We got this for a stray that showed up at our farm this spring. Several months later and there's no indication that he's leaving so I thought it was right to give him somewhere to sleep. I purchased a K&H 12.5 x 18.5 heating pad to go along with it. I've put together several dog houses, chicken coops, and rabbit hutches. This was, by far, the easiest. It could have been a 10 minute job but it took a little longer since I caulked joints. The house was extremely well packed and there was zero damage on receipt. Everything lined up on assembly with holes pre-drilled where I needed them and no missing screws. The assembled house looks exactly like the picture on the Amazon page. Because of the design, the house is extremely sturdy. What you can't see in the photo is the thick plastic sheet on the inside of either roof panel -- it will be waterproof. The heating pad I purchased barely fit. Another 1/16" and it would have been a no-go. As it is, I had to put the pad in before attaching the last roof panel. That may be an issue when it comes time to clean it out. Just to be safe, I didn't caulk that side. I opened up the back door this morning and "Bob" came stretching out of the house; I guess it's Bob-approved. It has to be better than sleeping under the porch. I'll feel better this winter knowing that he has somewhere warm and dry.

Very easy to assemble. I added some calk on all the places where the walls were attached to insure water proofing. Works, I have washed it down a few times and it stays dry inside, Seems small but cats like cozy and they can fit in anything. My cats weighs 13lbs and he gets in when he wants. Thinking about drilling a few small holes at the top front ridge to help let warm air out.

This is a well designed outdoor cat house, made of quality materials. Judging by the grain of the wood and the smell, I believe it is a Chinese evergreen (I have a plant stand of the same material), so it should hold up well in the weather. There are no gaps between the boards that make up the sides and although I was thinking it might be good to put a bead of caulk or plastic at the top where the sides meet before putting the ridge piece on, it was not necessary. The board is not flat on both sides, but is milled with angles to precisely fit so no water can get in. The inside walls are covered with a heavy plastic sheeting that will also help keep moisture out. I really like the clear plastic escape door, which would prevent them from being trapped and also makes it more inviting for more timid cats. It was easy to put together, as the places for screws are all pre-drilled and there are small dowel protrusions on the sides that fit into holes, so before you insert the screws the parts will line up precisely. Even the packaging was top notch, with paper and styrofoam protecting all the parts from being scratched or dented. The screws are mounted on a piece of cardboard, printed with labels and pictures of the screws, so you can easily match them with the well written instructions. There is so much attention to detail, it makes it even more disappointing that they totally dropped the ball when it comes to the bottom part and floor. The floor is made of two sections that rest on a small 1/2 ledge that projects from the walls, and that is all that keeps your cat off the ground. There are no feet, so the sides of the wall and the floor will be sitting directly on the ground if you don't supply your own base of some type, so eventually it will rot. If it rains, the floor would very likely get water inside from underneath, as each section has a hole in it so you can stick a finger in it to move/adjust it. Also, if it is not on an even base and the cat puts more pressure on one side than the other, the section could tip up and pinch a toe/nail in it, which certainly would at the very least discourage them from using it. These problems could be easily solved at a minimal expense, or they could even make an optional base you could buy separately. For now, I put it on two concrete blocks, one at the front and rear, with a little bit of the block protruding past the doors to make it easy to step up. That leaves a gap underneath between the blocks, which they like to sneak under. If you don't want a gap, one more block would do the trick. You could also use patio stones, or buy a 4 x 4 at H*me Dep*t or L*we's and have them cut it in smaller sections and use that instead to sit it on. Plan on the fact that it will definitely need to be raised off the floor or ground, which they also mention in the description. I also plan to put a heavy waterproof mat on the floor to keep toes out of any gaps and also weatherproof it a little more. All that being said, I think it is a very nice cat or small dog kennel and my cats seem to agree. It gives me a little more peace of mind when my stubborn cats refuse to come inside.

I bought this for the feral cat that hangs out in my backyard. I am hoping it deters her from sitting on my furniture. She took a day or two to go into it (I put the towel that she usually sleeps on, inside the house), but she has been in it every morning since. I did put a layer of wax on it before I put it outside so hopefully it won't fade or dry out for a few years. I plan on putting it inside a flower bed and raising it off the ground with some bricks to keep the moisture from the floor. I think I will have to cover it with a small tarp when it rains (we live in California, so three time a year should do it:) ). My husband put it together in no time and was impressed with the quality. The wooden floor is in two pieces that have finger holes for you to grab and pull out of the doorway. You can also easily remove the floor by tilting the house on its back and taking the floor out that way. It seems well made, and it is quite adorable. The back door is plexi-glass, and has a cut out paw print - very cute. I was very happy to see that if something chases her into the house, she has another escape route.

Nice little shelter for an outdoor cat. Super easy to put together. I did make a small cutout in one of the floor boards to allow space for a pet heating pad chord to run to a nearby outlet. I also added mylar type insulation on the inside walls. That saw super easy. Just trim to size and use a staple gun to secure. Filled the shelter with straw and our kitty has been comfortable down to about 25’. Terry from Texas

Sturdy and heavy, definitely weatherproof. Very easy to assemble, and super-fast shipping. We bought one for our porch cat and when another feral cat adopted us, we ordered one for her. We fit each one with outdoor-rated heating pads and the houses are exactly what we need. It was also difficult to find a house with a back door, this house has a no-resistance wood-frame flap door with a clear plastic window; keeps the wind out but they can see out both sides and escape either way. Excellent design.
