First off: KNOW YOUR CATS. My kitties love movement based toys so this was a no brainer. They love this thing. Legit I can turn this thing on and walk away for about 30 minutes and they’ll be completely entertained. Everything is tucked away inside the toy, and even if they do stick their paws inside? A meaningful push can easily make the mouse run the other way so no injuries happen. That one review of someone’s cat getting injured I seriously don’t see how that happened unless there was a design change. There’s just enough power given to get the mouse moving, not enough to actually entrap and injure a finger let alone a paw. I tested this MYSELF after seeing that earlier review. I don’t think the price point really matches up with the quality though. It doesn’t feel cheap, don’t get me wrong, but…for some plastic? I’ve seen children's toys with more tech for $20, tsp the $30 price for this was steep. Point is: Try to buy it on sale. Heads up: this does burn through batteries quick, and you need a rather small screwdriver to get into the toy to put in the batteries. My batteries usually last about a day with heavy on-off usage. So invest in some rechargeable ones. You’re gonna need them if your kitty likes this. ... show more

I bought this item for my cats (3 & 5 yrs), mainly the 5 year old cause she's very active. The 3 year old was skittish and the 5 year old played for a few minutes then stopped. My kitten loves her new toy. She likes to stand on top and watch the mouse go around and round. The machine is loud so older cats don't like it. Kittens love toys like this. I would hope that in the future that the maker will have an auto off feature, so the battery won't wear out. Then again, it does require supervision, so I shut it off when my kitten starts to lose interest.
