Got this for a stairwell that had only 1 switch located at the top of the stairs so that we could combine with 2 Aurora rotart switches adding a second switch downstairs. No Hue Bridge and never using the Bluetooth/wifi functions on the App so can't speak to any of those functions. The combo with 2 Aurora switches worked perfect. An expensive setup but cheaper and less permanent than running new wiring in a 140 year old house lol. It is definitely a bright bulb too and gives off more heat than other lower wattage Hue bulbs but that's to be expected. With LEDs that heat should only shorten the lifespan of the bulb itself rather than be any kind of actual risk. Color temp is pleasant too - not too warm, not too cool - fine in daytime or evening in the hallway. Dims nicely with no flicker or stutters. ... show more

I have a number of Philips Hue bulbs (and base station) and I'm not sure of the value in today's market. They are very well made and I would think will outlast some of the competition, but the price is high. This one is also considerably taller than a standard bulb so you may have trouble fitting it. I originally went with Hue for security reasons but I've upgraded my home network considerably so Wifi-based devices are an option. If you just have a normal router and one hotspot and are not highly knowledgable about networking, I would recommend strongly against using any Wifi bulbs and suggest using something like this instead with its own base station. ... show more

I have 9 of these bulbs, and 1 of the rope versions, and they work great!! Very bright and the app works perfect. You can put them on timers or just turn them on and off from anywhere. Colors look good so it’s fun to put that on for the holidays.

I bought this lightbulb for my bathroom and it is a pretty small room so I wouldn't need a very bright light but I had bought the second brightest lightbulb and didn't like how it wasn't very bright so I got this one, and it wasn't very much brighter, it is still pretty easy to set up though and has some cool features in the app if you have the hue bridge. ... show more

    • 100W replacements are just what we needed for a dark living room

We were early adopters, and those original lights were 50 or 70 watt replacements. We absolutely love them. We've been using them for years with Siri and Alexa, and they work wonderfully. Our living room was still a bit dim, so when we saw 100 watt replacements, we jumped on them and bought 8 bulbs. Seems like it is expensive, but these things have seriously lasted years without any hiccup at all. It was easy to replace the bulbs we had - my wife would turn lights she had synced green to keep up with which ones she'd already done, so in a few minutes after installing them we were up and running like normal. The other bulbs are being dispersed around the house to sockets that didn't have these hue bulbs so now our whole house is covered. Our living room is much brighter now, and we can set mood lighting for movies and watching TV. Great product, the 100 watt replacement is a very welcomed upgrade. ... show more

I want to save people hours of their life they'll never get back trying to connect this lightbulb to Alexa or Google Assistant (GA) without the use of any hub at all. Just move on and don't try it. I want to first state that this product does correctly state that Alexa and Google Assistant (GA) are supported with the use of hubs; however, there is plenty of literature on search engines that give procedures for controlling this lightbulb with GA on an Android phone WITHOUT a hub (hence having voice activated controlled of the hue). This information is out-of-date. Through triage of various Amazon reviews, it appears controlling a Phillips hue lightbulb with GA through a Bluetooth connection was possible up until sometime in 2021. There are several reviews of successful operation in 2020. Then in 2021, a reviewer stated that a previously working GA-hue pairing stopped working. Subsequently, all reviewers state this functionality is no longer achievable. I gave three stars because, although the hue worked nicely through the hue app with Bluetooth, Phillips should have created a new product page, with clear disclaimer that hub(s) are required, and removed all instructions for hub-less GA-hue operation when that functionality ceased to exist. ... show more

I have many Hue bulbs that have been working perfectly for many years now - never had an issue until this brighter bulb. It died after just 2 weeks of use. It will not turn on at all - tried all the troubleshooting. I'm returning for a replacement.

Have many of these in the house in several rooms along with light switches and other smart home products. This attached to the Hue hub quite easily as they always do and so far it is working fine where it is placed. It is very nice that Philips came out with a brighter bulb finally. Since it is an even 100 watt equivalent it's easy to figure out what wattage it is when you dim it by any percentage. Example would be if you make it 50% then it's pretty much equal to 50 watts, 75% is 75 watts and so on! Alexa can turn this one on and off as I wish with just a few words. Just as a side note if this is in a socket controlled by a light switch get yourself a switch cover to help you not turn it off. These need to be continuously powered to work. ... show more
