    • Good Product, Iffy Packaging, Poor Product Description
The packaging seemed a bit risky, but luckily everything was together and undamaged. I'm happy so far, but have yet to use it other than to assemble the bar and put a few weights on, so I may update this later. Update 1: Looks like the connector bar securing screws are a very-difficult-to-find 11/64" while the key provided is a very common 5/32", the upshot being that the key is slightly too small for the screw heads and is prone to stripping them or getting stuck inside them without too much effort. If you want to make sure the BB configuration is secure, I'd recommend using the correct key size, if you can find one. One thing I've noticed is that the product description is off in a few ways. The DB's in the 200lb set are not 18", they're 17.5" (6" of space for the plates on either side, 5.5" handle plus plate-stops). The connector bar is not 12", it's 11⅝". And finally, the 200 lb set comes with 4 x 2.4 lb plates, not 2. The fully assembled bar, with connector screwed on as far as it will go, is about 43" long. The full 200 lb set came with: 16 10lb plates 4 5lb plates 4 2.5lb plates (opposed to 2 x 2.5 lb in product description) for a total of 190 lbs (nominal) worth of plates. 2 hex-driven tightening screws for the connector bar 1 hex key to drive the tightening screws I assumed that the bar was supposed to make up the missing 10 lbs to make the total 200 lbs advertised, and that's about right. However, out of curiosity I took the trouble to weight the individual parts. Each DB bar is 1580g give or take a few grams, or about 3.5 lbs rounding to nearest 10th. The connector bar is 532g, give or take a few grams, or about 1.2 lbs rounding to nearest 10th Each collar is 220g, give or take a few grams, or about 0.5 lbs rounding to nearest 10th. It should be noted that all true weight measurements given in grams are less than the rounded values given in lbs, i.e. they all happen to be rounded up. So the true weight of both DB bars, the connector, and ALL 4 collars is just a few grams over 10 lbs, but the rounded values help make other configurations easier to manage: (rounding again to the nearest 1/2 lb) 1 DB with 2 collars ≈ 4.5 lbs 2 DBs with 4 collars ≈ 9 lbs BB config A (2 DBs, connector, 2 collars) 9 lbs BB config B (2 DBs, connector, 4 collars) 10 lbs Each plate, independent of weight, is about 5/8" thick, and each 6" threaded section of DB can accommodate 7 plates with room for collars, except for when using the connector bar, in which case each inside section can accommodate 6 plates, meaning that the most plates that can ever fit the fully assembled bar with collars is 2x7+2x6 = 26 (but note that a 26 plate configuration must ommit 2 collars which would otherwise go on the inside DB ends). From this we get the maximum weight of each configuration (assuming a max plate weight of 10lbs): 1 full DB with collars (14 plates): 4.5 + 140 = 144.5 lbs 2 full DB with collars: Theoretical (28 plates): 2 x 144.5 = 289 lbs With 200 lb set (26 plates): 2 x (8x10 + 2x5 + 2x2.5 + 4.5) = 99.5 lbs Full BB config A with 2 collars (14 plates): 9 + 140 = 149 lbs Full BB config B with 2–4 collars: Theoretical (26 plates): 9 + 260 = 269 lbs (remember that 2 collars must be omitted, hence a 9 lb bar instead of 10) With 200 lb set (24 plates): 10 + 16x10+4x5+4x2.5 = 200 lbs Of course, one could always increase the weight by adding heavier plates obtained elsewhere, but they would likely be thicker and so it's not possible to say just how much weight could actually fit on the bars. And that's all without considering the physical integrity of the bars themselves, which I have no information on except that they, presumably, can safely handle the included 190 lbs worth of plates included in the 200 lb set. This was all the information I would've liked to know before spending $400 to have 200 lbs worth of equipment shipped to my home. I have been very satisfied using the 50lb set for 7 months, and just purchased the 65lb set also to have a greater variety of weights. The weight sets are sturdy and versatile. With the 50lb set, I am able to fit all the weights on the ends of the handles to make a traditional barbell, or one heavy dumbbell (see photos). When in this configuration, the collars do not quite screw on all the way, so I have to be mindful about keeping them tight. (EDIT: Since I have two sets, I can combine 3 handles and 2 connectors to make an olympic-sized barbell. I am able to load most or all the weights onto it to do lifts over 100lb. See last two photos) In general, I have only experienced paint chips when first unpacking the weights from movement during the shipping process. After this, with very regular use I have not experienced the paint chipping at all, as some reviewers have mentioned. (EDIT: The 50lb set weights have a glossy black finish, and do not flake. The weights that came with the 65lb set have a matte black finish, and tend to flake more. The amount of flaking is tapering off in time, and it hasn't been much of a nuisance. A quick vacuum takes care of it.) Also, the collars fit snugly, but it is good to check them for tightness as they can loosen a bit after several sets. I had this same experience with a high-quality set of York adjustable dumbbells I used to own, so it is expected, and not bothersome. Both sets I ordered included all the expected components, and were packed well.     • Great Products, Great Customer Support... But Terrible Packaging

The Good: -Great value for the price. These are good solid weights built to last. I got the 200 lb. set, and I think the price point is very fair for what you get. - Awesome customer support. So the reason why I'm giving this only 4 stars is because my set was packaged wrong. However, customer support remedied the situation fairly quickly and they were very helpful without much fuss. - Speedy delivery. My 200 lb. set was delivered in 3 separate packages, and the first package actually came much faster (2 weeks ahead) than promised. The Bad: -Packaging. The boxes these come in is flimsy, and barely holds together. The Ugly: -Packaging. There is a kind of dust or powder on the weights that make them look filthy, but nothing a disinfectant wipe can't get rid of. Overall: I would say I am happy with my purchase overall, despite the difficulties I was initially presented with. The weights are good quality, and a great value for the money. Customer service is very responsive and very easy to deal with. In fact, it is my experience with them that makes me feel good about leaving a glowing review for them. The positives definitely outweighed the negatives in my experience. I'm leaving a picture of the weights so that you know what to expect roughly (weight plate holder NOT included). ... show more
