1.4 inches actual diameter, fairly comfortable in the hand, and doesn't seem to shed too much. I was specifically trying to avoid a rope that smelled like chemicals, because I can only imagine what trash they spin together in China to sell, or how it's treated. I mounted the rope in my garage and climb with my arms only and my legs straight out. The rope has held up well to this and my kids swinging around on it. It's size is good and doesn't produce cramps like it would if too small. After seeing others though that come with caribeners I am sad that this one did not. It would have been nice for swapping out for the boxing bag. ... show more
