This is a review of the 0-12 inch dial caliper from PEC which seems to be part of a second line of less expensive tools from the company. None-the-less, the tool is cleanly finished and has a smooth action and a responsive dial with no perceptible slack in the needle. Performing numerous test measurements, I found the readings to be very repeatable and as accurate as my more expensive professional tools. I ordered this because I needed a 12” caliper for “production” work that didn’t cost so much as to make me reluctant to use it on the shop floor instead of in the testing shed. I am a bit confused as to the product page’s title that states that this caliper is accurate to ±0.0001", but I imagine that the company means that the mechanism is slack compensated to that specification, although the resolution on the dial is limited to 0.001” unless you interpolate the needle width, at which point, you are just guessing.

It does what is says it will do. Nice an sturdy, well built and accurate! The movement is a little scratchy but some light lubricant and it's barely noticeable.

I’ve only had these for a few weeks. They feel well made , very smooth operation . And very accurate for a “cheaper set of calipers “. I use these daily at work. I will update if issues arise in the future. Also like the fact they are all steel , no plastic parts at all.

Feels nice in the hands and slides smoothly. I don't need to keep replacing batteries so I got the dial caliper. I mainly got this for my newly acquired 3d printing hobby to help me with some measurements for my 3d models that I am designing. What grinds my gears about these and any product I buy is when there are really bad spelling errors on the packaging. The box these came in had a glaring spelling error right on the front of the box. Machinist is spelled very wrong......
