I guess that's a hack, but it's something I've needed for a long time. There used to be light tables (frosted glass on top of a box with a light inside) that were designed for that purpose, but they're not around anymore. This serves that purpose AND also allows you to very easily scan your slides on a typical scanner, with this as the light source behind the slides! It doesn't have a battery, so it must be plugged into a USB port at all times, but I think that's fine because a battery would only make it heavier and more expensive. I use this on my art work and it works great . The only thing is is that when you use it you have to keep it plugged in.Its not like you can charge it and then unplug it. It's not on a charger like you cell phone. How you charge your phone and you can be on it for a few hours.Tablet light when in use plug it in and turn it off.You do hold down the power button until it goes dim then tap it and it should go off. ... show more

This light board actually lights up really bright. It’s super light, and that’s why I was suspicious at first but it works great. I’m an art major and works great for my projects. If you hold down the power button it Dims the light. Great purchase!

I ordered this to use as a backlight with my cricut when weeding my vinyl, and it was PERFECT! It’s lightweight, easy to use and adjust brightness, and has lasted over a year so far. I got bored with my cricut hobby so I ended up moving the light to my vanity to use as a bright face light when doing my make up, and it’s perfect for that also! how very disappointing, 45 days after I bought it no longer works. Everything about this light was great until it stopped working. Now I have a useless light and can't return it. I am going to try to take advantage of the warranty, but I am not holding my breath. 8/25 - follow up - I received the replacement light on Sunday 8/22, so great speed in delivery. However, the light is only better in that it lights up. Every couple of minutes the light dims and turns off automatically. I am just not impressed with this product. I am respectfully requesting a refund of the purchase price. This is the second light that is defective and I just don't think I should have to deal with another light, that will probably stop working soon after I receive it. I really wanted to love this but I just can't. 8/26 I am upgrading my review because I had many issues with this product and the seller was prompt in responding to those issues and did everything in their power to make this work for me. I use a sketchbook to draw my designs, then ink them with a black pen. This light box is strong enough to illuminate from behind my sketch paper through my watercolor paper so I can lightly trace my sketches for painting. I use quality Arches watercolor paper, so it’s thick, and I was skeptical if I’d be able to see anything through it. The light box is great! Portable with a usb power source, very bright, and large.
