I'm not going to give this cabinet a negative review because it is exactly what I thought it would be based on price and other reviews -- a lightweight filing cabinet made of paper thin metal and designed for home use. If you want an office grade cabinet be prepared to pay double the price. It arrived with significant dents on one side where something had fallen agains the box during shipping. Fortunately, that side is against the wall in my location and the outward facing side is fine. The drawers open/close smoothly and the lock works. I see no reason that it won't provide decades of service as long as I don't overload the drawers with weight. ... show more

    • Disappointing arrival condition

All of the metal file dividers were placed in to the bottom drawer which would not allow the bottom door to open. So I had to jiggle the third drawer until it came off it’s track and the entire rail came disconnected from the back, which allowed me to remove the items from the bottom drawer. Then both bottom drawers had to be removed and the unit had to be placed on its side to make sure the track rails could be connected to the back of the unit, which could only be done from the bottom of the unit. Then the drawers could be reinstalled. Altogether this was ridiculous and could have been avoided if the file dividers were not all jammed into the bottom drawer. There were no instructions, and minor dents in this brand new unit. Fortunately I was able to fix it which is a good thing since I cut open the box it arrived in. I was very disappointed in the arrival condition, especially for a product that was almost $300. I can’t imagine just anyone having to go through all of this for a filing cabinet that should have arrived in perfect working condition. ... show more

I would say that this is an average file cabinet. It is not a cheap quality, but it is also not a high quality. The metal used is not a high gage metal, so it will dent easily. In fact, it arrived with a dent on one side. I did not return it because the dent is next to a wall and will not be noticeable.
