  • Can't wait to wear it on a trip
Color: Red/Charcoal
***Updated*** 2May2014 I ended up wearing this pack for the most part of 6 hours. I carried my 23lb son and all the items to support him along with the water bladder for drinking. I found the foot stirrups worked best through the top looped handle. My sons feet were supported and perfect for blood circulation supporting the 60% reason we got this carrier. At the end of the trip the only problem was from the stand. It had come out of the plastic rotating support bracket. This did malfunction on the subway on the way home so, I didn't care at that point. Simple fix though. Last, the only sore part on me were my hips from the tight belt around my waist keeping the pack stable. I enjoyed DC using the pack and I'm sure my son had a great time chilling in the pack versus staring at butts in a stroller. ***Original post*** The first one came broken from the shipment. After Amazon's amazing work I had a new one at the door and was shoving my kid in it to test it. The extra backpack and the foot straps/stirups were the deciding factor for us. Barefeet don't stay in the stirups to well. Maybe a shoe'd foot will do better. Once again i have only had this for 2 days now and I have only been able to move around the house with it. Trying to get the weight settled on my hips is another task. There are only 6 straps that all have to be let out or taken in to help position the weight right. My shoulders and arms do start losing blood flow if the packs weight is all on my shoulders so set up is essential. Picking up and setting down alone is a sweet task that allows you to scare your child and work a smile out. With a buddy, it is no problem. Once on, it is like a heavy backpack. I enjoy putting my son in it and running through the house with him. I am taking a site seeing tour to the city including boarding metros so i will have plenty to talk about once I return around 15Apr.2014 ... show more

  • Good for a fat daddy.
Color: Red/Charcoal
I'm still not entirely sure where I will use this. I've always been very torn between having my hands free and having the convenience of a good stroller. I'm a big guy. 6' and 300lbs. So the majority of the carriers out today squish my poor boy against me. Even if it fits well any movement and the poor guy is really plastered. So soft carriers just aren't practical. So I got this to try a hard carrier where his compartment would be for lack of a better phrase protected from my fatness. In that regard this carrier works. My guy is sitting in his little sling and my movements don't affect how much space he has. The pack is comfortable enough, but nothing extraordinary compared to what I've tried otherwise. The waist belt just fits. I never know if it's better under or over gut, but hey, that's my fault. I do find the little waist storage is pretty much at my back and inaccessible. The torso is also a little short even at the longest setting. Getting him in and out is easy and can be done by myself. That's a huge benefit over soft carriers. I see so many moms swinging that kid on their back perilously above the ground. I haven't tried any other hard packs. I'm not a big hiker so this will mostly be city use and it was the most compact i found that still had some bells and whistles. The giant osprey and the like I can only imagine knocking someone over when I turned. So overall I'm happy. I wish it came in sizes. It's actually more a height thing than an I'm a fat daddy thing. A longer torso would have been welcome. Other than that I think I'll keep it. ... show more

  • Don't let the carrier-snobs fool you! 5 stars all day!
Color: Charcoal/Charcoal
After much research, review, and debate, my wife and I agreed on this pack to haul around our little beautiful maniac. We wanted a carrier that was big enough to haul the boy+his nicknacks, yet small enough that we weren't knocking things over when we turned around. I read every review on pretty much every single pack comperable to this in price/size. I looked through other websites where each pack was broken down and ranked based on numerous specifications and features. As far as the reviews for this pack: One person said the shoulder straps "cut" into there shoulders. The straps are extremely comfortable and wide. Well padded. The quality is noticeable immediately. I think what you have to realize before buying this carrier- is the design. It's meant to be more sleek, smaller than the other comperable frame packs. So are there other carriers out there that offer more comfort? I'm sure there are. I would liken this to a well-padded back pack. There is a very ridged and lightweight frame, however unlike other designs- it doesn't tower 2 feet above your head. It's comfortable, but you have to keep in mind you're hauling a living person in it. There has to be some expected level of discomfort when you consider that fact. Our son is 6 1/2 months old and tips the scale @ 21lbs. We recently took it out for our annul "post turkey-trek" up and down moderately rough terrain for approximately 1 hour. When we got back to the car I could've kept going for another 5 hours. Granted I'm 6'2" and 200lbs, but I'm no athlete. Just an average joe with incredibly strong shoulders and traps (jk). My wife wore it around the house, and for her the only problem is feeling "helpless" to help him if he fell. You just have to get used to it. It's scary at first because you're wanting to make sure your little one is in there secure- so I would encourage you to get really familiar with all the straps and (tons) of adjustments that can be made. These adjustments don't just ensure the safety of your tyke, they also help with your comfort. If you wear the pack and it is uncomfortable at first, don't be discouraged, just try some different adjustments until you find your "fit". Wow, I'm still writing this review. Time to wrap it up. It comes with everything. Shade, stirrups(?), changing pad, head rest, storage, kickstand. Good quality. This product deserves a better rating than it has. PS. I do not work for Phil or Ted lol lol lol! ****update**** Baby#2 & the Escape is still going strong!! And this dude is HUGE. ... show more
