  • No regrets

I found out about this speaker through a friend. He invited me over and was showing me some music and I was hooked! I purchased my one as soon as I got home. Music is an important part of my life and I decided that it was worth it to finally spend the money for nice speakers like these. This speaker seriously elevates my space I love it. It can go super loud. I’ve personally never turned it all the way up. So I’m not even sure how loud it can go exactly, but I like loud music and am constantly having mini concerts and didn’t need it louder so take that for what it’s worth. The base is good, all the songs I’ve played especially my EDM all sounded amazing. like I was back at a rave. I like the color, the black looks sleek. It was packaged well and was super easy to put together. Overall a good purchase. I chose to do mine in payments. Getting approved for that was super easy also. Highly recommend these speakers ✨ ... show more

  • Large but excellent
Style: Speaker
Never had a poor experience with Pioneer. Speakers are traditional in design in that instead of two tweeters and one woofer the capability is built into each speaker with - non-traditional - amplifier in the RH speaker. Thus a far better stereo effect is obtained than with others in the same price range. Con is that for a PC desk they require much more space as at inches 7W 11 D and 10.5 H they are, relative to my moribund Logitech unit with out of sight floor sited sub-woofer, large. However, the sound quality is superb: can hear details that previously were absent. With the size and black finish they are visually obtrusive which, for a PC is a con. Have them shelf mounted with sides shielded white and only the black front showing. Have no need for the Blue Tooth capability. ... show more

  • Generally Pleased, But Auto Off/On Function Does Not Work
Style: Speaker
After a period of no audio input, the speakers enter "sleep" mode. They are supposed to come back on when they detect audio input again. My speakers do not come back on. I use an Ipad or an Ipod for Bluetooth input to the speakers. The speakers will pair and connect to both devices without a problem (you can only be connected to one device at a time.) After I pause the input music on the Ipod/Ipad, the speakers enter sleep mode after about 30 minutes. When this happens, the white power light and the blue Bluetooth light on the speakers go off. If I look at my device settings when the speakers are in Sleep Mode, the device shows that the Bluetooth is no longer connected to the speakers. If I resume audio input, the speakers will not reconnect and the speakers don't come back on (no power light or Bluetooth light). The only way to re-connect the Bluetooth device to the speakers is to manually turn off the speaker power switch, then turn it back on, then re-connect the Bluetooth. Ideally, I would like to locate these speakers in a place where it is not convenient to reach the back of the left speaker to turn it off and on in order to re-connect the Bluetooth, so it's disappointing that the speakers lose connection in Sleep Mode and require a manual reset. ... show more

  • They look very good
Style: Speaker
They look solid and well constructed for a set of affordable monitor speakers. Both have a nice weigh and they can be moved from one place to another without too much effort. The left speaker enclosure is a little bigger and heavier than the right one because it has all the connections and knobs. The vinyl-coated cabinet looks durable and it appears to be resistant to scratches and dents. I will test them at home with my RX2 console as monitor speakers in my Florida room. I will post and update with the sound performance. With the unboxing I can tell that they will turnout to be a great buy and addition to my home studio. ... show more

  • Auto-power-down feature make these a poor fit for PC and low-volume sources
Style: Speaker
I'm not an audiophile, but I am something of a perfectionist. These speakers annoy me for reasons unrelated to their sound quality (which is probably good, I couldn't say, since this is my first set of good speakers). These speakers have an auto-power-down feature: it is intended to make the speakers shut down after a period of inactivity (seems to be 30 minutes), saving power. However, this feature makes these speakers have several significant issues for me. The main issue here is that, as PC speakers, I want them... to play sound, when my PC plays a sound. However, if the speakers are powered down, they don't play sounds, they wake up if there is sound for a few seconds on the 3.5mm input. I'm not necessarily always playing music while my computer is on, but I would like to be able to hear notifications and alarms I have set, even if it's been a while without any sound. However, since the speakers will auto-power-down after a while without any sound, I could easily miss hearing something. This is the feature working as intended... it's not the worst issue, necessarily, not that I find it acceptable for my use case. The real worst part of this issue, however, is that the auto-power-down feature seems to be based on the volume level of the source. Namely, it will activate if the volume level of the source is low enough for long enough. Case in point, I've had the speakers turn off by themselves while I'm actively using them to play music. It dumbfounds me to think that a "feature" like this is actually in a consumer product, with no way to turn it off. Now, you might ask, "Why is my volume so low?" Well, I use a passive audio mixer to have multiple audio sources, from my PC and game consoles, which also unavoidably lowers the volume significantly. I also frequently listen at low volume levels for comfort and to be polite to my family members when they're listening to things, too. So, I can't really change this. Finally... a minor annoyance, turned major: the speakers make a beep sound when powering back on. Normally not a big issue, even if I inherently dislike this "feature"... But, this becomes a significant issue when considering that, because of my low source volume, I need to turn up the volume control on the speakers quite a bit. Thus, the beep can be quite loud, painfully loud at the close distance away the speakers are on my desk. Sure, I could turn down the dial... every time I play audio after a while without audio. If I forget to turn it down, I get blasted with this loud beep. It's annoying. You know what speakers don't give me these issues? My 2-decade-old cheapo PC speakers. I'd like to think a good-quality speaker wouldn't have usability issues like this, but this is how it is. Call me old-fashioned, but I'd rather have speakers that play the sound coming from the source I connect to it, and only that, not getting in the way otherwise. ... show more

  • Cool speakers
Style: Speaker
I bought these for my experimental synthesizer and for desk speakers in my photo studio. They have a great sound, are easy to use, and look cool. I’d recommend them! I looked at these because they are a top choice at Wirecutter, and I’m glad I followed their advice!
