Physically a little annoying to install, but the real issue is on the software end. The app is mysterious and poorly documented. It is hard to register and I had to find some weird info on Youtube to even get started. The actual controls in the app are ok, but everything is laid out in a really dumb way. No stored settings. The Google Home integration is completely useless. It only turns the unit on and off, which you should almost never have to do. What you really want is to be able to adjust temperature and fan speed, which you can't do through Google Home. If you have a Pioneer mini split, you do want to get this, since it gives you more options than the remote, lets you control the unit remotely and at least lets you turn off the awful beep from the remote, but the manufacturer should be ashamed of their poor quality app and instructions.

If your mini-split is not in your domicile, like in the guesthouse or backyard office, you'll want this precious item! If you've played with electronics it's an easy install; the software set up is not so. Over-complicated, though with patience and years of setting up software with lame instruction under year belt, you too can end up with a mini-split which can be operated or checked on from anywhere in the world! I have a 12k BTU pioneer diamante mini split. The qr code directions this came with weren't really accurate to my unit but you can kind of vaguely follow it or a YouTube video for the physical part. I ended up having to call support when my phone wouldn't connect to the module's hot spot for set up. Their advice was to flip the breaker and complete the pairing within 10 minutes and that ended up working after 3 attempts. I consider myself a pretty handy/technical person and this was just a pain in the butt to pair and get working. There's also two different apps, the one in the qr instructions didn't work but when I went to the website I found the correct app. However I would say it's worth the effort because the app has a lot more features than using just the remote. I love the voice control and not having to figure out where I left the remote last. You can more precisely control the air flow with the app as well and do scheduling.

I was a bitt worried about this after seeing the mix reviews, but I already had the heat pump, so didn't have any other option. It arrives in a small box with just the WiFi unit and a small sheet of paper with three QR codes. The first downloads a PDF with pictures and instructions on how to install the unit. The second downloads a PDF on how to setup the app and connect the unit to your WiFi. The third is for registering the app. I thought everything went fairly straightforward. While I would of liked the USB stick-style installation other units have, it still only took a few minutes to get installed and connected. The app is a generic one from a third party, but it works. Connected into my Google Home system as well and can use voice commands without issue. Happy I purchased.
