  • Everything as I wanted so far
Size: 34 in UltraWide QHD Style: B10 Line | Curved | USB-C Docking Pattern: Monitor
Edit May 2023: still loving it months later. Some minor edits below. ----------------- I'm just a few days into using the monitor, but zero complaints so far. I'll run down different aspects I considered when deciding on this monitor vs the many competing options. First & foremost, the 5 stars reflects getting a quality monitor, mostly as advertised, for a very solid price. Some competing monitors are more than 2x the price, so that factors into the rating. --General screen impressions: It's crisp, wide, and the curve is pleasing. I use this monitor for work, with occasional light video watching (eg youtube). The 1500R curve is great for sitting at desk distance. The picture quality for that is more than enough and I see no issues. If, like me, you're not a total connoisseur of screens, then you'll be in good shape and things like a lack of HDR aren't a big deal. I wouldn't likely even notice the difference vs the highest priced screens. It works very well for professional (non-creative) uses where I frequently take advantage of the large real estate to view multiple windows simultaneously. One note - the monitor is actually 60hz native, not the 100hz highlighted on the amazon page. You can get to 100hz via certain setting modifications, but it seems there are some tradeoffs. --Connectors: this was a key attraction for me, and it's working. You need to download a driver update for the ethernet port, but once I did then it is working to pass along reliable hardline internet to my machine (Thinkpad X1) via the USB C connection. That USB C is also handling the AV connection itself, and regular USB inputs like my keyboard and webcam (the monitor does not have a built in camera, which I knew, and that's fine). I was able to also have the USB C pass power, but - one small knock - that seemed to create overload on the connection. The screen would randomly recycle, and at one point my machine put itself to sleep cause I guess it thought it was on battery mode. So, I'm keeping the laptop plugged in with its own charging port, and then it works really smooth. Still a big gain in clutter reduction & easier dock/undock for the machine. (Edit: new ASUS machine in 2023 and it works cleanly on one plug for everything, including power) The extra usb ports on the side are definitely going to be useful, compared to some monitors that have only one or two. And of course it has standard DP and HDMI ports on the back, which I'm not gonna use. --Speakers: this was a minor but important consideration for me and they seem solid for their purpose. Just like with the USB C connector, I want less clutter. So, I don't want to have to use extra speakers. And the sound I need is for video conferences (google & zoom) plus occasional casual video/music. For that, the speakers work well and are powerful enough to hear fine & clear. Music is a bit...mushy is maybe the word. They aren't producing great sound quality, but if you buy a monitor for that then idk what you're thinking. -- Features & options: this isn't the most feature rich monitor, but it has a list of "modes" you can choose from, plus a menu accessed via the bevel buttons which is easy enough to navigate. Plus you can move where it appears, which is helpful on such a big screen. ... show more

  • Setup of Phillips 346B1C in PBP mode in Full screen
Size: 34 in UltraWide QHD Style: B10 Line | Curved | USB-C Docking Pattern: Monitor
I really liked this 34" Phillips monitor. I had got it to use with my office Lenovo Thinkpad 480s and my MacBook Pro 13" (late 2016). The monitor display looks gorgeous when it works standalone with either Lenovo or MacBook. However I wanted to use in PBP mode (so I can use my MacBook and Lenovo at the same time) and I was not able to get full screen for both Lenovo and MacBook. Also the mouse was only working with the device connected with USB C. Called Phillips Tech Support, they could not help much. Asked me to talk to Apple and Lenovo Customer Support. I then sent an email with my issue with pictures to Phillips CS. Received no acknowledgement of the email. Sent a reminder email and finally got an acknowledgement, but no resolution. After spending a week playing around with different display, text etc. settings on Lenovo and MacBook, I was able to get the full screen on both Lenovo and MacBook. I would like Phillips to update their documentation for the same as well for other users to use this information. Lenovo setting - Click on Display. Set " Show Only on 2" (Phillips Monitor. Click on Advanced Display setting. Select Display 2 (Phillips Monitor). Click on Display Adapter properties for Display 2. Click on " List Modes" on Adapter tab. Select 1280X1024 with 75 HZ. This would make the Monitor work in Full Screen in PBP mode for Lenovo. Macbook setting - Click on System preferences. Click on Display. For the Phillips Monitor setting, Click on "Option" and Scaled, you will get a resolution for for 1720 X 1440. This would make the Monitor work in Full Screen in PBP mode for Macbook. The mouse issue is still not resolved. I am using two mouses as of now. Finally I am happy that I can use the monitor for the reason I bought it for. Some wishlist items: - PIP Screen should be user movable instead of settings. You cannot view some stuff on bigger screen due to the placement of the small screen. - Bluetooth to connect mouse and keyboard. Updates : - mouse moves to both laptops using KVM switch. - Lenovo also works at 1720 X 1440 by changing resolution settings in Intel graphics manager. ... show more
