We have a busy household with multiple pets, and these PetSafe CozyUp stairs have been one of the absolute best purchases we’ve made for them. We specifically went with the 25-inch X-Large model because our bed sits up quite high, and these reach the perfect height without making the incline too steep for our animals to navigate comfortably. After using the product for a few weeks, I made two minor changes which has made these perfect for our pups to get on and off all our taller bed. The Pros: Tall Lightweight Folding Padding for stairs to reduce nail clicks as they use the stairs May work on getting into some trucks and SUVs (see last paragraph) Cons: The pros above make it so the stairs can give an unsteady feeling despite being robust. Easily fixed with recommendations below. One mistake I made was not tightly securing the stairs to the bed frame when I first set them up. On a wood floor, the stairs can give an uneasy feeling especially to larger dogs. There is a tiny bit of slide and wobble when initial weight is applied. In the beginning, the pups were unusually timid or hasty about using them. I ended up using two Irvin squeeze clamps to tightly secure the stand for the stairs to the bed frame. Now our larger dog (about 40lbs) uses them confidently. Our smaller dog is a skittish soul and now moves up them casually. Both dogs now walk the long way around to use the stairs to get up and almost always to get down. We did very little training, just guided them a few times and gave them some rubbing when they used them on their own. The stairs are plenty sturdy, our good sized three year old grandson uses them sometimes. Second item to make these work well is with dogs, going down the stairs seems to be the harder direction. The stairs are not super deep (7") so in my opinion you have to be sure there is enough floor space at the bottom to give them some security going downward. We have a consistent 16", I wish could give about 6" more. Measuring from the side of your bed, the stairs take 28", add 16" to that for average size dogs but 24" would be ideal. (44-50" total floor space from side of bed) If not enough floor space, the pups may be staring at a wall or furniture which makes them reluctant to use them to get off the bed. I considered getting a second set of stairs to help them get into my truck. Although they did not work for my truck, if you have standard size wheels and suspension with no running boards, these may work well. Measure seat height and look straight down from door frame to the ground to see how much gap there is from top step to seat. Bottom line, I have not found a better solution for us. If you secure the stairs to the frame and can spare some floor space, these really do work great. Hope this helps!

These doggy steps are really convenient and well-made. I like that they’re foldable, so I can easily put them away when not in use, and the plastic material makes them easy to clean. The only downside is that they’re extremely long for the height of my bed. I’ve had another set at the same height, and it didn’t extend as much — probably because that one had smaller humps instead of full steps. My dogs can still use them fine, but the extra length feels unnecessary in my space. Overall, they’re practical, easy to clean, and foldable, so I’m happy with them, just wished they were a bit more compact.

Stairs are great but the carpet strips for the steps don’t stick! They keep coming off which makes it unsafe for my elderly cats. I will have to find some strong double stick tape and spend more money to make this safe for them

I have a bed that sits pretty high off the floor - so I got these steps for my 2 Shih-Tzu puppies so they can get up onto and down off of the bed safely so they don’t damage their joints or hurt themselves. They will both only be 7.5 - 8 lbs full grown - so jumping up onto or down off of a high bed is simply not in the cards for them. These steps work great - they use them every day - but you’ll need space for them to stick out from your bed whether you out it on the side of your bed or at the foot of the bed. The sides are hard plastic - and I’ve stubbed my toes on it twice in the dark. Yes, it hurt bad and I discovered words I didn’t know I knew. That isn’t a slur against the steps - just a reminder that you have to remember where they are at so you walk around them instead of INTO THEM in the dark. They only way to prevent this would be to place the steps on the side of the bed up against the wall where the headboard meets the side. But you’d sacrifice your nightstand and you’d have dogs in your face trying to get off of the bed - but it would save space? These are NOT for kids but they are sturdy enough to hold young, light weight kids until you can correct them and let them know they must not play on the doggie steps - just know they’re gonna try it. The steps are easily assembled and the step pads prevent them from sliding on the stairs. They clean easily - mostly just vacuum them off with sweeper attachment. The sides wash off easily should they get dirty. Great steps for the money. Should last a long time.

The love of my life has grown into his old age and has started to struggle to jump up onto the bed. The vet said he needed stairs now because all it would take is one wrong foot landing and...well, yeah. We got the stairs. haha. I wasn't sure which ones to get because he's large cat size haha. I was afraid these stairs might be to small for him or even too big for the small room, but they don't take up too much space and he does just fine with them. They are also super sturdy and I feel very comfortable my baby is safe when using these. I also thought training him to use the stairs would be super difficult. I mean he's 12 and he's been jumping up for 12 years. But treat motivation definitely works. For those of you who may be struggling, this is how I trained my elder dog to use the stairs and he had a blast learning: The very first time to get him up the stairs I had to set him on the steps and get him to realize that they were steps. Once he realized what they were (5 mins) i lined each step with treats. I did this maybe 3 times and then I started holding one treat at the top. He would try to jump up but i would shift my weight to claim the space and encourage him to come up again hoping he'd try the stairs. after a minute or two if he was still confused I would tap the top of the stairs and he'd bound up them to get his treats and lots of praise. I did the same for down i'd toss a treat on the floor and claimed the space around the stairs so it was his option. After about 2 days Draven had totally got it that if he wanted a treat he had to walk up the stairs which is when I reduced how frequent he got the treats so he didn't grow to expect it and relied more on praise. The other training problem nobody really mentions (and why i'm being so detailed) is I sleep on the side opposite his stairs. So the problem became how do I get him to remember to go back around the bed to get up the stairs on the other side. How I started was (with the stairs at the bottom left of the bed I claimed less and less space at the foot of the bed so that he got used to me pointing to the stairs from a distance while holding a treat or saying "no" when he tried to jump up on the bed or if he did jump up before he could get his treat i had him walk down the stairs and back up them and then rewarded him (so he didn't get discouraged but understood if he wanted the treat he had to use the stairs). Eventually I was able to sit on the right side of the bed and use voice commands and hand gestures for him to remember the stairs. The cutest part was getting him to remember the stairs when he was on the bed and i dropped a treat on the floor and he had to remember to turn around and use the stairs when he was excited af. He'd want to jump and I'd tell him no and he'd stop mid action haha a couple times I had to gently aim him in the direction of the stairs, but eventually he got it (and by eventually I mean a few tries over a couple days). I don't know if this will work for you but if you do try, I hope your dog decides it's as much of a game as Draven did. We both had a lot of fun. It literally took me like a week to get him to understand to use the stairs, and another week for him to remember they were there and use them of his own accord with no incentive. We're on week three and he's fully conditioned to using the stairs (but he still gets treats sometimes for doing it just cuz i love my smart little boy).

This is so perfect for me. It was easy to set up and fits perfectly next to the bed. It is tall enough that my dogs can get right up on the bed, the only one of the stairs that was high enough. The youngest pup who just turned 1 year old had no trouble climbing the stairs. He'd already had some experience with the two wooden steps that were already next to the bed, but not high enough for him to get up there without being lifted. I broke my shoulder 10 months ago and have trouble lifting him without my arm and shoulder getting sore & I was worried I might hurt myself. They are both West Highland Terriers and he figured it out after a few tries, his sister is older (7 year old) and a little bigger. She has had more trouble because she never used the original stairs, but she almost has it down just by watching him. He zooms up the stairs with the greatest of ease and just loves them. The quality is very good, the plastic making it easier to clean and the beige color is a good color if you don't want them to stand out.

Amazon had the best price, combined with prime shipping. Super easy to set up, and the height is perfect for our tall bed for the dogs to get on. All we did was coax them with a treat to come up and then down a few times. And ever since they use it constantly. My older puggle could not even get on the bed at all without me picking her up to put her on. She would jump off though, and thats why we got the stairs i didnt want either dog hurting themselves from jumping from that high. Especially with their age. The fact that it folds up if you have company, or travel even is great. I put the little rubber gripper stickers on the feet, and they do a pretty good job. Our floor is hardwood in the bedroom with no rug. So make sure you put the gripper stickers on if you dont have carpet. The stair tread stickers were easy to put on. And this thing is pretty sturdy considering my 4 year old keeps trying to sit on the steps. UPDATE DEC 2019 These stairs have held up perfectly well, it basically looks brand new. And nothing is wrong with it. My dogs are 9 and 10.5 one is 25 pounds the other is around 17. We put a big 8 x 10 rug under our bed and that has made the stairs safer for the dogs and more sturdy. When it was on the hardwood, even with the gripper stickers, it would move away from the dogs as they would jump from the top step onto the bed. They both love using it, and i would still highly reccomend these stairs. But make sure theres a rug that wont slide, and maybe for bigger dogs i can see these stairs wearing out faster as in some of the pictures. For us it has worked great my son is 7 now and has been climbing on it the last few years with no issues. Update number 3. November 2021, steps still work great, perfect condition, no complaints except the times i stub my toe walking by. Im going to order the shorter/standard model for our living room now since our puggle is 12.5 now and has suspected arthritis, so this will help aleviate any more strain on her. I dont ever fold these stairs up theyve stayed up for almost 5 years now. Great investment and injury prevention, again i will make the suggestion to have a rug underneath, if the stairs slide on hard floors that is dangerous for the animal.
