Setup and used the White matte version. Had to return it upon first use (two days later). Spool tensioner had to be cranked tight to stop lures from dropping fast. This caused the retrieve to be very tight. I then removed all my line and realized the spool tensioner was not working correctly. While it's set to a tight setting, the spool did not move as the handle is cranked, as if the drag was completely loose. Very disappointing, because I purchased the Alloy M less than 1 month ago, and it is the most superior reel in my arsenal so far. I'm reluctant to purchase another Piscifun reel because of this. They may want to tighten up on quality control. *****Follow up****** Purchased another Carbon XCS. This one did not have any issues as the last one did. Setup it up as I did with all my reels, and casting and weight attributes makes this reel amazingly easy to fish with. The retrieval is unbelievably smooth, combined with the weight and the properly matched rod, my setup is in the range of a BFS setup. The Carbon XCS is in a small class of reels bordering bait caster and BFS. ***Follow up 2*** After using all of my reels in rotation, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is THE BEST casting reel I now own. The Carbon XCS reel will cast double the distance my others will go. I tried it with mono, and now have flouro on it, and there is no noticeable difference in casting. There is something about the dual braking system, weight , and I have to assume the spool that contributes to the smoothness of my casts. The reel is so unbelievably smooth with casting I had to purchase another. Bought a black one this time. And will be setting it up braided line this time. ... show more

This reel is super lightweight. I have it on a St Croix rod and use it for casting soft plastics with a pegged 1/8 oz sinker. I really have to crank down the brakes to keep it from backlashing. I also have a Torrent II and that one performs better for me with lighter lures. Both reels are excellent for heavier lures (3/8 oz and up) and I’m starting to buy Picsifun instead of $100+ reels. I have used these reels a lot for FL bass fishing and they have held up strong. ... show more

So I normally use Shimano or Diawa, but I needed an extra reel and didn't have the budget for the main brands. This reel went on my spinnerbait rod and has boated some seriously nice spotted bass (4 lbs and up) without a hiccup. Casts well and the drag is decent amd responsive. Would buy again.

This reel isn’t the smoothest or silent you can buy, but for the money it gets great casting distance and is extremely light weight. Use this reel on my jerkbait set up helps that it’s so light with wrist fatigue.

Reel is as described. Light weight and seems well built. Main shaft has some in out play. (Handle moves in and out about 1 mm). People tell its normal. Tear the reel down and found out that e clip that supposed to fix the bearing on the bottom of the shaft is missing. (Part no. 21 on the schematics.) No big deal. Got to find the right part as the reel can get damaged if used as is. ... show more

This reel is a great value for what it cost. Although it was smooth out of the box, I did oil it before fishing with it. I have paired it with a medium action Diawa Laguna rod. I will use it for casting hard jerk baits because with its high gear ratio, it can pick up line quickly after pauses. I will also use it for jointed minnow lures. If you're considering buying this reel but are not sure, I suggest you see the video on YouTube about it put by "The Reel Test". Tight lines y'all!! ... show more
