This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I think every woman will appreciate the difficult situation the heroine finds herself in, but it's not just for the 'sandwich' generation. I think most of us think of the fork in the road and how our lives could have been different, but this book presents a novel twist to the subject. I have spent a great deal of time thinking of my own fork, and I want to thank Ms. Prowse for writing this thought provoking book.     • What A Woman Wants
While on vacation, I read a lot of books, but this is one that I could relate to. It wasn't the normal murder mysteries I had been reading. It was a down to earth book about a woman that wonders about her life and where it had taken her. I think as most women read this book they will be able to relate to it. We all wonder if our life would have been different. This only applies to those women that are older and have been married much longer than 10 years. Those young in love think you have it all, but it changes. I like the fact that she sees things for what they are. It was very light and good. It has become harder to find decent meaningful reading material these days, at least in the fictional category. Along comes 'Perfect Daughter,' and I am so glad it did.     • A story about the choices that create or destroy our dreams.

I found the characters in this story of an overworked mother, wife and daughter, Jacks, very believable. I have to admit, I personally liked her husband, Pete, the best. Jacks was too much like me, a people-pleaser and fixer of everything that goes wrong. At the end of the day, it leaves precious little to sustain yourself. So she hitches her dreams and aspirations to her daughter instead, poor girl. I found some of the scenes tedious in detail but I realize that people who are unfamiliar with the reality of Alzheimer's patients probably don't truly understand the tremendous amount of care and undoing of the family that it presents, so I get the need to paint the picture in detail. I also found the plot a bit too predictable. However, it has it's moments of realization that are worth the drudgery and the lessons gleaned are ultimately worth the effort. I recommend this book to overburdened women who think giving up their own dreams is a valid sacrifice to maintain their family. It eventually catches up with you and forces you to reassess your own worth and what you truly treasure. ... show more

A beautiful story that is funny, entertaining and emotional. Based on Jacks, a young mother whose life isn't all she dreamed it to be. Married young and now juggling her family whilst caring for her own mother who has Alzheimer's. Events that happen lead her to discover who and what is really important to her. The story at times had me laughing and crying. But also made me see how stressful it can be and the love and commitment that it takes when looking after someone with Alzheimer's.
