i just finished my 480 square foot aviary, which will house my finches as well as 3 different kinds of doves. my intent was to turn these perches upside down, so the doves could make nests inside of them. they were a tad smaller than i expected. i ended up using them to cover the lower nests i made from dollar store baskets. they do have a few cast in surface ridges for the birds, but a bit too slick for gripping on. i just received another set from China, and these had a wooden topper for perching on. i will be taking a small piece of wood and will add it to the ones i have, for better gripping. just add a short piece of wood to the top support, and you have easy gripping and a perfect plastic perch. ... show more

Perches are a bit smaller than what is shown in the photos. Imagine the pigeon double that size and that is what you will get. I was worried the birds wouldn't like the plastic but they were fine with it. The plastic is easy to clean the waste off of. The only unfortunate bit is that an adult bird will probably poop on his downstairs neighbor. Luckily my birds are still young so this is suitable for now. ... show more
