  • Great and Durable Bed
The media could not be loaded. I am surprised by the reviews claiming the cover is too thin and won't last. I have had this 4 months and if you watch the video, you will see what it has been subjected to, every day, 2 times or so a day (and the video only caught the last 20% of the fluffing). This is his favorite bed, and he takes his sleeping very seriously. ... show more

  • The bad press is overstated in my opinion...
All the negative press here is partly accurate in my experience but, overall, I am pretty okay with this bed and just bought more for other areas. Agree that it is more like 2 - 3" thick, but don't notice any smell and my 140 pound great dane likes it. I have been teaching him to get on the couch when told he can and now it is a 50/50 chance that he will even want on the couch. About half the time he heads for the new bed on the floor in the living room instead and cannot even be coaxed to come visit. It does not feel like memory foam, but my dog likes it and, if he likes it, I like it, since it was for him. He doesn't act stiff when he sleeps on it and I repeat, he actually will frequently choose this over the couch no less. All in all, I think this is a decent product. Only wish was they made a larger size yet (as you can see from the pic...). UPDATE: I measured and it actually IS four inches... :) ... show more

  • Great bed, great price!
Our 110lb 9 yr old boxer was just diagnosed with severe althritis. After it being recommended we get him an orthopedic bed I started looking around and doing research. I found this one and it was a good price and the size we needed. He loves it. Definitely seems less stiff in the morning. It expanded to about 4in after a few hours when we got it. It doesn't go completely flat when he lays on it, and comes right back when he gets off of it. He does scratch a little and it's held up without any issues. The soft cover is nice and really easy to spot clean. It is removable too. ... show more

  • Love it!!!! And so does my pooch!!
Just got this bed in the mail. Just unwrapped it. Dog resting comfortably. Yes this bed comes shrink wrapped in a roll. Once you cut the seal the bed starts expanding. Laid it on the floor and my dog immediately got on and laid down. He loves it! No chemical odor that I nor he can smell. I do agree with other users who say this was falsely advertised as a memory foam bed. But it's so thick it doesn't need to be. My boy is a greyhound and it's plenty thick for his bony appendages. All in all, LOVE IT! Update: I purchased another one for a different room. Love the bed! I mean, my pup loves the bed! LOL ... show more

  • Should’ve returned this
I started the return process, but tried to give this bed a chance. Pic of full bed is when I got it out of packaging. Half of bed completely flat, other side was almost 2”. No change after 24 hours. Since it was the weekend, decided to give it more time to expand. Noticed some improvement after 36 hours. The fuller side was about 3” but the other half was still obviously much flatter. Started refund process at this point as this was for my 13y/o large dog. There is NO way to return this in original packing- comes vacuum sealed. And it was going to be difficult to get back in the box it came in. Decided to let my dog decide, he liked it. My other dog likes to ‘nest’ and the cover ripped at seam. And what dog can resist foam?!? So the bed is toast. And now I can’t return it. Sigh Oh, and it does stink. Very chemical smell even after a week left to ‘rise’ in the basement. ... show more

  • Excellent dog bed and I have English Mastiffs! NOT TRUE ANY MORE
I have had this bed for 2 years and it's still plump! I have 3 English Mastiffs that are between 120 and 204 pounds and it has stood the test of time. I am surprised that it has lasted this long and it hasn't flattened. The dogs have put a small rip in the cover but I simply ironed a patch onto it and it's working out perfectly. I bought another dog bed that's only a year old and it's flat and has multiple holes in it - because of that I'm going to buy another one of the PETMAKER Memory Foam Dog Bed to replace it. Update 2019 The 2nd one I bought is not as well made as the first. It doesn't have near the plushness in the foam for one. Worse than that, it started ripping at the seem within 3 months of using it. I'm going to have to replace it after 6 months. The previous one is still going strong and is in the same condition as what I said above. I can't recommend what they're selling now. ... show more

  • Two Perspectives: Value and Performance
I wanted to offer two different perspectives for those who are looking for performance and value. First, on the construction of the bed, I noticed that it is essentially two beds sealed together in the middle. How can I tell? One side of the bed is considerably smaller than the other with a distinct difference on a straight line down the middle. I could literally cut the bed in half and have two beds of different densities. It appears there are about an inch difference between the two sides. That's substantial. The softness of the bed is not very good, probably 3/10. Now, with a proper topper, this can be overcome, but it brings up value. This size bed, compared to a softer bed of the same size, is 30-40 bucks versus 80-120 bucks. To me, that's a substantial value saved. For me, I have an additional soft bed that can go on top of this one. But if I didn't, and just had this bed, my dogs would not use it. And that's my test: if the dogs will decide to lay on the bed or the cold floor, which do they pick? They did not pick this bed without a topper. I am keeping the bed, but I had to seriously consider my options. For most, I think they are giving up too much quality and inconsistent manufacturing. For me, I'll make it work considering I'm saving 50-90 bucks and don't have to spend more to add more comfort. ... show more

  • False advertising, bait n switch, or honest mistake??
What I received was NOT orthopedic memory foam nor was it 4" thick. I looked at Petmaker's other products and saw other cheaper beds, much cheaper, that resemble what I received - a layer of polyurethane foam with egg crate foam glued to it. The ad photos show eggcrate, but the description states memory foam and neither layer is made of that material or of that quality. Petmaker is either misrepresenting this particular product or sent me their $15 foam bed instead. It will be returned. ... show more
