It's a steel bar. It has brass bushings. It spins very freely. It's shiny. Good value for price. I've used way worse in the gym. Glad I have my own now. It doesn't come with clamps so you'll have to buy your own.

Hill style knurling for anyone wondering. For a cheap barbell I think this is great for anything I’ll realistically ever do, the only reason I’d ever upgrade would probably have something with a more aggressive knurl for heavy deadlifting but I’ve got wrist wraps so I’m not too concerned about it. Says it has a 1000lb capacity which is far more than I’ll probably ever be able to lift so I think this is a great product for the average lifter.

Ordered and my bar came with center knurl that had a finger groove in the very middle. The sleeves also only had a loadable length of 15.25". I contacted the seller and they said there length listed here is wrong(said they would update it at the time of this writing it is still listed 16.25"), but that it should still be 15.7". They offered to exchange or return for a full refund but I ended up using the bar over the few days we talked(they only responded late pm suggesting they're overseas) but I really like the bar I did receive. I think it is the same bar just with a mfg defect of the center knurl.. so to review what I did receive: The knurling feels great. It feels a little more than medium at first but it doesn't dig in at all so it's a good clean grip without scratching up my hands even as I began to load up the weight. The chrome plating itself seems very thick and solid. I haven't had any scratching or chipping issues so far loading/unloading and even with storing it in a vertical holder. It may have ball bearings but I think it is just a brass bushing. The spin is nice and smooth and moves very naturally when doing cleans and other explosive movements but not so much spin that it's annoying to bench with. Rolls easily and effortless on the floor. I feel much more confident with this than I did with the cheap bar that came in a cheap 300# set. I wouldn't expect any issues with it within the weight capacity. Very nice bar at a very reasonable price. I chose this over others in the price range because no one complained about it feeling unbalanced and I would say mine would not change that opinion. Would recommend. I feel this is just as good if not better than some of 'low end' bars that are still $30-50 more that come from more recognized brands.
