    • Attractive, roomy, but a bit flimsy
I was expecting it to be a bit flimsy after reading previous reviews. It is. The wood is soft and the screws that hold the hinges are small. I applied adhesive to the joints and used larger screws on the hinges to compensate. It was a cinch to assemble, I was done in less than an hour even with the added steps. As far as cleaning, the top cover or "roof" swings almost vertical and locks into that position so it's very easy to lean over and remove objects from within. But if you want to remove the flooring for cleaning you have to push it up from the bottom, which could be a real challenge if you've set your dog house on the ground, because it doesn't have a whole lot of clearance. I addressed this problem by setting the legs on top of cinder blocks. I expect it will last a bit longer that way too, as the increased air flow will deter rotting due to proximity to the ground. I also applied a heavy coat of water seal to the roof and sides, that should reduce the shedding of roofing particles and keep the wood from absorbing any water. ... show more

This was really easy to assemble. I managed to construct it within 2 hours of receiving it. One of the screw holes was misaligned, however, so the screw wouldn't go into the metal binding post. I was able to drill a new hole without much trouble. It will definitely need to be sealed. It's only stained, and the roofing "sheds" tiny gravel bits easily. It's very nice-looking and was sent out very quickly and arrived on-time. Seller sent extra screws, which is always appreciated. ... show more

Dogs chewed up the floor boards and around it. Doesn't stand up to large dogs who chew.

    • What you would expect.
Floors make it easy to clean. The top is great. I think the flimsy hinges need to be changed out. One bent the first day. But other than that, which is a small complaint, I really like these houses, we have two. I see them lasting a very time.

    • Beware of the size, XL will fit about 75lb. pound dog.
It is a nice dog house and I would have used it if the size was what I thought it was, but not for dogs over 75lb. It will cost you a $100.00 to return it. Buyer beware....

For the money....I was disappointed in the quality of the house. I'll be surprised if it lasts a year. We glued it as we went to give it more strength

The media could not be loaded. If you can’t put this together alone you have issues. It took about 30 min MAX. BUT one piece was missing. The right hinge for the roof. I put pictures. It’s not serious just not perfect. It did come with some bumps and bruises but I am sure that was the delivery company’s fault. It’s a dog house who cares if it’s pretty. ... show more
