Claims to have a 10 year warranty. No actual company website. Customer service at Amazon is even a dead link. Paragon Lock And Safe Company Phone Number is out of service. No way whatsoever to get the warranty fulfilled when the electronic part of the safe quit working and the key/lock broke and won't open the safe or release the key. This fire proof safe arrived and performs exactly as indicated in the Amazon ad. Let me provide more details. First off, the packaging wasn't the greatest. The box looked like it have been through a lot and wasn't in the best of shape. Once I cut the box open (from the bottom) I lifted it up and away from the safe. I cleared away the packing material (which was somewhat crumpled) and examined the safe. It was NOT damaged in any way. Its not cracked, dented, or scratched at all. The bottom is not bulging and the safe sets perfectly flat on the floor. The door does "rattle" in the closed position (just a very little) but no more than what you'd expect. I don't think adding weather stripping to resolve that problem is necessary; as its not a problem. I didn't have any problems storing 2 different combinations in the keypad, the key pad works fine. I also tested the lock out feature by entering the wrong combination (on purpose) and the lock out feature worked. It beeped continuously for 3 to 5 minutes. When the beeping stopped, the keypad was reset and ready to enter another code. The keypad does beep with each key stroke; that doesn't bother me but it might some people. One concern I have was that the keypad appears to be little more than a plastic calculator on a steel safe door. I tested the keypad by hitting it 3 times with my crowbar. Now, I didn't whack it with all my might, but I did hit it pretty good all 3 times. The amount of force I used on the keypad I don't think most calculators would have survived. The keypad seemed to absorb the force from being struck by my crowbar and continues to be fine. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure if I kept trying eventually I could break into the safe with my crowbar. Either through the door or breaking off the keypad, but that would take some time and a lot of noise making effort. After all, its NOT a bank vault, its a home safe. I assumed the 4 pre-drilled holes for mounting would be on the bottom; but that's not the case here. There are 2 holes on the bottom and 2 holes on the back. The mounting hardware leaves a lot to be desired. I'd like to see brackets to attach to the underside of the floor making the mounting much more stable. I'm going to close off the 2 holes in the back as I'm not sure how they'd effect the fire proofing if they were left opened. All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I'm going to buy the brackets to mount from under my house which is a bit more than most people would probably want to do; but I think its well worth it as I don't plan on buying any more safes. ... show more

    • Fantastic Safe, Exactly What We Needed!
This safe is perfect for small, valuable items. It is listed as being fire resistant, not fire proof. There is a difference between the two! We keep all of our car titles and important papers in this safe but they are safely tucked away inside of fire proof bags that we also purchased on Amazon. It is not going to be water tight either. There are holes in the bottom so the safe can be bolted to the floor, which for me is a plus. The main reasons I love this safe are: - It is perfectly sized for home use and can be easily hidden out of sight. - There is an adjustable shelf on the inside which allows you to put more things in there without having to pile everything on top of each other. - You can bolt it to the floor or to a wall. - It has BOTH key and touchpad opening. We looked at safes for a few weeks before deciding on this one. It is heavy but doesn't require two buffed out grown men to carry it. That was also important to us because when it was delivered, WE had to carry it in the house and put it into place. It's perfect for what we needed and I'm very glad we bought it because it gives me peace of mind that my valuable items in my home are under lock and key. ... show more

You get what you pay for. If this suits your needs, it's a bargain. It's not fireproof. It will deter thieves because it is relatively heavy. A burglar would want a dolly for this one. If you bolt it down, you'll make it difficult for the run-of-the-mill house burglar. Holes are pre-drilled: two sets in the MIDDLE horizontally at each side end on both the floor and on the back wall of the safe. Ideally, the safe design should have had four pre-drilled holes in the CORNERS of the floor. A determined thief could conceivably jerk a safe back and forth from the top and sheer the floor bolts off its moorings. Additional bolting of the back wall of the safe will further secure it. However, at least one bolt should be a strong, thick and lengthy wood screw going directly into a stud. The other can simply be a strong anchor bolt through the sheet rock. Standing alone, I consider this model top-heavy and consequently a tip hazard for an inquisitive young child who might be attracted to play on it after he gets tired of pushing the buttons and activating the lights on the combination key boards. If you have a young one around, you could store it on its back until you're ready to bolt it down. You won't want to use it in this position. Opening the heavy doors to the safe is almost impossible when it's on its back. In it's regular vertical position (unbolted), it's even more of a tip hazard with either or both safe doors open. The bottom safe is big enough for a very small child or pet to fit into. Keep the kids and critters away. Don't let them play with this. Don't let older kids know the combination or have key access. Make sure that curious cat of yours doesn't sneak into it before you close the door. ... show more
