We bought this tackle box for our three year old little boy so that he could be introduced to the past time of fishing. The box is perfect for him. He is able to open and close it easily and loves to organize his fishing equipment in the compartments. The size of the tackle box makes it possible for him to carry it out to the pond all by himself. The box came with a few items which was a nice start to his tackle collection. We just went to Walmart and spend maybe another $10 on various equipment. There is plenty of room for more. Overall, this was well worth the price and will last for years to come. ... show more

    • won't keep the tackle separated if it turns over
This was a starter kit for my 11 year-old daughter and she was initially happy with it. We put the included tackle in the tray and added scissors and needle-nose pliers in the bottom of the box. What I failed to realized when buying it is that if the tackle box gets turned over for any reason when closed, all the previously sorted tackle is no longer sorted. Ours turned over in the trunk of the car. If you want to do it on the cheap like I did, you'd be better off with the Maurice Sporting Goods Kit-90 for 50 cents less. It may not hold the scissors and needle-nose pliers, but at least it will keep the tackle where you put it. In my case I'll be upgrading to something in the $20 to $30 range that will hold more and actually keep the tackle separated. ... show more

Pretty bare-bones. But, easy to open and close for my 7 year old, and he loved it. If you like the price, you can't go wrong. I couldn't find anything better for kids. Plan on buying some decent lures though separately to complete a quality package.
