After reviewing literally ALL Amazon options, I landed on this carrier/pack for my sweet girl. She’s on the smaller side (Scottish fold) so she’s comfortably cozy in it. I wanted something with good visibility for her when she’s traveling in the car with me and this fits the bill. I can even buckle her in with the seatbelt which is an added plus. The extra little features like zipper locks are a huge bonus and selling point for me. Very well constructed. It’s a great product!

The shoulder straps are padded. There is a chest strap also to help balance the backpack when your pet moves around. Then there is a waist strap also. All straps are adjustable and comfortable. The chest strap is ok but if you have asthma I wouldn't recommend you using it. The backpack itself has 4 zippers. 1 on each side then there is lower zipper and a top zipper (this is where you see our boy Teddy in the pic). This allows your pet to look around when sitting. If the top zipper is closed it is screened but not solid. There is also a lead inside of the backpack to anchor your pet in the backpack. You can also lock the zippers so there is no concern about your pet sliding out. This is a really well made, well designed pet backpack. Our dog Teddy is about 27pds and has plenty of room in the backpack to either sit up or lay down. Teddy is a beagle, Shitsu, dashound mix and is 11yrs old. While he is losing his sight and smell he is still very active. He doesn't do well with long walks anymore but we try to keep him engaged in life and getting around. Our theory is that he likes the backpack because it allows him to be taller than every other dog in the area 😂. This is an exceptional pet backpack and well worth getting.

Let me just start by saying, I have some big cats. My largest is 21 lbs and I was looking for a backpack carrier that could hold them for a while until I decided on this one. It comes with a very sturdy pad for the bottom which like very much. The bag is roomy enough for my cats to sit up in and look out the mesh windows. They could lay down too but only if they curled up in a ball. That’s not really a concern for me at all because I didn’t buy this for traveling long distances, just for going to the vet. The multiple mesh windows on it make my cats much less fearful than a traditional carrier and even my most fearful cat seemed completely calm while I carried him around in it when it first arrived. It really is almost perfect, however, one issue kept me from giving this a 5 star rating. The backpack feels like is has a square metal frame around the bottom to keep it from collapsing. After only maybe 10 minutes of trying it out the metal bar was starting to really hurt my lower back. If they had added some additional padding to where the bar hits your back it would make a world of difference. It’s not a dealbreaker for me and I will probably just add something to cushion the bar myself, but if you’re planning on wearing this for a long period of time without adding a cushion, your back is going to be hurting. If they could add some additional padding to where the bar hits your lower back it really would be perfect in my opinion.

I started using this to hike with my 15lb cat, and I am happy to say it was a great purchase! I am 5'1 and found this to be quite comfortable on my back. I purchased the 15.7" x19.2" carrier which allowed enough room for my cat to sit up and lie down. The only negative was that my cat got himself twisted on the leash that clips onto the cat's harness inside the backpack to prevent the cat from jumping out. So just be sure to check on your cat now and then to ensure they aren't caught in it if they move around a lot.

Lots of clever details. Folds flat. Very sturdy. Screened openings on 3 sides provides pet panoramic views from inside the backpack. I wrongly guessed size XL was necessary for Maine Coon; it was more space for pet and plane travel than needed. I returned it and ordered a size L in the same item. Note: the frame is heavy-duty stiff, which is a plus for pet comfort, but the XL item won't conflate to smaller dimensions for storage under plane seat. Will fi in overhead plane compartment, though, depending on pet's tolerance for enclosed spaces (ours isn't having it). Highly recommended.

Be forewarned - Southwest airlines denied boarding for our dog. They required that he be able to stand and turn around, which he could when the backpack was upright, but they required he be able to do that when the backpack was on its side, which wasn't possible for our 22 lb dog. This is not a knock against the backpack, it is well made and worked fine for the limited amount of time that I did carry our dog in it. I recommend the backpack, just not for airline travel on Southwest Airlines.
