This clock makes teaching kids to tell time super easy! My son was already learning to tell time on our regular analog kitchen clock but trying to explain the minutes when it wasn’t pointing to an exact number was somewhat tricky. This clock teaches hours, minutes and seconds which is awesome. It’s all color coordinated to make it easier as well. It has a light with a little button on top you hold down so kids can see the time when it’s dark. You can also use it as an alarm clock but I haven’t figured out how to distinguish between a.m. and p.m. so the alarm (if on) will go off at 7 in the morning and 7 at night if left on. Not a huge deal but sometimes we hear it going off when it shouldn’t be lol there is one issue I have and that’s the knobs to change the time on the back. They are super easy to accidentally move so if one of my kids pick the clock up, they sometimes move the time by just rubbing or gently touching the knobs. I think a cover over the knobs on the back would easily fix that that small inconvenience. Overall it’s a great clock and it’s perfect for teaching kids analog bc digital isn’t the only type of clock. ... show more

I love this teaching clock. When trying to teach my child how to tell time on an analog clock, there were two main areas of confusion. That it is still the same hour even if the short hand isn't pointing directly at the big number and the other was the concept that each tiny line represented one minute. This clock helps relay those two concepts beautifully with color coding the range of each hour and displaying the numerical value for each minute. It's also great that it includes a second hand so kids can see the passing of a minute. It's a small size clock for setting on a nightstand. My child loves the light that comes on when you press the button. I like that unless the button is held down the light does not stay on interrupting sleep. My child immediately set the alarm without us knowing so that was a surprise the first time it went off and woke everyone lol. The time setting knobs are touch sensitive and easy to accidentally move when picking up the clock. It would be nice if they were a bit stiffer to make them less sensitive to an accidental touch. I like how the clock stands at a nice viewing angle and that it's a neutral color. It's really nicely done. Makes the job of teaching and understanding so much easier. ... show more

I ordered this for a four-year-old boy who is just beginning to become interested in the concept of time. Even though the world is becoming increasingly digital, I still think it is crucial for children to learn how to tell time using an analog clock. Being able to do so accurately, corresponds with other math concepts, especially fractions. We already have a digital alarm clock in his bedroom, so I am using this in his playroom. It is small enough that it takes up little space on top of a bookcase, but not so small that the numbers can't easily be read from distance (especially for young eyes!) It is also easy for him to hold in his hands and examine up close. The clock has standard hour, minute, and second hands, all of which are in different colors, so they are easy to distinguish from one another. Additionally, each quarter section is a different color, which again helps to visually break down the amorphous concept of time into more easily recognized blocks. Not only are the hours included in these sections, but all the corresponding seconds as well, which is great. Each second that also corresponds to a minute (5, 10, 15, 20, etc.) is further delineated by an arrow. There is an outer ring that shows standard time, and a smaller inner ring that shows military time. I have never seen that feature on a clock of this type, and it is a nice inclusion. Additional features include an illumination button and an alarm. I have no idea how he managed to do so, but my son somehow set it for 3:15am. You can imagine how startled we both were when we were awoken in the middle of the night to its loud chirping! (It was downstairs far away from our bedrooms). If you don't plan on using this feature, definitely make sure it is off! The clock I received arrived in good condition and was free of any damage or imperfections. Directions are included, but the AAA battery required for operation is not. (I did not deduct any points for this) The materials feel a little on the cheap side, especially the knobs on the back and the battery cover. However, this clock was only $15.99 at the time of ordering, so I was not expecting the fit and finish to be anything better than average. ... show more

Overall, we liked the idea of it being a good clock to help teach our little one to tell time. Set of new batteries, followed the sticker that says follow the arrows, and it worked great for 2 days. Noticed it stopped, so I put a new battery in, and still not working. The light works so it makes it seem like the clock mechanism itself stopped working. ... show more

Great little clock, especially for young kids and teens. It's cute, it's bright, it helps kids learn how to quickly tell time, and it doesn't take up much space. My 6.5 year old uses this and we've had no complaints. I even got a second one for my other son but he's not getting it til the holidays, he's just now learning how to tell time a bit and by then I know this will be perfect for him. ... show more

Unfortunately, my kids were having a hard time with analog time. They've just been conditioned to look at digital clocks for everything. Got this to put beside their bed to help with actual time telling. It worked! Highly recommend!
