I first dabbled with this set with the kick mic, and like it so much I went ahead and bought the whole set. The tom and snare mics sound similar to using SM-57s for a fraction of the price. The overhead pick up the entire kit extremely well... So we'll that I had to raise them up higher to cut down on cymbal wash. Mounting the mics to the rims is fairly straightforward, and a little tricky, but one you figure out the first one, the rest clip right on. The set is fairly versatile, I've used the overheads and tom mics to record orchestra instruments and guitars. The kick mic also works well on large floor toms. They sell the all the microphones separately so if you have a bigger kit and need more mics, buying additionals is cost effective and won't break the bank. The value here is incredible, I would expect a mic set like this to cost at least $500-$600, but for sub $200 is it amazing! ... show more

Great microphone set for drums. The kit includes everything needed for a complete setup, and the carrying case keeps everything organized. Great value for the price. Versatile

    • Fantastic Mic Set, get these!

I love Phenyx Pro! Little history, I been playing music and running sound for about 30 years. I've used about every mic brand out there. The last to nights of shows I used the new Phenyx Pro drum mics. They did an outstanding job. As with an mic, you do have some EQing to taste. I did have to adjust the kick mic a bit from my standard EQ, but not much. The other mics were perfect. Sound quality is great!! The mics are very solid in construction and come in a metal case. For the money you can't beat these(pun intended). Easy to set up and use. Just a heads up, the clamps that fit the ring are tight, great thing because they won't move once you get them set. You just can't go wrong with these! ... show more

    • Decent starter mics
The mics sound great for the price for sure. Only downsides I came across are that the included clips don’t work on our drummer’s porkpie snare drum so I had to use a clip from a different set for it. The case is nice enough, but it’s just plastic and not aluminum like it looks. If you can’t afford better, I’d say these are the best you can get for the price. ... show more

    • Excellent
They are surprisingly good. They not too notch high end mics but for the price I can’t complain.

    • Big improvement!
I had been using a hodge podge of microphones to record with, vocal mics, hanging from my floor joists over my toms and cymbals, with a couple others in the bass drum. They did okay, but not great. After getting these, installing them, and getting my mix and levels dialed in, I am happy with them. I am currently working on a new song, and so far, with just drums and bass, it sounds professional. I highly recommend for the casual drummer. ... show more

    • Mics work great, but the clips don't work on drums.
The mics sound great, but the clips to connect them to the drum, snare or tom, do not work AT ALL, I had to order a different set from Amazon to be able to use the mics. The overall use of the mics I would give a 5 star rating but for not being able to connect them to a drum I lowered it to a 3.

I have been playing drums for 20+ years, and these mics are the best bang for your buck out there. I received these mics, and brought them to a church I was filling in at, just to give them a try, without telling anyone I didnt use their mic kit they provide. The sound guys, worship pastor, and others on staff, but not affiliated with the musical department all asked me what I did differently, because that was the best the drums had sounded in years. I told them the only thing I did was use my mic set. They told me it was leaps and bounds better than their $3000 dollar mic set they use on any other Sunday. Keep in mind, this was without letting anyone know I was using my own mics. If that doesn't sell you on the value of these mics, nothing will. Go buy them! ... show more
