I think I paid around 20 bucks for this, so keep that in mind. I bought this for trying to identify birds in my backyard and at the cabin better. I am impressed with the crispness of the magnification. I would say this is best suited still for relatively close range, maybe 20-30 yards or so. But what it does is allows me to see markings on the birds better, and to see them into a tree better, whereas with the naked eye the bird really gets lost in the leaves. The tripod is unexpectedly high quality, but mounting a phone to the bracket is tricky. This might be more of a problem with today's multi-lens cell phone cameras, though, than with bracket itself. I wouldn't expect high quality pictures out of this set up, so if that's your main goal, I'd research more to find reviews of monoculars that produce better pictures. The accessories (carrying bag, lens covers, etc.) are all quite nice, again, at this price point. If you're looking for a beginner monocular, or don't have super specific needs, then I'd say these are a great value overall. ... show more

I have to admit, at first I was reluctant to review highly because I didn't fully understand there was a learning curve using this monocular. You can't just jump straight into it, without the knowledge of how a monocular works first. I would honestly suggest a brief YouTube search for the basics. Once understand how the knobs function, you can understand how to make adjustments at various distances. That's the key to getting very clear view, making the proper adjustments. Thankfully this is one has basic functions so not bad to learn. I haven't quite messed with taking pics but it includes everything you would need right out of the box to set your smart phone up with it, including the tripod. These are fantastic! They’re exactly what I was looking for. I wanted an affordable, but good set of binoculars that I could use for birdwatching, trips, and to look at the mountains close by. These fit all the marks. They’re lightweight, but not cheap feeling, and they’re nice and clear. Super easy to use. They also come with a cloth to clean the lens, a strap so you can hang them around your neck, and a case to hold them in, as well as directions. These binoculars were a great value for the apparent quality. I bought these to keep in our camper for “casual” use, I.e. just being nosey at the campsites and seeing what other campers are up to, as well as checking out the natural surroundings. They seem to be exactly what I was looking for - reasonably priced and just the right amount of magnification for my needs. They definitely look like they’re higher quality than the price indicates. Once you purchase the camera, there will always be a need for more film. Just like the “old days” of poloroid cameras. Teens, especially girls, like to have this handy for parties, sleepovers and any fun times when friends get together. We have binoculars, but find we tend to primarily view and focus through one eye rather than both! The monocular telescope is easy to use, good visibility at distance and the smartphone adaptor is fun to capture long-distance shots. It is a bit bigger than expected, but still very portable. I lost my trusty monocular, and this purchase was a replacement for a well used item. This Portix monocular is half the cost of my old unit, is brighter and sharper, and the feel and smoothness of focusing is natural and simple. Well done. I am totally surprised how satisfied I am with the improved performance, at a price half of the unit it replaced. I am ordering a second unit to replace my Wife’s current monocular.
