I have made it my mission to review all sorts of pickleball paddles. I'll rate this one in comparison to what I've used. For comparison, a painted piece of plywood with no handle scores 6/10 for stability and power and 1/10 everywhere else. Ratings for this paddle Handle and ergonomics: 7.5/10 I have male hands on the slightly high side of average. This is an upgrade paddle so it’s probably not fair to compare to paddles that are 4x the cost, but Selkirk (my gold standard paddle for this category) sells an XL paddle with a 5.75” long handle with a 4.25” circumference and that feels ideal to me. This paddle grip is about 4 1/4 inches long according to my measurement, which about average, and I wish it was a little longer. The grip tape is comfortable, moisture wicking, shock absorbing, and has about a 4.3” grip circumference (my measurement isn’t exact), with some strange raised areas where the tape overlaps. I don’t like the raised overlaps, but my son does. I just use hockey tape or a python grip when this stuff inevitably wears out because it’s cheap and works fine. Stability and power 8.5/10 I tend to play control over power, but both are important. For reference, a Joola Pursuit MX is probably the gold standard 10/10 for power without sacrificing too many other attributes (and not a fair comparison since it’s more than 10x the price of this paddle). This paddle can thump a little more powerfully than any other paddle I’ve tried in the 50/paddle price range because it’s a little longer than normal (and a little narrower). Some manufacturers call this the “extra power” design”. It’s also a little thicker than normal, with the same 8oz weight, so that means you lose some power but gain more control (and get a little less vibration up the paddle for each shot). Spin and control 8.5/10 The raw carbon fiber textured surface has actual spin grip that is much better than most other 50/paddle price range paddle I’ve tried. You do lose a little control and sweet spot because the paddle is a little narrower and longer than normal, but the trade is for a little more power. Durability 8/10? I haven't had my paddles long enough to accurately assess this, but the paddle seems well-constructed, better quality control than some of the lower-cost paddles in this price range. This is about the level of performance I've come to expect at this price range. It’s not top tier, but it’s definitely a solid upgrade over a beginner paddle and the price is about right for the features. The paddle cover looks and feels nice (neoprene maybe?).

This is a very good paddle in a number of ways. It's got a very nice raw carbon fiber face so it has great spin and texture. It offers good control, an okay sweet spot, and lots of power. It's not a pro-level paddle, but it's got a fair price-to-value ratio. I do, however, feel that the handle is a little "chonky". It's more "square/rectangular" than octagonal... and the more you play, the more you realize this makes a big difference.

This paddle is a great value for the price. I wouldn't consider it a competition paddle at the higher levels, but it would be a good paddle to get the practice needed to move up. I rebalanced it, adding 3g on each side at the first curve up from the handle. Gave it a little more control and seemed to widen the sweet spot. I test paddles for sound as our community has a list of approved paddles based on sound. This one tested in the middle of the sound approved group which is very good for an inexpensive paddle.

I just recently got into pickleball, and I started out with some really cheap rackets off of here on Amazon, just to see if I'd like playing. I've started playing more now, and needed to get a better racket. It's amazing how much better this racket is than the cheap one. It's got a carbon fiber construction so it's light, but very solid feeling. I had one other racket before this one, that was better than the cheap ones, but not as good as this one. The issue with that one was the handle was too short. But palm hung off the bottom and didn't feel good. This one has a perfect sized (length) handle. It has a nice sweet spot and good balanced feeling in my hand. It's a great racket for beginners that won't break the bank, but is not so cheap that it'll affect your game. It's the perfect balance of value and quality. Even intermediate players I think would like this racket.....maybe even advanced players (I don't know....because I'm not an advanced player, yet! LOL). Just adding to my review here...I just received another racket in the mail today to test that has an opening in the paddle head (I'm sure there some fancy name for that, but I'm not sure what it is). I really wanted to try a racket with this feature. This new racket is nice, but the VA1KENE racket has a much better feel to it and most noticeable difference is the grit on the face of the VA1KENE is much better than this other new racket....which I assume and hope means more spin on the ball.

I am a pickelball player in the making. That is to say, I haven't played yet but I want to! I ordered this paddle because research suggests that these carbon fiber paddles are a bit better than the basic fiberglass paddles. I have no experience so I can't speak much about this paddle, except to say that it feels good in my hands and I'm excited to give it a try. It's got a lot more texture than one of the other paddles I ordered.

I'm pretty new to pickleball but wanted a paddle that is a bit better quality than the fiberglass paddle I've been using. This one has a decent amount of texture on it and grips the ball. Maybe it's just in my head, but it seems I can guide the ball better with this paddle. I also serve better with it. I've had a lot of balls end up in the kitchen or out of bounds serving with the fiberglass paddle, but I get better control on my serves with this one. I can't say how this compares to other paddles in this price range, but for a beginner like myself it's made a difference. I don't know if I can ever justify buying a more expensive paddle than this, but for the level I'm at now this is plenty. And I've also become a little more aggressive on the court since I'm more confident now. Pickleball is a lot of fun, and I'm seeing how the paddle you play with can make a difference in your game.
