  • YES, two slim cans can be stacked and the top still closes!!!
Color: White Style: 45 Quart
Online reviews seem to never include things people really care about. I don't want to know how much ice is left at day eight. I don't want to know if a bear can open it or not; are you going to interrupt a bear trying to open your cooler because you know it isn't bear safe? What I do care about in my cooler is will the ice last a few days, is it rugged, what are the real internal dimensions (not Yeti's made up 46 cans of beer and some random amount of ice BS), what's the warranty, and for the love of God, please tell me if regular cans, as well as today's common slim cans, can stack and the top still close. Starting with the most important, and why I posted a photo of it; YES, the top will close even with the thing filled with slim line cans stacked two-high around the edge. It may look like it's going to be close, given the cans pop up above the ridge of the base of the cooler, however, the interior of the top is recessed and this puppy will close just fine. No more fussing around with getting ice around the edges, or trying to lean cans inward just to get the stupid top to close; there are no problems here. So, stack it with your White Claws, your Michelob Ultras, etc., you're good to go. Lifetime warranty; nuff said. Pelican has been around a LONG time, I use them for gun cases, they have never let me down on warranty claims. I don't do extended treks into the wilderness with this, so I can't comment on ice longevity beyond the five day mark, but I can tell you it works fine for four or five days no issues at all. ... show more

  • Built during a "Safety Brake"???
Color: White Style: 45 Quart
Must have been assembled/inspected during a "Safety Brake"...Drain plug missing and no hole even put in for the set screw-meaning it never had one.Warranty wants you to jump through the hoops and let them into your life with all the personal info.Warrnty phone line has only a recording and never has returned any of my calls... Pelican coolers and cases are tough s they come-have been using the cases commercially for years and no issues.Seems like going downhill... ... show more

  • Poor Quality Control - Gasket Doesn't Seal and Insulation Void
Color: White Style: 45 Quart
I purchased this from another authorized vendor and have contacted them about the following concerns. They have forwarded my concerns to Pelican and I am awaiting a response. Issue 1: Gasket does not seal. After reading about the drain plug issue that have plagued some purchasers I decided to do an inspection of the cooler. When looking at it from the side I thought I could see into the cooler. I decided to place a light into the cooler and was disappointed to see light bleeding out of the sides. The owner's manual describes a "...thermal-protective layer that's sealed tight with a freezer-grade 360 degree rubber gasket." This does not seem to be the case with my cooler. Issue 2: Insulation missing on lid. When placing the light into the cooler it became very apparent that the "...two-inch thick, continuous layer of polyurethane insulation." did not make its way throughout my lid. Issue 3: Product description says 10 days ice retention while cooler says 7 The product description advertises up to 10 days of ice retention but the cooler has a big sticker on the side that states 7 days, and none of the other documentation that came with the cooler mentions 10 days (unless I am missing something). I had heard good things about Pelican from folks in media and read so many good reviews that this has left me pretty disappointed. Even looking at the lid without light you can tell there is something off with the section that is missing insulation. I would expect a company with Pelican's reputation to have better quality control standards, especially when a customer has to wait several weeks for product. ... show more

405$ for a defective cooler? See pictures my words would not do justice, got it from Amazon ,took it on vacation to Canada, next day got the goodies out to find out they smelled chemical ,upon unpacking we smelled but expected to go away as usual plastic new things, unfortunately it didn't washed it and left with the solution for allmost a full day and we found out it leack too thats when i start to check it closely, lid has a bulge ,gasket little short ,the drain plug is black but cooler is gray so were they connect it leacks ,by the way because of gray color there is no way to check it for insulation smart ass move pelican, now i call amazon with Prime member and under 30 days should be a brease.unfortunatly no return can be maid from Canada and we ask for extension for return until we get back in USA,Amazon says yes no problem, now we got home 22 days later to find out it would be 50$ restocking fee! not good,no exchange -return only, called pelican to find out they can send me a new drain plug and nothing else can be done and that is my experience of buying a expensive cooler. ... show more

  • Well built, minor issues.
Color: Tan Style: 45 Quart
Upon opening my package, i already seen a few minor physical discrepancies. There were a few scratches everywhere. On the latch there was an unfilled hole and a half filled hole. There also was a grainy, saw dust type material left all over the cooler. All in all, it seems like a really well built cooler. Although i am not very satisfied with the discrepancies came with, it seems sturdy and well put together. ... show more

  • Survival Cooler
Color: Tan Style: 45 Quart
I wanted a cooler that would have maximum ice retention, and also be indestructible. I chose the Pelican 45 over the Yeti because of the superior latches, and it seemed equal to the Yeti in ice retention at a much cheaper price. Well, I am very pleased to say this Pelican cooler is an awesome addition to my man cave. And if I decide to go fishing out in the wilderness for a week I can feel confident this cooler will have ice in it for the whole week. It is best to prep the cooler by putting ice in it the night before you leave on a trip. Then in the morning, toss out the ice and fill it with new ice and you will get at least five days of ice retention. Probably more. if you lose power in your house you can transfer your meats and eggs from the fridge to the cooler. I love this cooler! ... show more
