This pen is beautiful! I really like the color combination. It is elegant but not at all overly so. Light and very comfortable to use I prefer using the refillable insert so I can select the most passionate color to write my notes. Using the Palmer penmanship method one does not press the pen to paper for there is no need. A gorilla grip with pressure used with other writing implements, will ruin a fountain pen. One balances the pen in the hand, the fingers about two inches from the nib, holding the hand still, poised over paper. Then, gently touching the paper with the nib, releasing the ink from the pen, gracefully tracing letters across the paper in one continuous line. That is elegance, sophistication and entails quite a bit of practice. I will tell you though, the concept of “practice make perfect” is one that with this Parker Sonnet Fountain Pen you are not only rewarded with exquisite penmanship, but with other worldly rewards. On an occasion of little importance, not an anniversary, not a celebration, just the special occasion of my letting her know how much I love her, I gave this same pen to my lover because I love her dearly and I love writing with my fountain pen. For her alone, I have selected the Pilot Iroshizuku Bottled Fountain Pen Ink, Yama-Budo, Crimson Glory Vine, Purple Red. With that introduction, she too, uses the same ink. For us, this color speaks visual volumes, reminiscent of our many Kim Anami inspired bacchanalia festivities. As we have learned from Kim and grown our abilities and skills at pleasing each other, so has our enjoyment of and skill mastering the Palmer writing technique with our matching Parker Sonnet Fountain Pens. And one of the best things with matching pens is that I can easily insert my pen in her cap, much to her delight and she enjoys having her cap filled with my pen. So we do that every time we see each other. If you love her, get her one of these Parker Sonnet Fountain Pens and she can select her most passionate ink to write notes to you and, who knows, you may even be able to join her in a Kim Anami Salon?! I have had this pen for exactly 1 month to the date (delivered 9/03/22) and while I have enjoyed it’s use, the nib chipped while I was refilling the pen and cleaning it with a microfiber cloth. I am disappointed by the quality, for I have many fountain pens, and this is the first time a one has broke while using it. ... show more

I bought this and the Parker Jotter for 1/4 of the price this pen. My advice buy the Parker jotter. Its more easier to write and glides over the paper smoothly. While the Sonnet was rough and does not feel easy to write with. Made Quality is all steel and very solid. You get extra cartridges and refill adapter which is hidden under area the pen is in the box. Easy to miss unless you take the box apart. ... show more

I really hate that I have to return this pen. I have written with Parker pens, pretty much exclusively, since my dad gave me my first one in 1962. I have a collection of six Parker's, and one of those will be in my pocket daily. I'll replace this one with another Parker, just not this fountain pen. The ink will not flow for the initial letter of almost every word, whether that's a downstroke or a stroke to the side, and that's whether it's a good Crane notecard or a check. It did improve marginally when I squeezed the cartridge slightly. I had to do that when the nib dried out completely after lying on it's side, covered, overnight. The fit and finish on this pen are beautiful, but it is a tool for writing after all. ... show more

I did like this pen it worked well and comes with a converter and two ink cartridges. I did not like the ink in the cartridge but I am sure I could have changed that out for a better one. The pen it self is very pretty and is the kind of pen that give off an understated opulence that I do appreciate. the pen is light, will post and writes well. However I did conclude that for the price there were other pens that had more to offer and decided to go with them rather then this one. This is not a fault of the pen per say, just that I did not think that this pen was for me. ... show more
