  • Easy for dogs to see out window which keeps them happy
Style: Quilted Tan
Puppy is much happier now that he can see out the window. I’m happy that he is safe when in the car. The only thing I would suggest is more padding around the top edges. He likes to hang his head over the edge and it just some cloth and hard plastic

  • Size well-suited for dachshund: 24 lbs, 32 long
Style: Navy
Our dachshund, Mojo, insists on sitting on our lap when driving, which is uncomfortable for everyone involved and unsafe. I bought this animal safety seat because it seemed big enough (it was) and its height is boosted so that Mojo can see out the window. Mojo was noncommittal at first about riding in the safety seat, but he became totally inured when he realized he could sit and nap comfortably while riding along in the car. The family is happy to have unloaded 24 pounds of dachshund flesh from our laps. Mojo now rides along with us much more often, especially since the seat is fairly easy to mount/dismount, although the process is by nature awkward. Mojo weighs 24 pounds and measures 32 inches from the base of his tail to the tip of his nose. ... show more

This is the perfect size for my fur baby. He loves to lay down and watch the cars go by. Actually cannot secure with seatbelt in my car, had to order straps to fit car seat hooks.

  • Perfect safety seat for small dogs
Style: Quilted Tan
After my 20 lb French bulldog mix collapsed his previous flimsy carseat by chewing through the supporting frame on one of the sides, I spent quite a bit of time looking for a new one that would be safe and durable, I came across the Solvit safety seat. I really liked that the restraint tether connects to your car seatbelt and not the carseat itself. My dog kept getting ridiculously tangled in the tether that was connected to the bottom of his previous carseat because it comes up from underneath him to his back where it connects to his harness and it was constantly getting wrapped around his leg or torso. The Solvit tether, when connected to the shoulder belt, does not wrap around him. I almost didn't buy this seat because of all the reviews saying how difficult it was to assemble, or how flimsy and brittle the plastic was. I'm really glad I order it anyway because the assembly directions were very clear and easy to follow, and I did not find the plastic brittle or flimsy. It bent where it was supposed to and didn't crack. And it held up to my 40lb daughter sitting in it. The frame took literally five minutes to put together and did not require any amount of strength. I'm not a handy person at all by the way. Every hole has a letter by it and the tab that goes into the hole has the same letter. All that's required is that you put the tab into the corresponding hole, making sure the smooth side of the pieces faces into the seat interior and the holey side faces out, and then you slide the tab into place. That's it. It took me longer to figure out how the fabric goes on the frame than it did for me to assemble the frame itself, but that's probably because I tried to do it without reading the instructions at first. So, the takeaway is, read the instructions. Then everything will be easy. Haha! After the seat is assembled, my dog jumped into it right away and proceeded to chew a cow ear in it. The cow ear fell out a few times and he jumped out, picked it up, and jumped back into the seat to continue chewing. So I guess he really likes the seat and has no trouble getting in and out of it! I was worried that the seat wasn't deep enough when I looked at it online, but as you can see from my photo, it does have depth to it so that the dog wouldn't fall out. In fact it's probably the perfect depth so that a small dog can easily get in by itself. When installed in the car, the Solvit seat raises my dog to the perfect height to see out of the window of my Acura MDX. The top of the seat comes to the bottom of the car window. The seatbelt went through easily and holds the seat securely. It barely budges when pulled on in the bucket front passenger seat even though there is a gap between the Solvit seat and the backrest of the bucket seat. The Solvit seat does not fit in the back passenger seat with a child carseat installed in the middle, at least not in my SUV. It's slightly wider than the width of my bucket seats, which probably is why it's secure and stable in a bucket seat, but means it takes up slightly more room. Overall a perfect carseat for my little dog! Do not hesitate to get it if you're on the fence like I was! ... show more

  • Anxiety reducer
Style: Brown
I love this dog seat. My dog is 30 lbs, and probably on the tail end of fitting into this thing. If she curls up, she can fit just fine, but often she will rest her head on the side, or stay sitting during the ride. I purchased this for my dog after realizing that she was a wannabe-lap dog during car rides, which obviously isn't safe. Even in small wrecks and accidents, the inertia can throw humans, so it can definitely throw a much smaller dog. I am in a situation where I make a 16 hour or so drive about 4 to 6 times a year right now as well, so I wanted something to ease my mind, even if it isn't crash tested (almost no dog safety products are, so that isn't a knock or anything). I pair this with the Kurgo car safety harness and drive much more relaxed knowing that if we hit a bump or anything might happen, both myself and my dog are strapped in. As far as comfort, I wouldn't say my dog fell in love with the car seat or anything. She would much rather be on my lap in the car than anywhere else, but she would also love cheese for every meal - not the most trustworthy source. I will say she is calmer in the seat, has fallen asleep multiple times, and isn't tensed to keep her balance while there either. It's important to me that this car seat isn't a constant work out for her either. The seat is tall, and my dog already has somewhat long legs (for a french bulldog), so she definitely has a great view when sitting up in the seat. I try to keep the car seat in the back seat of my car because I can't manually disable the passenger airbag in the front (same reason you put your kids in the backseat, the airbag could do more harm than good in a wreck), but it does fit in the front of my '16 Jeep Wrangler, perfectly, with barely any room, if/when need be. I think that snug fit when it is in the front seat also helps my dog feel more secure. For quality, the hard plastic of the bed seems really sturdy, and the lining has held up well to a LOT of use. I did take the cushion out, because it ended up slipping around and putting my dog off balance. I replaced it with two bunched up dog blankets and a fluffy dog toy that she can use as a pillow when she wants. My main concern is that the security of the bed relies on the security of my car's seatbelt, not some straps attached to the bed itself, which is the case here at two separate attachment points. I have not, luckily, tested this in any sort of incident except bumpy roads. My only complaint would be the attachment process, which can be a bear, looping the seatbelt through one side, then through the harness attachment, then through the other side, then buckling it, but that is what makes it safe so I don't actually mind. One suggestion would be a side pocket to store a leash and some doggy bags. ... show more

I think this is going to be great. Vivien loves it!! I got the small one and it's perfect. Nice and tall so she can see out of the window. Looks very nice. I thought it was easy to assemble and install in the car.
