The materials - by that I mean the metal framing, are really thin gauge metal. I don't have another brand to compare it to, so it may be that comparably priced green houses are no different. Having said that, after it is assembled it seems to be sturdy enough for what it is designed for. And I will say it does get Hot inside. I think it is about 15 degrees hotter inside than out on a sunny day. If you live in a climate where it gets into the 90's fairly regularly in the summer it may be too hot for some plants. Assembly took about 6 to 8 hours over several days by myself. It would be better and faster if there are two people involved - unless one of those persons is my wife. Make sure to anchor this thing down in someway ( stakes are provided for a dirt site) as I could see it turning into a kind of hot air balloon on a hot and windy day.     • High Recommendation to Purchase Paltram Harmony 6' x 8' Greenhouse!!
I started to purchase the 4' x 6' Harmony greenhouse and I'm very glad I changed my mind and bought the 6' x 8' size. The smaller size would have been like a small closet, I do believe!! The (two) greenhouse packages arrived in good condition and on time as promised with all parts enclosed. I printed the assembly instructions ahead of time to ensure we had all the required tools and to review the assemblage of the greenhouse. Additionally, reviewing the questions and answers and reviews by customers of this specific greenhouse on Amazon.com's web site was most helpful and proved to be time well-spent. The greenhouse was put on level ground (without any sort of flooring/platform). The greenhouse comes with stakes to drive into the ground which we placed into concrete for increased anchoring/stability. The greenhouse comes with a manual vent for to open one of the "roof" panels. However, I bought (from Amazon) an automatic vent opener which has a temperature sensor allowing the vent to open and close based on the greenhouse's inside temperature. (Note: The vent opener's instructions states to place the vent opener in the refrigerator for 30 minutes prior to installing it. Due to the temperature being in the mid 70s it kept heating up before we could get it installed. We placed the vent opener in the freezer, unobstructed, for 30-40 minutes and then it worked fine.) As the temperatures fluctuate I've checked the automatic vent opener and it works great--just as advertised! Next, I purchased a space heater with a temperature control. With a little time and patience I was able to calibrate the heater's temperature with the automatic vent opener on the greenhouse. (I did not want the automatic vent opening due to the greenhouse being too hot and thus allowing the heat to escape through the vent.) I did not purchase the advertised shelves for the greenhouse since they were only 23" x 16". I decided to buy free-standing shelves for plants, etc. For the "flooring", I decided to use a heavy rubber mat with holes in it as used in restaurants. My review is not for everyone. I want to tell the people who live in an area that gets any wind at all this is not the greenhouse for you. I assembled this greenhouse 4 different times. The first time there was a bit of wind and it was the most miserable thing to assemble its so light that every time a gust of wind went by it would move the greenhouse as I applied the panels. The first time and the last time I assembled the greenhouse I took great care to make sure it was on level ground because if the entire base is not level the pieces will not fit properly together. Each panel has its own aluminum frame that attaches to the piece below it. so there is zero room for error when it comes to being on very level ground. So that being said you will also notice in the picture the anchor block, The greenhouse is so light that if you do not anchor it to the ground wind will move or flip it. I imagine once you have plants growing it can help weigh it down but I never got that far I was always in a constant state of fixing it. Also its noisy even in light winds the panels vibrate and make a lot of noise. Your probably wondering why I didn't contact them with this issue. After the last collapse I was frustrated enough to give up trying to make this thing work. I did everything I could to make sure it wasn't user error. So I gave in a reached out to them, to be met with an email about how it was to late and basically said that there is absolutely nothing they were willing to do to back up their product. If this review reaches even just one person who lives in a area that gets wind and saves them $700 dollars than I feel better about my loss. As you can tell from other reviews its a decent greenhouse if met with the right conditions. I am trying to re purpose the plastic panels and build a greenhouse from wood. Hopefully they wont make the same plastic shaking noise once they are in wood frames but its a big project for a weekend warrior so I wont have a greenhouse until probably the end of year. ... show more

This our first greenhouse, so being a novice, I'm not sure how this rating will impact others. My wife and I assembled the greenhouse itself in one day. As you can see in the photo, we made some modifications. We have several pets and wanted to keep them out, but allow airflow and hopefully helpful insects inside. The screen door is my own design and is very effective. Ventilation is very important for our region with temperatures as high as 115 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer, so the exhaust fan is a must. I installed electricity and a drip watering system with timers on fans and the watering system which really helps with maintaining healthy plants. This is a great product design and the quality is exceptional. The only drawback I found is the door height is pretty low if you are over 5'4" tall, and I have hit my head a few times. ... show more
