These are the cheaper feeling quality but for everyday use work fine and are cheaper than Staples where we used to buy office supplies until their order and delivery process became a nightmare.     • Good Quality Folders – Short Folders & Manufacturer Packaging Issues
Pattern Name: File Folders
This product gets 3 stars for the following reasons. Pros 1. The Pendaflex manila folders received are of the paper quality & weight expected each with 3 expansion folds. 2. Good value for money for folders of this quality. Cons 1. Total folders in box were 242 versus 250. Visually there did not look to be 250 folders in the Pendaflex brown cardboard box, so I counted them twice. There were almost even numbers of each of the 3 tab folder types. 2. The outer cardboard box was damaged, damaging 6 folders significantly and another 12 or so slightly, but usable after tab straightening. The clean undamaged folder count was 224, usable 236. The original Amazon outer box which contained this box and another office supplies box was undamaged. The damage to the Pendaflex box may have occurred at the manufacturing plant. 3. The folders were packed in the Pendaflex box in an unusual manner, with unequal numbers of folders alternating in the box, for half the box’s depth. This indicates the box was likely ‘re-packed’ in the factory after a packing machine malfunction. This could mean the folders were hand counted which could explain the missing folders if the person re-packing miscounted. There was no indication that the Pendaflex box had been opened / resealed since leaving the manufacturer. 4. The die cutting machine did not cleanly cut waste pieces from some folders requiring them to be removed by hand. It is estimated that maybe 20 folders (~8%) had this issue. Summary These folders will meet my needs and were a good value for money. I expect that these issues came from a manufacturing fault. However; if this is indicative of general packaging quality, this is a larger issue. In a larger office setting / business, the issues discussed above may be more of a distraction diverting employees from other important / pressing tasks. I would recommend Pendaflex manila folders to others. If I re-ordered and had the same experience, then I would no longer recommend the 250 count box. ... show more
