First use, I wasn't sure the iron was hot enough to do the job. I was thinking of returning but then I pulled out the iron and gave it another chance. Hit the steam button a couple of times to clear it out and started ironing and it worked like a dream. Lots of heat. Lots of steam. And it was easy to put it on the base instead of on the ironing board when I moved the duvet I was ironing. Today I ironed a handkerchief linen blouse with lots of pleats and a linen runner for my table. Plenty of steam for both jobs. Iron doesn't just glide, it skates. And I decided to write a review because I'm convinced it's the best iron I could have bought. Chose this model for two reasons. First the 30 minute auto shut off, instead of 10. Auto shut off always annoyed me. With this iron, it doesn't matter so much because of how fast this iron heats up - seconds, not minutes. I also like the shiny stainless steel soleplate instead of ceramic because just about everything I iron is natural fabric - and I think ceramic is better suited for manufactured fabrics and blends. Iron is lightweight and can be put away immediately, in its little case without waiting for it to cool down. So I can iron, put away the board and I'm done. I got lucky and got this iron used, in good condition. It came quickly and was in brand new shape, including instruction book. The only thing missing was the original box. Great price. Great iron. OMG, this is the best iron ever for sewing (quilting OR garment sewing.) When sewing, you need to have your iron hot and ready to go for when you need to press seams open. Nothing is more frustrating than getting up to press and the iron has shut off (most give you only 10 minutes) and you have to wait for it to heat up again just to press a seam, then go back to your sewing machine only to do it all over again. This iron has a 30 minute shut off - yay! - just what the quilter wanted. And CORDLESS! The second most frustrating thing is trying to maneuver your iron over a large quilt with a cord dangling in the way, and then also finding a place to set your iron while you reposition the quilt. You can set this base on a nearby shelf like I did so your entire ironing board is free and NO CORDS DANGLING! Even better, if your quilt (or garment) is on your work table and you want to give it a light press or steam without taking it to the ironing board, you can bring this iron right to the table. LOVE LOVE LOVE. The detachable water reservoir is another plus, making it easier to fill. The iron gets plenty hot enough for my needs, and makes nice steam. I haven't yet used it on an item where I needed long and continuous steaming, so I don't know how well it works for that, but so far I am thrilled with this iron. ... show more

This iron is everything I was looking for in an iron, and more. For one thing, I never dreamed how wonderful it would be to have a cordless iron. I was able to set the base off to the side on this wonderful shelf/table that I found at a resale shop, so it's not taking up valuable real estate on my ironing board. It gets hotter than many corded irons I've owned and it's nice and light to handle. It's just as convenient (if not more so) to set it in its base as it was to set my other irons on their ends while I shift fabric around, especially since it's off the ironing board. I'm a quilter and I typically use it to press cut pieces of fabric and pieced block units. It stays hot plenty long enough for that, and is reheated to full strength when I'm ready to pick it up again. One of the best things is that it has a 30 minute shutoff instead of the 8 or so minutes that so many irons have. It rarely shuts off before I'm back to it to press my next step, and when it has, it reheats quickly because it hasn't been off long. I don't press clothing, so I can't really speak to that, although, even there, you have to set the iron down to rearrange the article of clothing, so it's not really that different. I haven't gotten rid of my other iron, which I plan to keep around to use for steam pressing as needed because I mostly only dry press when quilting and I want to keep water out of this one. ... show more

Everyone in the quilting community is recommending this iron. The cordless concept is great. It heats up fast and cools down faster. Placing the iron on a hot pad to rearrange the cloth instead of the cradle, the iron cools down. So you have to keep putting the iron in and out of the cradle to keep the iron hot to complete the pressing. It’s much lighter in weight than any other iron I have used. I found I had to go over same areas many times to get the fabric pressed, more so than with a heavier iron. I will see after a few months if this truly is the iron if my dreams. ... show more

Loved this at first. Now the indicator lights quit working. Panasonic Company demanded a serial number, but their website says irons do not have one. Registering the iron was a pain. I needed 2 devises to register. Required pictures of my invoice and of the iron. Website did not have an option to go back when I tried to find the serial number. I dealt with Panasonic in the past. I hope their customer service has improved. ... show more

I am a quilter. I learned to sew when I was 12 and I am now in my 70's. I have owned many irons in all price ranges. This iron is the best one I've ever owned. I let my quilting buddy use it and she bought one. I bought two for my quilt group. During Kraft Kamp one of the participants asked me to order one for him. We all agree that this iron is exactly what quilter's need. It took a few sessions for me to get used to returning the iron to the charging cradle instead of standing it on end like most other irons, but now I don't give it a second thought. I love the dual ironing tips and it heats up really fast. But what I like most is that I can refill the steam tank without removing the iron from the charging base. Easy-peasy and instant steam. I can hardly wait for this model to come out in travel size. Yes, they are testing it now and soon the smaller one will be in production. ... show more
