  • Carpenters review-be for real
I’m a finish carpenter and subcontractor in California and alway expect various products to never meet my expectations. So just for me to write this review is highly unusual because I don’t typically take time out to write anything about most stuff I purchase on amazon because I’m skeptical of its usefulness however, I did this because of the nature of my appreciation. This super simple design is so beyond easy to assemble and come now, how much quality do we really expect at the price point . I’m super impressed that; 1 I wouldn’t be able to build this quality with the simplicity 2. Nor would it be worth my time 3. It’s impressive because they mass market something which is well built 4. Other folks dogs have damaged the structure so why would we expect that to not happen (Spray it down with sour apple) be for real- the manufactures aren’t responsible for your dogs bad behavior Bad part 1 it’s not as large as I hoped and I got the extra large - 100lb Rotty got to live in it not me !! Good for a few months I’m certain. But like everything in this world, maintenance is a requirement.,,,, I’m very satisfied and impressed ... show more

  • Very well constructed, well insulated, and easy to assemble.
Very well made and sturdy, and extremely easy to assemble. Looks beautiful, and the insulated walls worked great in a Chicago area winter. One caveat... if your dog likes to chew on wood, you may need to add some additional material (aluminum bar stock, L-brackets, etc.) to dissuade chewing around the lower leg area. This doghouse comes with an aluminum channel around the door which is very effective in discouraging chewing on the door opening by my 55 lb. Siberian Husky pup. But she will look for something to chew on... anything... when she gets bored. But remember that chewing issues will apply to any and every doghouse constructed of a chewable material... wood, plastic, etc. You will need to observe and know your dog’s habits, and may need customize your dog’s home accordingly. But overall, I highly recommend this doghouse. ... show more

  • Attractive, roomy, but a bit flimsy
I was expecting it to be a bit flimsy after reading previous reviews. It is. The wood is soft and the screws that hold the hinges are small. I applied adhesive to the joints and used larger screws on the hinges to compensate. It was a cinch to assemble, I was done in less than an hour even with the added steps. As far as cleaning, the top cover or "roof" swings almost vertical and locks into that position so it's very easy to lean over and remove objects from within. But if you want to remove the flooring for cleaning you have to push it up from the bottom, which could be a real challenge if you've set your dog house on the ground, because it doesn't have a whole lot of clearance. I addressed this problem by setting the legs on top of cinder blocks. I expect it will last a bit longer that way too, as the increased air flow will deter rotting due to proximity to the ground. I also applied a heavy coat of water seal to the roof and sides, that should reduce the shedding of roofing particles and keep the wood from absorbing any water. ... show more

  • WORST PURCHASE EXPERIENCE EVER!
I have ordered this product for my rottweiler to have it outside for him whenever it's cold or raining. The main reason for picking this kennel out of many others was the insulation which was clearly drawn with red arrows and it was supposed to be placed inside the floor of the kennel. Once the kennel arrived after opening it; that was the first thing I checked and to my surprise, there was no insulation so I have decided to return the kennel without assembling it. Not only was I upset that the pictures showing the insulation weren't accurate but the return process was even worse. I had to go around places looking for the cheapest way to return it, it was heavy and going very far away from my house so the prices were insane. I ended up paying the same price as I paid to get it here and return it that I paid for the kennel because they did not refund me for any of that. ADDITIONALLY when I messaged them nicely asking to refund me for either the shipment to my house or the return; they have been denying it and pushing me away saying that it was just considered an unwanted item even though I really wanted it in the first place. Once I started messaging them about the pictures that were on the page showing the insulation they have deleted them so I wouldn't have proof. OVERALL TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE! ... show more

  • Amazing house
Fantastic Dog house. Not flimsy or thin wood, and once assembled is very sturdy. Removable flooring is thick and will provide good insulation in the winter and summer. my german shepherd loves this new home. A few comments on negative reviews: No Wooden dog house can stand up to a dog that will chew on it. If you have a young dog or destructive one try coating this in bitter apple or a similar product. Only metal dog houses can stand up to destructive or chewing dogs. Also if your dog is destructive I would recommend removing the flaps on the door as they do beg to be chewed to pieces. Don't say the product is not good because your dog spent all day trying to destroy it and marginally succeeded. know your dog and adjust dog house accordingly. ... show more

  • Cheap wood
Update: If your dog is even a little destructive, don’t waste your money. The wood is so cheaply made, my dog has officially destroyed it. I really think a nice thick plastic one would hold up better to his jaws of death. Though my dog does use this dog house, it breaks so easily. If you need to move it to mow or whatever the case maybe, make sure you have two people. Otherwise, the screws will just pop out of the wood. My dog managed to get one of the slats out of the floor and destroyed it. Maybe if they were screwed in he wouldn’t have been able to do that. ... show more
