Features

  • BEFORE USE: Put the included potassium chloride powder into 20ml of pure water and mix well. Then put the probe into the solution for 24 hours, take it out and clean the residual solution on the surface of the sensitive bulb. Now, you can start to calibrate. (Note: If the sponge is wet enough, please skip this step.)
  • DURING USE: If there is inaccurate calibration, repeat the step of 'Before Use'. If using your own potassium chloride powder, prepare the solution by adding 61.5g of KCL into 250ml of water. Then, put the probe into the solution for 24 hours, take it out and clean the residual solution on the surface of the sensitive bulb. Now, you can start to calibrate.
  • AFTER USE: To ensure the activity of the sensitive bulb, add a drop of newly prepared potassium chloride solution into the sponge inside the probe cover. Also, to better maintain the activity of the sensitive bulb, add the solution to the sponge every two months.
  • NotificationCalibrate once per week if you often test solution of PH <4 or >10, or once per half month for neutral solutions. The 250ml calibration solution for multiple uses (10ml or so each time). Then rinse the electrode with pure water before next test. Rinse and rest 3-5 min before conversing from strong acid to strong alkaline and vice versa.
  • Automatic Calibration We make your job faster and easier than ever with this convenient PH tester! With the 3-point calibration procedures, your PH testing device will automatically identify the calibration solutions to give you your reading in a snap.
  • Automatic Temperature Compensation Temperature can affect reading levels, our PH meter's automatic temperature compensation can ensure that you're getting the best possible reading. Unlike other PH metersthat only have a range of 0-50 degree, ours has a even better range of 0-70 degree, so you can test with confidence in any environment.
  • Clear Digital Display with Alerts Tired of squinting at a small screen to get your readings? Enjoy this PH meter's large, backlit LCD screen that displays the information in an intuitive layout so you can still see even in low visibility situations. When the PH value is lower than 3.5 or higher than 12.5, the white digital display will change to red and flash to alert you.
  • User Friendly You can easily replace the 2 AAA batteries when it's time, and you can also activate the 15-minute auto-off functionality to save battery. Plus, it even comes with a storage case to keep it safe and protected when you're on the go.

  • Completely bunk
Update: Seller (Thousandshores Inc) was very responsive and sent a replacement right away. The replacement calibrated and gave successful readings. Readings take about a minute to settle, but they seem to be accurate and reproducible (precise). So, I'm updating my rating from one start to four. We'll use it some, and decide if the rating should go up more. Thanks Thousandshores. ----- We followed all of the instructions, prepared the buffers, carefully cleaned before and between each calibration step, with distilled water. Had a chemist re-perform the calibration process. All for naught. Every time you take a reading it's completely different. After calibration, take a reading on a solution and it says 6.7. Clean and re-perform: 8.3. Clean and re-perform again: 7.5. Clean and re-perform another time: 5.6. Absolutely useless. It would get 0 stars if I could give zero. I was sure I was doing something wrong, so tried several times, got the chemist involved, etc. And now the return window is past, so I'm stuck with it. My fault for not being more attentive to that detail. UPDATE: The seller (Thousandshores Inc) has handled this phenomenally, going out of their way to get another meter to me. It arrived in record time. Assuming this unit works, all is well and I'll update the rating.... ... show more

  • Replaced and working well
This ph meter will not decide on a ph level. It ranges over a full point when trying to wait for it to give a final reading. It never does. up and down, up and down. I was thinking it was affected by electrical fields, so I took it into the center of my front yard to test the theory: up and down, up and down. Nothing is affecting it, it just doesn't work. This is the second one that acts this way. I had an unlighted one that worked for over a year, then started fluctuating. I bought a lighted one to make things easier on myself, and it doesn't work out of the box. If I didn't have a lot of experience with ph meters, I would think I was doing something wrong. Doesn't seem to be any quality testing going on. Ripped off again. sigh. Edit: I was contacted by the seller and offered a replacement. Since I had thrown the bad one out in a temper, I didn't ask, but they offered a replacement anyway. I have used it for a couple days now and the meter is fully functional. It works as it should and seems accurate. I should have requested a replacement from the start. The illuminated display is a real help when reaching down into a well cover. ... show more

  • A very good meter for non-professional lab use
This meter is good for indoor use where temperatures do not fluctuate too much. Accurate to 0.1 pH. Good for general use. The bulb is very sensitive and broke when changing from 68 *F to 40*F. I will use the cheap meters from now on. They are accurate to 0.2 pH.

  • Lasted about a year
Original: Worked fine for a year, then just stopped recognizing re-calibration. Unit just started displaying 0.00 and 14.00 randomly, then wouldn't calibrate. Tried new batteries and lens cleaning, but to no avail. Manual was no help with this issue. Best to look elsewhere. Update: Vendor read the above and sent a new unit. (Thanks for that.) It calibrated fine and appears to be accurate when compared with my higher-end meter. Overall, I like the unit and its features. So, upgrade the original one-star rating to three-and-a-half for the attentive customer service... and just hope this one lasts more than a year. ... show more

  • No more dipsticks!
As a personal cannabis grower using an indoor tent and AutoPot hydroponic style system keeping pH levels in appropriate range does not need to be a guessing game at reading the dip sticks. This has made my life so much easier and my plants are showing it. I do a daily check on my reservoir water. Keep a gallon or two of distilled water on hand to rinse off the meter and do calibration. Distilled water is all of 99 cents so not a big deal. At first I worried that calibration would be hard but it is not. I have a sensitive digital thermometer and it was no problem making sure the distilled water was at the appropriate temperature. That would be the one thing to pay attention to. I am not sure what would happen if you calibrate outside the temp range instructed but really, if you are into growing and putting a ton of effort and money into making sure everything is perfect and in range, this is no problem. Being somewhat of a chemistry techno-geek though this kind of stuff is right up my alley. Although it does not text chlorine (those meters that are dual chlorine and pH are astronomically expensive) it is worth it to do a spot check on the hot tub, too. The price point on this meter is appropriate. No complaints. Happy plants happy family. ... show more
