I’m a big fan of Planet Bike Lights because they are bright and the flash is an annoying strobe light so its hard for motorists to not see you. I have a couple of rear lights from them but none are mad to mount on bike racks. When i have a bag on my rack, no one can see my seat stem and I have lost a light trying to rig it places it wasn’t designed to be. This one fit my Topeak rear rack like a glove. Topeak makes a light but the reviews on it aren’t that good. Plus this one is usb rechargeable. I dont like buying tons of coin batteries to power my bike gadgets so being able plug it in saves time, money (coin batteries are pricey), and waste. I hope more bike products start going the rechargeable route and stop using uncommon batteries that are hard to find and expensive to replace. Also the instructions are garbage and mention nothing about rack installs. If you are mounting to the rear rack, you don’t remove the clip on the back (Thankfully it was sturdy enough to resist my attempts). All you have to do is slide the whole thing into the groove and it clicks into place. ... show more

I am 100% satisfied with this light. It mounts perfectly to my Ibera pak rack! Very bright, and it looks like it was built into the rack it fits so perfectly! I've gotten over 7 hours with it on full, and am now testing the "pulse" mode, which they say over 9 hours but will have to see for myself. Overall, im so happy I went with the USB charger over batteries. A little more money but well worth it. It also snaps on and off extremely easy so I take it off when I'm not night riding (to prevent it bouncing around while biking or driving with it on the car rack Love it! 5 stars all day long. ... show more

Have used Planet Bike Tail Light >6mo and it still works great without any issue. It holds charges well and is very bright. It's easily the best bike rear light I have used in the past several years (including more expensive models/turning light features...). Great light. Nice and bright, and fits on my Topeak MTX Explorer rack with the included hardware without interfering with the quick release trunk system. If you look at the seatpost mount, its marked "TOP" with the release tab pointing down. The rack mount bolts right on to the end of the rack the same way; release tab pointing down. The light slips right into the mount and clicks into place from the top, right side up, and has plenty of clearance for the trunk's quick release track setup. The instructions are pretty vague when it comes to installation, but with a little common sense and thought(and the help of my pics) you can figure it out. The overall housing is pretty thick, and as others have mentioned the light does not function while charging. I might never need to use it while it's charging, but it could be an important feature to have that ability! Overall a great light that is sure to improve visibility to the rear. ... show more

Love planet bikes stuff. Rechargeable is the way to go, minimize throw away battery waste and it lasts longer and is brighter. This has multiple modes from solid on to blinking. Very bright which is what you want when biking, it makes you more visible and thus safer. The person saying this is too bright is mental. The mounting system lets me use one light for two different bikes, one with a rear carrier and one with a seat bag loop. Switching takes seconds. The light itself lasts a long time on a charge. The three patterns are useful, but I only use #3, a slow flash. When the light is off it is still a certified reflector. Nice. This light is very bright and the battery life is decent. My only issue was mounting this. I bought this to mount on my Ibera rack. When I use the mounting holes in the rack there wasn't enough room for the clip to clear the fender on my bike. I ended up making a mounting plate with some scrap metal. I'm sure this isn't an issue for most installs. Otherwise this is well made and exactly what I'd expect from planet bike ... show more

Works like it should, holds a charge for quite a while on flashing. If you don't have a rear flashing tail light for your bike, I highly suggest you get one. There seems to be some psychological effect on drivers seeing a flashing red light that causes them to slow down and be more careful in passing. I lived in western NC and a lot of people there dislike cyclists, I had numerous incidents of people passing in a dangerous fashion on narrow country roads.
