Our collection of liquid fertilizers are trusted by gardeners across the US Grow brighter blooms and more vibrant indoor orchids with our Orchid Gardening Products Coir is an organic material comprised of the tough, fibrous material of coconuts. This material has a plethora of uses and is seen in everything from door rugs to rope. In addition, this medium has made quite an impact in the horticultural world for its wonderful use as a soil medium or amendment. Coconut coir is characterized by its tough texture and high resistance to Breaking down in water, making it an excellent addition to plant soils that will be receiving frequent waterings. This material adds substance and body to planting mixes and ensures that the dirt holds onto moisture but protects your plants from root rot. Garden coir is commonly used in place of Peat Moss for its ability to retain up to 30% more moisture and stay intact organically. For more compact soils, such as those with high amounts of clay, adding coir can improve drainage. Organic Garden Coir is not as easily compacted compared to other popular soil mediums and soil additives. This makes it the perfect choice to add to soils to improve aeration. This added volume and body makes it easier for the roots of your plant to soak up water and nutrients, and decreases the chances of dry pockets forming in the soil. Better circulation means better nutrient distribution. Naturally has a more basic pH compared to peat moss, which is more acidic. Acidic isn't bad, however some plants do not grow well in acidic soil. So for growers looking to add texture, aeration, and volume to their potting mix without upping the acidity Organic Coconut Garden Coir is the best option. Coconut coir is often in 5.5-6 pH range where as Peat Moss is estimated to be more acidic at 3.5-5 pH. Perfect for plants that are in long time homes, and longer lasting than other soil amendments such as peat moss. In addition to to being slower to decompose, coco coir is tough and fibrous which makes it harder to compact overtime. Like all soil additives, it will compact after months of roots sucking up nutrients and plant growth, however at a slower rate when compared to similar amendments. Coconut Garden Coir makes for the perfect seed starting medium for its resistance to Breaking down and its low acidity. Most plants grown from seeds, such as vegetable plants, prefer to grow in more neutral to basic pH soils. Coconut husk is not easily compacted and retains the perfect amount of nutrients and moisture for a new seedling to sprout and thrive. Organic Coconut Coir creates the perfect environment for new seeds and, in addition to all the positive attributes, is more sustainable than Peat Moss!
