    • Hinge broke very quickly.
Update from 5-star review — the hinge on this broke after my first trip out. Boo! Not durable at all, I’m so sad. Really liked it but the hinge is a dealbreaker. Naturally I’ve been out to sea since the return period was coming to a close. I work on a boat, so everything needs to be waterproof and salt proof or it degrades. I'm pleased with this case so far, barring one thing. The Pros: Charges wirelessly through the case, works great. It gets a little hot but not too bad. Works with the older model of AirPod Pros that I had and also with the newer USB-C version. Seems very durable. I can hear the charging notification through the case. The Con: It's a pain to take this out in order to push the button on the back to pair it. I'm afraid that the adhesive on the case isn't going to last very long if I have to take it out every now and then to pair. I can probably just put some double-stick tape or something in it but it's a little awkward. I don't think I'd recommend this case if you frequently need to pair your AirPods to new devices (I do) because it hard to remove and I'm also not sure of what it will do to the adhesive. I'll update after I've done it a dozen times or so, if I remember. ... show more

Love it - Just what I was looking for a hard sturdy protective case for my AirPods. Well worth the money!! I purchased other cases that claim to be protective for the same price that turned out to the cheap soft plastic type that I immediately returned.

    • The rubber gasket tore off within two days of use.
This is a very average case. It works. Not good, not bad...just works. I can tell that the hinges will be a problem just by looking at them. It fits the AirPods Pro 2 case and has a light adhesive to keep the top of the Pelican case with the top of the AirPods Pro 2 case. Maybe a padded adhesive so it presses down instead of sticking to...the current adhesion is already lacking. The latch keeps it closed. No more AirPods case opening when I'm moving around. However...the watertight...silicone/rubber gasket/plug at the bottom of the case...tore off within 2 charging sessions. I just glued it back on and it's fine. I've had success with MagSafe charging on the Apple MagSafe iPhone charger, but not the Apple Watch one. This is a good case to have while you're shopping for a better one. I like CaseMate and I like Pelican, they are both my go-tos for casing my digital devices, but for some reason...their combined work in this product lessened my confidence in both companies. ***it's only been about a month since I got this product*** The hinge has broken off. The case doesn't close tight anymore. It was a three-star, but now that it doesn't even close tight and doesn't open easily anymore, it's a one-star. Pelican...do better... ... show more

This is the 2nd case I've bought and it suffered the same failures as the first. The rubber stopper at the bottom, which keeps water from entering the product, has a tendency to tear from the case which compromises the water resistance of the case. Then as seen in my second picture, the lip that the top latches to, which keeps the lid from flapping open while walking or when not in use, broke off while opening resulting in some hook and loop being used to keep it closed. Overall I love the tough design of the shell, but those 2 issues keep me from rating it higher, seeing how those issues compromise the safety of your airpods. Closer to a 3.5 but I cant give it a 4 (UPDATE) Lowering my score to a 2 star since recently one of the hinges broke and leaves the lid of the case hanging by 1 plastic hinge and has left me to lose all confidence in this case to be used in any protective capacity, I normally love Pelican products like my Gun cases but this airpod case has alot to live up to ... show more

Works great for me keeping out dust, grinding sparks,debris, and etc. the last 2-3 I’ve had it seems to me the quality of material has decreased significantly. The first one i had lasted almost a year before it finally broke as i was crawling out of a small boiler door. Now if i so much as drop it my lunch box wrong the hinges break. I was really excited to receive this product, especially because it’s made by Pelican, a brand I’ve always associated with high-quality and durable items. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing. The hinge broke within a month of what I would consider normal, if not light, use. When the product first arrived, I immediately noticed that the hinge didn’t seem as sturdy as I had expected. I even had some concerns about its durability based on the design, but I decided to give it a chance, trusting the Pelican name. Sadly, my initial doubts proved to be valid. After just a few weeks, the hinge failed completely, leaving the case unusable and unable to provide the protection I needed. I purchased this specifically for its reputation for reliability, but it clearly did not live up to that expectation. I’m extremely disappointed, as I thought I was making a long-term investment with this purchase. I would strongly recommend that Pelican revisit the design of this product to ensure that it aligns with the quality their customers expect. At first I thought that this product looked solid. It felt like a good choice for protection for my AirPods Pro. I gave up wireless charging for better protection. This case is just not worth it. The latch on the case side broke on it and I didn’t even realize that had happened until recently. Not really sure how it happened. I kept it clipped to a bag and I supposed it’s possible that this device took the brunt of a bag sitting on top of it. Either way the case I suppose did protect my AirPods from being destroyed, so I’m not giving this thing a complete 1 star rating. I’m disappointed though that the plastic is that easy to break. Another area of caution to consider is that the adhesive that adheres to the top of the AirPods that makes the AirPod case open with this case opens makes it neigh impossible (I haven’t made great pains to remedy) to remove the AirPods case from this case which puts me back in the situation of how do I replace a broken case without being able to remove the product it protects in the first place. ... show more
