  • Love the fan. Remote control, not so much
Size: 40" Normal Style: PELONIS 40-inch Tower Fans
The media could not be loaded. PROS : - The look of the fan is fairly neutral & that's nice. It doesn't clash with or stand out too much in any kind of decor (other than maybe really dark decor). -I waited over a week to review it & it's working great as far as cooling. If I place this anywhere near a window, it really pulls in the cooler air. I'm not sure if fans work to actually "cool" the air or not - I hear that they basically just circulate air and cool the moisture on your skin - but with this with working in a closed room with no open windows, it really cools down my overly-warm bedroom at night. - It's very quiet (again, it's brand new) and, on the lowest setting, I can barely tell it's running. It's a bit louder on that intermittent setting but is nice because it sounds like a wind outside is blowing. In my video, I quickly cycled through the speeds and you can barely tell the fan is running on any of them. It is a bit louder at night when it's really quiet around the house. - The various modes are nice. I especially like that intermittent mode that goes up and down. - Having a timer is better than I expected. I like to go to sleep with the fan on but it's nice to be able to time it to shut down after x amount of time. I will probably run the fan all night this summer but for now, when it sometimes gets a bit cooler in the night, it's nice to have the option. I imagine this might also be useful for someone with kids (?) - The back vents are somewhat more spaced open than my old fan. I am hoping that this will make regular dusting easier. I hate when fans get to the point of needing to be taken apart for cleaning. CONS: - Like all tower fans, this will eventually need to be taken apart to be cleaned. It's probably going to be a real pain, as these fans tend to be. If the product photos are correct, it seems the cover might be a little easier to remove for cleaning the fan. Fingers crossed. - The base is very flimsy, IMO. That's not a huge deal because I don't have kids or pets who might break this by stepping on it or knocking over than fan. I only noticed the weak-seeming base when I was attaching it the first time. - I like the vertical slats for airflow better than the horizontal ones on my old fan. It seems to help the air move better around the room. Also, I am hoping that this will make it easier to clean with a duster in between deep cleanings. You can tell I worry about cleaning a lot. Fans are awful! - The airflow is powerful enough that it blew papers off my desk with the fan sitting about 6 feet away. I can't remember which mode/speed I had it set to. - The remote is odd to me. For one thing, it's rather large. For another thing, I have to click it twice sometimes to activate a function. I'm not sure if that is meant to be or not. I do know it annoys me. - The oscillation is tricky with the remote. I was able to oscillate this away from me & then stop it in that position with the remote. When I was ready for the remote to turn the oscillation back on, it wouldn't work until I got up and moved. The sensor wouldn't work even though it had done so to turn the oscillation on. Weird. My other fan worked better with the remote for some reason. It might just be the placement of the sensor or something. - The buttons on the fan are on top and since the top is not slanted steep enough, I can't tell what's happening when I use the remote. This is rather minor and I will probably get used to it. After a week, I can already remember the button placement on the remote by feel. Overall, this is a nice fan. They ALL are until it comes time to clean them. I use this primarily in my bedroom which tends to stay too warm. My bed sits on a base that makes it rather high up. I put this fan on a small stool to raise it a bit and I chose the 40-inch model. For a "normal" bed setup, it should be tall enough to use without having to raise it anymore. I'm not sure how much difference the 2 additional inches would make for placement. The price step was a bit much for just 2 more inches in height, IMO. Tip: Don't forget to remove the plastic shield from over the remote's buttons. 3 days in and I thought the remote had warped. Yeah. ... show more

  • Strong airflow, mild noise, remote holder is odd
Size: 40" Normal Style: PELONIS 40-inch Tower Fans
The media could not be loaded. This tower fan has a powerful airflow that definitely cools down the master bedroom I put it in by several degrees. It's in a short-term rental, so the noise factor was a major concern. Any strong fan is going to give off some kind of "white noise," but the undertones can make or break a guest's ability to sleep. This one does have a very soft, medium-high pitch undertone that I can hear if I listen with focus, but I find it fairly easy to ignore when I'm in the room for more than a few minutes and not focusing on it. I've asked 3 others to listen and give their opinion on whether this was a good purchase, keeping guests in mind. Two said they can also barely hear a mid-high tone as the fan oscillates, but I shouldn't be concerned unless it gets louder. One said she couldn't hear the tone, thought we were imagining it, and believed this was an excellent purchase. So, I'm keeping it for now, and glad I bought the extra Amazon warranty because if it gets noisier over time, that won't be acceptable. So far, it seems like this was a very good choice. I didn't care about the fan having a remote control, thinking that could be just one more thing for guests to misplace, but because it had a "holder" for the remote on the fan, I was ok with it. The holder turns out to be a slot in the back, toward the top of the fan. It's only wide enough to slide the remote in one way, and 50% of the remote remains sticking out of the slot. It doesn't seem to fall as the fan turns, but it's a weird design aspect that could have been better imagined. I really liked the idea of the "sleep mode" that this unit has, because rested guests are happy guests. I saw a couple of other reviews that said it was a non-feature, but I hoped they might be exceptions. Nope, they were correct, it's nothing. I can't tell any difference at all between the highest setting and the sleep mode, so if that's a factor in your decision, BELIEVE those reviewers: "sleep mode" doesn't mean anything on this fan. It's no quieter or louder than the highest setting. The highest setting is still quieter than other fans I've used, though. The footprint of the fan is small, but the fan is still plenty stable. This was important to me, because I needed something that wouldn't get bumped into or tipped over. Overall, this seems like a very good, powerful fan and it's doing the job I bought it for well. ... show more

  • Could be better
Size: 42" Aromatherapy Diffuser Style: PELONIS 42-inch Tower Fans
Not much wind power on this one. If you are using it for a big room like a living room, expect less and don't expect great air flow unless you are very close to the fan itself. I've already had to clean it a few times to keep the circulation going. I expected a little better. Putting it on something elevated seems to help especially if you want to feel the fan towards the upper body. If you have a high bed and use it for the bedroom, Use a stool for it to stand on.. ... show more

  • A Survivor
Size: 40" Normal Style: PELONIS 40-inch Tower Fans
Ok finally getting around to writing this review but HOLY CRAP. This fan is great. There's nothing all that special about the settings, the power levels, it's pretty standard tbh. Although I do like the "night time" option, which makes the fan feel more like a varied breeze vs a steady blow. But the thing that is AMAZING about this fan, is it has survived through TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS on my backporch under a very flimy pop up with screen walls that leaks. I'm talking massive rainstorms, wind, hail even. We pull it in for the winter of course, but our whole house has ADHD, so we usually don't remember to grab it if it's raining outside. There have been multiple times I've been like "Ooooh... bet it won't work tomorrow... oh well." But it always works! So.... we stopped dragging it inside a while ago... and it's been fine! Worked all of last summer perfectly, and has been wonderful this year too. I bought it specifically because I'm pretty sure the description said waterproof? Or at least resistant, but when we got the box it didn't say anything about that at all. But I'm here to tell you it's stood up to everything Spring and Summer has thrown at it here on the East Coast, and it's been good at keeping us comfortable when spending time outside. ... show more
