Kayak was fairly simple to put together. I did watch the videos provided to install the rudder etc. You do need to get your own allen wrench for the pedals the one that came with it didn't fit. And you have to adjust that and tighten it from time to time. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase! I was out fishing in it over the weekend and it was just fabulous! The pedal drive is flawless when pedaling, you do need to get familiar with how to raise it when you need to because you can't raise it as quickly as you'd like because the propeller has to be facing upwards straight up so that might take a little time but you just pull the pin push it Forward pull it up and you're good. When you get to about a foot of water you may want to elevate the pedal drive. Now they do advertise that you can stand on this kayak, however, I personally would not be able to because of balance issues and you would have to be very careful to stand up so just a word of caution. Otherwise the quality of this product is excellent. Works perfectly. Just make sure you check your local register your local laws etc you may need a launching permit at certain state parks I know in Pennsylvania we do so make sure you get yourself a launching permit or a mooring permit. I didn't know this stuff and I got cited for it. Oh and one other flaw I found was in the rudder assembly those round pins there's three of them they seem to go missing so I have a bent hook in one of them and keep an eye on them very closely because without those round pins you cannot operate the rudder.

I did a lot of research on various Kayak models before I decided to invest the substantial amount of money in picking up this Crank 10. I have been eyeballing the Perception Pilot 12 for quite some time now, but he 12 length eliminated all of my options for storing such a huge boat. The Crank 10 is very similar in design, and having already had a little bit of hands-on-experience with the larger model I knew that this was the Kayak I wanted for the 2021. I ordered this Kayak way back in February and scheduled the shipping for a particular date in mid March. It just so happened that my vacation time from my job was at a use-it-or-lose-it point, so knowing I had a top-notch kayak on order I decided to plan a week down south visiting family and hopefully getting out to do a bit of kayaking and fishing off of my new boat. The delivery company (XPO Logistics) provided me with a 12 hour window of time for when my delivery would arrive, and since it required my signature I took the day off of work and planned my vacation days around that schedule. Unfortunately, the kayak I ordered was somehow lost in the mail... how a 100lb, 10' long boat gets lost in shipping is a complete mystery, but whatever I suppose. This shipping issue caused me to have to delay my trip down south by 2 days, eating up some of that precious vacation time I had saved up. Eventually (after about a month) I was able to get a full refund on the lost kayak, but because I really wanted this particular model of boat and because I couldn't find it available elsewhere I figured I'd give it another try and I placed a second order. I was pretty disheartened to see that the same Shipper was being used again, but this time on the scheduled date my boat was indeed delivered to my doorstep. The packaging material was badly damaged, and the boat itself had received a few rather deep gouges in the hull. Worse still, when I went to assemble the kayak I found that there was a part missing! The part in question was the nylock nut used to secure the propeller unit onto the craft. Thankfully the bolt in question is a standard 8M bolt, so finding a replacement was not difficult. Still, the entire process of ordering this boat and actually getting it to my home was pretty much a nightmare. Now that it has arrived, however, I couldn't be happier with my choice of Kayak. The pedal drive system is really a nice, new way to move about on the water. You need a few feet of water depth to use it, but it is wonderful when you can drop your propeller into the water and move about without oars for a bit. You get a really good workout using them too... like a good bike ride through rough terrain. Using the oars I do find that I tend to move a bit slower than I did in my old kayak, but this one is a fair bit heavier and is a sit-on-top versus my other one being a sit-in style. It has ample room for me and a good number of fishing supplies, and I think that it would be great for river camping adventures. All in all, this kayak is great, but if you can find one at a local store for purchase, I think you'd be a bit better off.

Recently after a good bit of research I decided to purchase a Perception Crank 10. After watching quite a few of the prototype videos I was convinced this was the Kayak I wanted. New line in 2020 I was convinced this would be a good investment. With all that is going on I though just order it online and have it shipped here. After a couple of weeks my new toy had finally arrived I couldn't wait to assemble a couple of attachments and get out on the water. I pushed off and attempted to lower the propeller assembly but the locking pin would not go into the reciever bracket making the drive function useless. I took it back out of the water put it up on some saw horses and started to investigate what was going on thinking how could I possibly have done something wrong in such an easy assembly process. After thoroughly studying things it became clear to me there was a defect in manufacturing and the surface the mounting plate attached to was not even in height left to right. I called Perception to explain my problem and see what could be done to remedy the situation. After being on hold for more than 30 minutes finally I was able to speak with someone and was told don't make any alterations just take detailed pictures and email warranty department with all your documentation of purchase. After doing this it said please allow 7 days for reply (bummer). After 9 day's without any response I sent another email stating this was a very expensive lawn ornament could someone please let me know something. Nothing for 2 more days so I follow up with another email saying do I have to file a dispute to get any customer service. Within an hour Pendleton with Perception replied saying I've sent your photos to engineering but haven't gotten a reply. I'm just going to ship you a assembly bracket and pin someone must have left off a washer. I thanked him for finally responding and said I have thoroughly looked this over I'm pretty mechanically inclined and that's not going to solve the problem there are no missing pieces and the pin is manufactured and working correctly. I said look I am sure if I go have a 1/4" aluminium shim fabricated that will go under the left side receiver bracket the issue should be resolved but I want written authorization that will not void any type of warranty as I will not make any penetrations. I would also like some sort of compensation for my time and costs in going to have a shim fabricated to fix this defect on a newly released product. Just the savings of the parts you want to ship that will not fix the situation can't be cheap. I said I'll tell you what how about instead of trying to figure out how to give me any type of refund you just sell me another kayak with a little discount I'm wanting 2 and this simple solution would benefit both of us. This was on a Friday afternoon so I sent a follow up message saying please get back to me it's going to be a beautiful weekend and I'd really love to play with my new toy. Well Monday at 10 minutes before 5pm Pendleton responded with I can unequivocally tell you that you can make the alteration and it will not affect your warranty but all of our sales are third party and unfortunately that would be "tricky". I responded with if that's too much to ask after almost a month I'll just contact Amazon return it and your R&D department can deal with it. The next day after no response I scheduled a return and haven't heard anything since. I fully understand that we are in difficult times. Short staffing and unavailable departments can be an issue but don't ignore me and act like everyone in business doesn't have a smartphone in their pocket with email. It's a real shame this is the way this company chooses to conduct business. After the first phone call this issue should have been a priority unless they're having so many problems they can't keep up with them even during a time I would guess sales are at record lows.
