  • The Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 over Apple Smart Folio? The Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 over Apple Smart Folio?
Size: Air 13" (M4/M3/M2); Pro 12.9" 3-6th Color: Black
In the world of “folio” style iPad cases, the Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 for iPad Pro is a breath of fresh air. After using Apple’s Smart Folio for years I've always wondered why its shortcomings keep returning iteration after iteration with no obvious solutions. So how does the Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 stack up? Visually this case is stunning. Very slim and stylish, this product is stealthy enough not to be overly loud and unprofessional yet still catch your attention. I have had a few people in passing ask what I was using when I brought it out in the field with me. The high-quality materials such as scratch-resistant polyurethane leather make it feel like a premium product and give it a sense of durability that most folios lack. The black is sleek but I love that it also comes in white. At the time of purchase the white was unfortunately unavailable. Now for the features, there are two specifics that I’ve always wanted in a folio style case and Pitaka delivers on both of them. First is the Apple Pencil holder. My previous folio cases basically ignored the pencil all together, making it not the best solution for a designer. This one has a little magnetic flap that holds the pencil securely so I don't have to worry so much about it popping off and getting lost. If this saves me from losing one pencil at $129 US it's already more than paid for itself. And for days when I’m not toting the pencil around, Pitaka engineered a little recess where the flap can easily fold out of the way. Attention to detail is key. Now for the main stand out feature that I’ve been asking for for years. The Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 not only has two standing orientations but also varying degrees of tilt. This feature is essential for me and makes this accessory a must have. Apple’s Magic Keyboard and Smart Folio don't even offer the option for portrait orientation. While the Magic Keyboard does tilt to some degree, I cannot use it easily with the Apple Pencil very well and forget about trying to do any design work. The flip top cover also wakes the device which is a feature that you don't realize how important it is till you use a folio that doesn't include it. The Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 can do 4 degrees of tilt, one for portrait 3 three for landscape. In portrait it can do a 62 degree angle which I find very useful for reading or scrolling through web pages. In landscape this folio can do 34 degrees for drafting or drawing work which I find to be super comfortable. But also it can sit at 57 or 53 degrees. I found these angles great for video calls or Facetime. When I’m getting a little bit of glare at one angle I can quickly swap to the other angle and it usually alleviates the problem. Now I’ve used the MagEZ Case 2 and MagEZ Stand for a long time now (would kill for the MagEZ Pro and wireless charging stand) at home and I was worried if there would be compatibility issues. I’m happy to report that they work flawlessly together. The design team obviously made an effort for compatibility and they fit so well together that it brought a smile to my face. Now for the price, at $59 at time of writing I feel its more than fair. The Apple Smart Folio is $79 and offers less in terms of functionality. Sure they have more of a variety of colors but if color is more important than function to you, why are you reading a review? You would be hard pressed to find a folio style case that has so much to offer and is made of such premium feeling materials at this price. In conclusion, I’ve had a number of Pitaka products over the years and while I have not always been in love with them, they have made consistent improvements year after year. I don't believe in being a brand fanboy and I explore products from everyone whenever something new comes out. But for a while now I can say that all roads have lead me to Pitaka. From my iPhone 14 Pro Max to my iPad Pro I have found that almost exclusively all my needs have been met by their products without compromise. I recommended the The Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2 for its durability and versatility. ... show more

  • Best case I bought. Best case I bought.
Size: Pro 13" 2025/2024 (M5/M4) Color: Black
I am in love with this case. I bought the Apple Smart Folio case first, noticed how wobbly it is on a hard surface and then I had to keep a hand on it at all times in my lap and that made me super nervous. Then I got the ESR case that has the different angles and strong magnets but that thing was heavy as heck. It made my iPad feel really bulky and I hated having to carry it around bc it was like a brick. Then I came across this case. It’s stable which is a big thing. It doesn’t rock no matter how you have it set up. I can have it on my lap, my table or even the arm on my chair and it doesn’t wobble or anything. The magnets to hold the iPad are incredibly strong so it’s not going anywhere. I put the Apple Smart Folio and then the Pitaka case in the other and honestly you can not tell the difference between the two weight wise. It keeps the iPad feeling thin and the material is easy to clean compared to the silicone cover that shows everything and is hard to get everything off. The different angles on this make it easy to use. I can walk away from it knowing that it’s not going to just flop over. I love the feel of this case. It’s easy to switch between the different angles once you get use to it. When you wanna close it with the flap it hugs your Apple Pencil so no need to worry about that falling off either. I wanted my iPad Pro 13” to feel as thin as I could with a case on it and this is perfect for that. I’m not worried about the corners not being protected bc in the past 6-8 years of owning iPads I never dropped a single one. The sides do come up a little more than the Apple Smart Folio so I would assume if you did drop it, it’s going to hit the case before the iPad but again I don’t drop my iPads so I wouldn’t know for sure. I will say all around it is an awesome case and definitely worth the money. ... show more

  • The perfect case-stand for your iPad Pro.
Size: Pro 11" 2025/2024 (M5/M4) Color: Black
Finally! After searching high and low and buying many folios, keyboard cases, and cases, I found THE one that works perfectly. The Pitaka case folds exactly where I want in both portrait (my primary use) and landscape. I travel frequently and reducing weight and thickness of my iPad Pro setup is critical. I have tried a competitor (Moft) but the origami folds are too complex and hard to remember because there are too many of them. Additionally, in the portrait mode I want most, ~60-65 ° angle, the iPad does not sit level and the stand is very unstable. And they charge extra for the Pencil flap, which is included in the Pitaka case. Logitech's Flip folio has an excellent keyboard and a great kick-stand but is FAR too heavy and bulky. It nearly doubles the weight and thickness of the iPad Pro. Apple's Magic Keyboard has the best overall build quality and typing experience, but it does not work in portrait mode. Overall, this is THE best option. I can use the Pitaka case as a very light, easy to use stand and the Logitech Flip Folio keyboard for the most minimal travel setup. Well done, Pitaka. ... show more

  • Wonderful cover with a great design!
Size: Pro 11" 2025/2024 (M5/M4) Color: Black
Wonderful cover! Love how it holds the Apple Pencil. Love how the flap tucks away in back. Love the angles the origami folds offer. I am a professional artist and used to take a dedicated stand with me in my bag. The PITAKA cover offers all of the angles I needed the stand for. Low angle for drawing, standard horizontal viewing angle and portrait mode for reading articles/books. When you get it, take a few minutes to understand how to do the folding and you will forever enjoy this excellent cover. ... show more

  • Nifty and dependable!
Size: Pro 13" 2025/2024 (M5/M4) Color: White
Bought this to protect and carry my work issued iPad. Works great as a cover, slim yet pretty sturdy, and the magnetic hold on the iPad is nice and strong. The three stand heights take a little while to remember which fold gives which height, though the flexibility is nice. It would be much better with a lowest height that’s just an inch or so high, as two of the heights are pretty similar. Overall very happy with this! ... show more

  • Nice quality and solves problems that other solutions did not solve well. Nice quality and solves problems that other solutions did not solve well.
Size: Air 13" (M4/M3/M2); Pro 12.9" 3-6th Color: Black
Overall I like the quality and the concept. Other cases I used before were either too big/heavy/clunky (e.g. Otterbox) and needed an additional ipad holder that I had to carry while traveling. I have also tried other folios such as UAG ones, but they were not as stable, (it would easily slide) and it was only possible in landscape mode. The Pitaka Folio 2 solves all of those problems. It is lightweight and sleek. I don't have to carry another holder for traveling. It also has quite a varied number of viewing angles, quite sufficient for all the various uses of the ipad. It was also super stable and I did not have any wobbling issues or it collapsing. The portrait mode was only stable on one side though, and it was the side where the charging port was on the bottom. So you could not charge it and use it in a stable portrait mode at one time. It took me a while to figure out how to use all the different variations of folding and positioning. But once, I figured it out, it was became relatively simple and straightfoward. One issue I had was that the flap holding the apple pencil would flop down over the screen when it was in landscape mode on top. Putting a pencil there did solve the problem, but not everyone has the apple pencil, or won't have it there when they are using it. You could always flip it around, but just wanted to point that out. The other issue I had was that I have a fairly thin TPU case on the ipad. But it wasn't thin enough and I could not use it in conjunction with the Pitaka Folio 2. I take really good care of my apple devices so even the thought of it possibly being exposed even on one side at any time was not as comforting to me. It looks like I may have to try out the MagEZ case 2. It seems like that should be compatible, but it seems like no other case will be thin enough. ... show more

  • Sleek and elegant
Size: Pro 11" 2025/2024 (M5/M4) Color: Black
I had high hopes for this case for my iPad Pro M5, having become a Pitaka fan since my iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, it falls short in providing bumper protection. After a few drops, my iPad has multiple scratches around the bezels and a crack on one of the corners of the screen. So, be cautious when considering this case for your iPad M4/M5. On the positive side, removing the case is a breeze. The magnets are strong enough to keep your iPad securely attached. The origami-style cover offers multiple ways to prop and hold your iPad. Additionally, the folding flap can be used to securely attach an Apple Pencil. ... show more

  • The best case ever! - iPad Air M3
Size: Air 11" 4-8th; Pro 11" 1-4th Color: Blue
This case is truly amazing! It feels way better than the outdated overpriced dinosaur floppy mess which doesn't even stay flush against the screen $79.99 apple folio - apple needs to retire that style -yesterday This case feels so much better! I can fold it 4 ways very easily. I use vertical for reading the news with coffee - or documents. Right now, I am on the lowest angle - 37° I believe? That one took me a minute to figure out. But it's great for writing w/ the Apple Pencil pro. The light blue is gorgeous! No fingerprints! I wanted lightweight. i cannot stand heavy cases. For me, it defeats the purpose of getting an iPad Air. My only experience with folios, or cases in general , has been the apple folio What a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!!! his feels SO LUXURIOUS!! It’s also VERY VERSATILE AND STURDY! I leave it on the arm of the couch or my lap and I don’t feel like I have to keep my hand on it anymore I tried another case that is similar but touts on about all the different ways it could fold Honestly, it didn’t make a difference to me. The other options were too much because many of them are at the same angle.. so there’s no real point … This one feels sturdier, yet lighter. I love the pencil flap. The other one makes you buy a pencil holder and it’s only for a specific size and that’s it’s. Very disappointing This product is my new go to and I’m buying more for different colors and back up. Plus, doesn’t it make the PERFECT GIFT??? Customer service is world class. Very responsive and super caring, helpful, and want to do anything to help. Good customer service is very hard to come by these days. I appreciate it when it happens because it is a rarity. This also adds to the reason that I will be a forever customer.! Thanks Pitaka!!!!!! ... show more
