  • Get one before China tax
After many hours of searching the web and machinist forums, I decided this would be the best bang in my price range. There is no end to what you can get for 200 dollars more. And with China import tax starting to creep in sale price. PM seems to have a good customer service. But the best customer service is the one you never need. I tried to buy a grizzly but all there mills use nylon gears. No thanks, how cheap can you get? The fit and finish is very good where it matters. It functions as advertised and I think you will be happy with any of PM mills. ... show more

  • Not perfect but still best deal for the money
Mine is the 727V but same machine just with a DC motor. I have had mine for 2 weeks and been working with it for about 2 hours every night. The good: This is a great step up in size from a mini mill. Gobbs more power and rigidity. I am planning on using mine for a gunsmithing business and I have been able to make aluminum cuts of a 1/4 at a time are not a problem with a good 2 flute endmill. I have done finishing cuts of 1.25 inches in depth with a 4 flute endmill and it does fantastic. I haven't tried any heavier but I think it would do well. Steel it makes great cuts as well. 4 inch vise is perfect, 5 inch is a little big but fits ok. 5 inch vise is what is on it in the picture. Great for pistol sized work but is a little lacking for any rifle barrel work. Update after 9 months of use: I had the 1 issue upfront with the machine of the collets not fitting and ended up being a small burr on the back end of the spindle that prevented me from putting in the collet all the way in. I removed that with a brake honing tool and it was back to working just fine. This thing is well with in .0005" on everything I have cut and I am extremely happy. Great Z axis height. but as with all things in milling. if you intend to use a rotary table and chuck you may want to get a bigger table sized machine. With a tail stock support you run out of room quick. Collet note. At first I was trying to be cheap and bought a no name brand set of collets off amazon I was getting off on my measurements and decided to put a dial indicator on it. I found up to 0.012" runout on various collets. I bought a second set of Lyndex collets and that decreased to about 0.0005" of runout. Lesson learned "buy nice or buy twice"! But the machine it's self is very capable of good precision. ... show more

  • The pm 727 flushes the pm 25
The pm 727 is far far far better then the pm 25mv i first had! The 727 is more ridged- cuts far better with more power -and is tighter!
