    • Even on smaller beam v-hull recreational models, this fits quite well and can take a beating
Due to medical stuff I've had to hang things up early this season. I recently sold my former kayak, and I now have a smaller boat (went from a pelican maverick 120x to a much smaller thunder 100xp), and with the smaller boat came a substantially smaller cockpit etc; meaning none of my former gear really fit. I want to keep my boat in good shape while also not investing in truly fitted-to-the-boat gear as I'm still not sure if this is the right boat for me after multiple surgeries, so I wanted to get something more universal, and this did not disappoint. First off, to be honest? I'm an experienced kayaker and did a lot of touring prior to my illness and injuries becoming a thing, and I have always loved my pelican boats more than any other brand of kayak I've owned over the years. They might not have all the bells and whistles of some of the fancier higher end brands, but they have quality where it counts, perform nearly every bit as well as (and sometimes better than!) those higher priced boats, and as a bonus they can take quite a beating and you'd be none the wiser to it out on the water; unlike some "higher end" brands where the boat would become a lawn ornament if it had gone through half as much distress. So knowing that I'm a bit of a Pelican fanatic, I immediately began looking for a universal cover from them. And to my delight? Pelican's accessories are the same way: not the fanciest gear out there, but definitely have the quality you need where it matters most. This cover is solidly stitched and made of high grade components, and I love the strapping style; I just wish the fore and aft birthing straps could pull down a little tighter, as they are a tad loose on their shorter beam recreational kayaks. It's still pretty tightly down on my thunder 100xp, but I think that's because I took the birthing straps not just around the hull but around my kayak stand as well, otherwise I would have had to make some modifications, which I hate doing, even if it's easy. I could see this easily working on basically any recreational sit-in regardless of brand, as the birthing straps are extremely long. And even on the smaller boats, I think this cover has useful applications. Also, I have to store my boat outside at the back of my driveway, in the relative lack of shelter from anything other than the sun. We have just had a monster chain of heavy thunderstorms rip through, bad enough to dismantle several large trees on my block, plus hail, etc. Went to check my boat for damage after the storms finally blew through. The cover didn't budge. The cover didn't leak, cockpit is 100% dry. And for those of you wondering how my boat held up to straight up small hail pinging on it for days on end? My boat didn't get so much as a ding from it. Bravo, Pelican. You're arguably one of the most underrated kayak and kayak accessory brands in the market today. ... show more

I had concerns about my Kayaks in the garage when I noticed my cat sleeping inside one. I ordered this cover and it took a few minutes to figure out how to get it on properly and snug but now that all the lines are set, it takes 30seconds to take it off and about 2min to put it back on. The strap loop broke while snugging down over the kayak, this cover was right out of the box. It was a replacement for another cover which broke in the same way. Very poor quality strap loop stitching.
