  • The Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 over Apple Smart Folio?
Size: Air 13" (M4/M3/M2); Pro 12.9" 3-6th Color: Black
In the world of “folio” style iPad cases, the Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 for iPad Pro is a breath of fresh air. After using Apple’s Smart Folio for years I've always wondered why its shortcomings keep returning iteration after iteration with no obvious solutions. So how does the Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 stack up? Visually this case is stunning. Very slim and stylish, this product is stealthy enough not to be overly loud and unprofessional yet still catch your attention. I have had a few people in passing ask what I was using when I brought it out in the field with me. The high-quality materials such as scratch-resistant polyurethane leather make it feel like a premium product and give it a sense of durability that most folios lack. The black is sleek but I love that it also comes in white. At the time of purchase the white was unfortunately unavailable. Now for the features, there are two specifics that I’ve always wanted in a folio style case and Pitaka delivers on both of them. First is the Apple Pencil holder. My previous folio cases basically ignored the pencil all together, making it not the best solution for a designer. This one has a little magnetic flap that holds the pencil securely so I don't have to worry so much about it popping off and getting lost. If this saves me from losing one pencil at $129 US it's already more than paid for itself. And for days when I’m not toting the pencil around, Pitaka engineered a little recess where the flap can easily fold out of the way. Attention to detail is key. Now for the main stand out feature that I’ve been asking for for years. The Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 not only has two standing orientations but also varying degrees of tilt. This feature is essential for me and makes this accessory a must have. Apple’s Magic Keyboard and Smart Folio don't even offer the option for portrait orientation. While the Magic Keyboard does tilt to some degree, I cannot use it easily with the Apple Pencil very well and forget about trying to do any design work. The flip top cover also wakes the device which is a feature that you don't realize how important it is till you use a folio that doesn't include it. The Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 can do 4 degrees of tilt, one for portrait 3 three for landscape. In portrait it can do a 62 degree angle which I find very useful for reading or scrolling through web pages. In landscape this folio can do 34 degrees for drafting or drawing work which I find to be super comfortable. But also it can sit at 57 or 53 degrees. I found these angles great for video calls or Facetime. When I’m getting a little bit of glare at one angle I can quickly swap to the other angle and it usually alleviates the problem. Now I’ve used the MagEZ Case 2 and MagEZ Stand for a long time now (would kill for the MagEZ Pro and wireless charging stand) at home and I was worried if there would be compatibility issues. I’m happy to report that they work flawlessly together. The design team obviously made an effort for compatibility and they fit so well together that it brought a smile to my face. Now for the price, at $59 at time of writing I feel its more than fair. The Apple Smart Folio is $79 and offers less in terms of functionality. Sure they have more of a variety of colors but if color is more important than function to you, why are you reading a review? You would be hard pressed to find a folio style case that has so much to offer and is made of such premium feeling materials at this price. In conclusion, I’ve had a number of Pitaka products over the years and while I have not always been in love with them, they have made consistent improvements year after year. I don't believe in being a brand fanboy and I explore products from everyone whenever something new comes out. But for a while now I can say that all roads have lead me to Pitaka. From my iPhone 14 Pro Max to my iPad Pro I have found that almost exclusively all my needs have been met by their products without compromise. I recommended the The Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 for its durability and versatility. ... show more

  • Best case I bought.
Size: Pro 13" 2025/2024 (M5/M4) Color: Black
I am in love with this case. I bought the Apple Smart Folio case first, noticed how wobbly it is on a hard surface and then I had to keep a hand on it at all times in my lap and that made me super nervous. Then I got the ESR case that has the different angles and strong magnets but that thing was heavy as heck. It made my iPad feel really bulky and I hated having to carry it around bc it was like a brick. Then I came across this case. It’s stable which is a big thing. It doesn’t rock no matter how you have it set up. I can have it on my lap, my table or even the arm on my chair and it doesn’t wobble or anything. The magnets to hold the iPad are incredibly strong so it’s not going anywhere. I put the Apple Smart Folio and then the Pitaka case in the other and honestly you can not tell the difference between the two weight wise. It keeps the iPad feeling thin and the material is easy to clean compared to the silicone cover that shows everything and is hard to get everything off. The different angles on this make it easy to use. I can walk away from it knowing that it’s not going to just flop over. I love the feel of this case. It’s easy to switch between the different angles once you get use to it. When you wanna close it with the flap it hugs your Apple Pencil so no need to worry about that falling off either. I wanted my iPad Pro 13” to feel as thin as I could with a case on it and this is perfect for that. I’m not worried about the corners not being protected bc in the past 6-8 years of owning iPads I never dropped a single one. The sides do come up a little more than the Apple Smart Folio so I would assume if you did drop it, it’s going to hit the case before the iPad but again I don’t drop my iPads so I wouldn’t know for sure. I will say all around it is an awesome case and definitely worth the money. ... show more

  • The perfect case-stand for your iPad Pro.
Size: Pro 11" 2025/2024 (M5/M4) Color: Black
Finally! After searching high and low and buying many folios, keyboard cases, and cases, I found THE one that works perfectly. The Pitaka case folds exactly where I want in both portrait (my primary use) and landscape. I travel frequently and reducing weight and thickness of my iPad Pro setup is critical. I have tried a competitor (Moft) but the origami folds are too complex and hard to remember because there are too many of them. Additionally, in the portrait mode I want most, ~60-65 ° angle, the iPad does not sit level and the stand is very unstable. And they charge extra for the Pencil flap, which is included in the Pitaka case. Logitech's Flip folio has an excellent keyboard and a great kick-stand but is FAR too heavy and bulky. It nearly doubles the weight and thickness of the iPad Pro. Apple's Magic Keyboard has the best overall build quality and typing experience, but it does not work in portrait mode. Overall, this is THE best option. I can use the Pitaka case as a very light, easy to use stand and the Logitech Flip Folio keyboard for the most minimal travel setup. Well done, Pitaka. ... show more

  • Best Lightweight Folio With a Small Flaw
Size: Pro 13" 2025/2024 (M5/M4) Color: Black
This has to be one of the best iPad Pro folio cases out there—as long as you do not get a dud like I did the first time. I would also avoid buying a used or returned one, since many of the returned units seem to have problems with the magnets not holding properly. I have not found another case that meets all the same requirements without adding significantly more weight. It is not the most premium-feeling iPad case, but it does not feel especially cheap either. I would describe the material quality as average. My main complaint is the Apple Pencil retention flap. It is a little too small, so the Pencil can sometimes slip out when the flap catches on something, such as when I slide the iPad into the laptop compartment of my backpack. Other than that, I do not have many complaints. The case is solid in nearly every other respect. I especially like being able to use the iPad in portrait orientation for reading and other tasks, as well as in landscape orientation when I use it as a second monitor for my MacBook. Some people complain that the sides are not fully covered and protected like they would be with a bumper case, but come on—it is a folio case. The design keeps the iPad slim, light, and comfortable to hold. The only exposed parts are the metal sides, and the case extends slightly beyond them to provide at least some protection. A folio is mainly supposed to protect the screen, which is the most important part, and this case does that well. There is obviously still some risk if you drop the iPad while it is open and the screen is exposed. I think I have only dropped mine once like that, and it was still fine. That is also what a screen protector is for. Apple intentionally designed this iPad to be extremely thin, and putting it into a bulky case would defeat much of the point. That is why I like this case so much. It preserves the slim design while still providing useful protection and several practical viewing positions. ... show more

  • Nice Design, but Too Expensive for the Protection It Provides
Size: Pro 13" 2025/2024 (M5/M4) Color: Black
I like the overall design and concept of this PITAKA folio, but for the price, I expected considerably more protection for my iPad. The biggest issue is that this is essentially a front and back folio rather than a fully protective case. The sides and corners of the iPad remain exposed, so there really isn't much protection if you accidentally bump the edge or drop the iPad. Considering the corners and edges are some of the areas I would be most concerned about damaging, that's a pretty significant compromise. I understand that keeping the sides exposed helps maintain a slim and lightweight design, and some people may actually prefer that. However, at this price point, I think there should be a better balance between maintaining the thin profile and providing basic protection around the device. The folio itself isn't bad, and if your priority is keeping your iPad slim while mainly protecting the front and back from scratches, you may really like it. If you're expecting a case that also provides meaningful corner and side protection, though, this probably isn't the best choice. Overall, it's a nice-looking folio with a minimalist design, but I have a hard time justifying the price considering how much of the iPad remains exposed. ... show more

  • The best case ever! - iPad Air M3
Size: Air 11" 4-8th; Pro 11" 1-4th Color: Blue
This case is truly amazing! It feels way better than the outdated overpriced dinosaur floppy mess which doesn't even stay flush against the screen $79.99 apple folio - apple needs to retire that style -yesterday This case feels so much better! I can fold it 4 ways very easily. I use vertical for reading the news with coffee - or documents. Right now, I am on the lowest angle - 37° I believe? That one took me a minute to figure out. But it's great for writing w/ the Apple Pencil pro. The light blue is gorgeous! No fingerprints! I wanted lightweight. i cannot stand heavy cases. For me, it defeats the purpose of getting an iPad Air. My only experience with folios, or cases in general , has been the apple folio What a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!!! his feels SO LUXURIOUS!! It’s also VERY VERSATILE AND STURDY! I leave it on the arm of the couch or my lap and I don’t feel like I have to keep my hand on it anymore I tried another case that is similar but touts on about all the different ways it could fold Honestly, it didn’t make a difference to me. The other options were too much because many of them are at the same angle.. so there’s no real point … This one feels sturdier, yet lighter. I love the pencil flap. The other one makes you buy a pencil holder and it’s only for a specific size and that’s it’s. Very disappointing This product is my new go to and I’m buying more for different colors and back up. Plus, doesn’t it make the PERFECT GIFT??? Customer service is world class. Very responsive and super caring, helpful, and want to do anything to help. Good customer service is very hard to come by these days. I appreciate it when it happens because it is a rarity. This also adds to the reason that I will be a forever customer.! Thanks Pitaka!!!!!! ... show more

  • Same great fit but with new Tricks
Size: Air 11" 4-8th; Pro 11" 1-4th Color: Blue
I’ve been using my trusty Apple Branded Smart Folio Case with my iPad Pro 11” (M2 model) for a while. It has served me well, but it’s always been missing something. Sure, it can prop up my iPad in two different heights in landscape mode, but that’s about it. Enter the Pitaka iPad Pro Case. It fits like a glove and protects the same as the Apple Smart Folio case but does so much more. Sure, it magnetically attaches to the back of the iPad and wakes the iPad when you open the lid same as the Apple Smart Folio. But when you have an Apple Pencil attached to the edge of the iPad, you can fold out a flap that keeps your pencil securely attached. When going without the Pencil, that same tab neatly tucks magnetically between the iPad and the case so you don’t even notice it. The lid also has some cool origami folding tricks that give you so many more options to prop up your iPad than the Apple case. While the Apple case does two different landscaping angles, this Pitaka case does those plus another landscape angle and it has one that allows you to prop up your iPad in Portrait mode, too! You loose nothing and gain so much! It’s built really well, looks great and is much more functional. Not to mention that it costs less, too! I already have a carbon fiber Apple Watch band and thin case for my iPhone, and now I can round out the Pitaka collection with this awesome iPad case. ... show more

  • Great alternative to Apple's cases
Size: Pro 11" 2025/2024 (M5/M4) Color: Black
I recently picked up the Pitaka case for my iPad Pro 2024 11 inch, and after using it for a couple of days, I can confidently say it’s a fantastic product. Initially, I was a bit skeptical because, in my experience, Apple’s branded cases usually outperform third-party options. However, this case has pleasantly surprised me. The first thing I noticed was how slim and lightweight the case is. It barely adds any bulk to my iPad, making it super easy to carry around. It fits perfectly, almost like it’s an Apple-made product. The polyurethane leather feels really premium, and it’s not just stylish but also does a great job of resisting dust and scratches. It adds a nice touch of elegance to my iPad. One of the features I really appreciate is the magnetic design and built-in pencil holder. The magnets in this case are really strong and hold the iPad firmly in place. The built-in pencil holder with a magnetic clasp is a game-changer. My Apple Pencil stays put in my bag, and I can still charge it without any hassle. The stand functionality took a bit of getting used to, but once I figured it out, it became second nature. It’s really versatile with four different angles, which is perfect for everything from Zoom calls to web browsing and drawing. The stand feels stable whether I’m using it in portrait or landscape mode. Another nice touch is the auto sleep/wake feature. It wakes up the iPad when I open the case and puts it to sleep when I close it, which is super convenient. I’ve primarily used the case at home, and it’s excellent for providing protection without adding unnecessary bulk. I also feel confident throwing my iPad in a rucksack and heading to a coffee shop to work. The pencil strap is a lifesaver, ensuring my Apple Pencil stays secure. The stand is also great for working on the go, providing the perfect angle for typing and viewing. In summary, the Pitaka case for iPad Pro 2024 is a solid investment. It combines style, protection, and functionality in a slim, lightweight design. If you’re looking for a high-quality case that feels like it was made by Apple, this is definitely worth considering. ... show more
