I am writing this review going back and forth between rating this 2 or 3 stars. I started playing in March, and it's almost July, so I've gotten a lot of time playing with this so far and it has held up pretty well for the most part. The edge guard is starting to come up a little but overall it has been pretty durable. I play 3-4 times a week so it has seen a lot of action. The grit wears off a bit, but still enough to generate spin. However, there's a lot more that goes into creating spin than the textured surface, so I don't even care that it isn't as gritty as it was before. The biggest issue is how thin and hollow the paddle is compared to the 16mm options out there, but even 13mm competitors have a much more solid feel and larger sweet spot. The sweet spot on this is not very good or forgiving at all. There are a lot of review sites out there that rate this paddle highly, even saying it is a good mid level option. To be clear, this is probably a step up from most beginner paddles but if you become addicted to playing pickleball, do yourself a favor and get a higher quality paddle that you can continue using as your skill level increases. Nobody uses this in tournament play. This is a good paddle to get if you want something higher quality than those starter packs, but not wanting to dump 180+ into one of the better options. I'll go ahead and give 3 stars since it has lasted me a while, and I will probably continue to use it until I can justify spending another $200 on a new paddle, but man, it feels like there's a lot of dead spots now. The sweet spot keeps shrinking.

Elongated on one side and you could see that the wrap at the top of the handle was crooked and that's the second time I got defective it also doesn't resemble the color in the photo and I have an old one and this has a better surface but not a good handle and if I could get it in great shape brand new I was still have it cuz I'm going to play right now

Seemed fine. But when i went down and put my hand down, the paddle broke. I didn't put my full weight on it, it shouldn't have broke. Super bummed. But, they came thru big time and backed their product. That’s rare these days. Thank you and I look forward to getting on the court with a great paddle.

This is a great paddle: it's durable, has good spin but at the same time is also pretty solid and can be a heavy hitter. It's suitable for all levels of players and feels high quality. This paddle was actually an upgrade for me from an older champion graphite paddle, which I've had for 7 years now. It arrived sooner than expected as well. I highly recommend these champion paddles.

So this paddle has the classic teardrop shape that the Venom paddles introduced years ago. This shape was advertised as having a head heavy feel that tennis players find similar to the tennis feel. I found it to be true and met many other players saying the same thing. The new Champion paddle has that same feel and is almost a full ounce lighter at 7.1 oz. verses the Venom 8.1 oz. I ended up adding 0.5 oz. in lead strips to the head area to get more pop from the lighter paddle. This paddle also has a more touch at the kitchen probably due to the new materials and lighter weight. I like this paddle and will probably use it as my primary paddle.

This paddle was great for power from baseline, control at the kitchen, and spin off the face. That is until it snapped in half where the handle and face meet. Snapped when I returned a baseline shot at the kitchen. I’ve never seen a paddle break before!
