i got it for the reticle. let's be honest, so are you. is it a smiley face? yes. the reticle shape is actually better in person than in the photoshopped image in the listing. the issue is that the reticle is not evenly lit. the center dot (nose) is the brightest with the eyes and mouth noticeably dimmer. given what this is i was willing to live with it. the problem that makes this unusable, even as a novelty on your 22 plinker is that it's not bright enough to be seen in daylight. i mean, you can see it, but you have to look for it against a light background or paper targets. even still i was tempted to keep it, but knew in the back of my mind that it would likely come off after a single session. cannot speak to holding zero since it never even got mounted.

Seems built solid, smileys great, but when a red dot causes this much damage it gets a bad review. The attachment screw is set too far into the picatinny causing it not only to damage the rail, but not let it mount flush. Poor design that could easily be changed by pinty. I just wish I would've tested it on a cheaper, replaceable gun first.

TLDR: Seems like a good red dot sight from someone who doesn't know much I had never heard of Pinty brand. But let's face it: there are certain brands that have really made a name for themselves on Amazon. Pinty seems to be one of those brands, as they have thousands of great reviews on their products that cost a fraction of the big name brands products. And we know that most people don't leave reviews, but people that hate something certainly do. So that's saying something for Pinty. I bought our first AR-15 a few months ago and decided to try out this red dot sight. It also is our first red dot, as I've only used iron sights and scopes in the past on our other rifles. So keep that in mind when considering whether my opinion even matters. The sight does not come with any risers, so I've ordered a variety to elevate it above my F-marked .750 front sight base, and also a 45° degree mount to see if I prefer that. That said, I have played with the sight to see if the stated functions work, and they do. I even 3D printed a riser to see what I thought before receiving the real ones. Everything seems to fit the rifles picatinny rail just fine, and I believe that the only difficulties I'll have is getting it zeroed in properly after deciding how I'll mount it. I'm reviewing it before I do that because I'm sure that if there are problems going forward it will be from a lack of abilities on my part to get it zeroed in, and not a problem with the sight. I think the only thing in question is whether I'll wish at some point to not have a smiley face on my targets. I think it's pretty funny, and I can't wait to see the reaction when friends and family shoot with it.

The dot isn't sharp and has a lot of light bleeding through everywhere making for a lot of halos around the image, also honestly the smiley face is kind of dumb.

This is a very well built red dot site. It is easy to install, easy to use, and seems like it will last a long time. It comes with the batteries and tools and everything you need. You can see from the photo and the item description that it has a smile, smiley face, and the nose of the face is the main site dot. Using it during the day if you set the brightness all the way down, you can still see the red dot but the eyes and mouth seemed to go away and as you increase the brightness, you can see the full smiley face. Has adjustments for wind and elevation and comes with end caps. The smiley face doesn’t really add much but also doesn’t really take away, so I’d say this is a good buy in the end.
