Description

The Hybrid 6' x 10' Greenhouse from Palram - Canopia combines two types of polycarbonate panels to create a balanced environment for your plants. The translucent polycarbonate roof panels have twice the heat retention of single layer panels and allow the light to reach your plants at all angles while the crystal-clear polycarbonate side panels provide over 90% light transmission and block harmful UV rays. Polycarbonate is a virtually unbreakable polymer that provides the light transmission of glass, but is lighter, stronger, and safer. Palram - Canopia engineers their panels and aluminum frames to be strong, highly resistant to harsh weather and sun, and durable. This attention to detail continues with an integrated gutter system for drainage as well as a roof vent and hinged door to provide airflow and allow adjustment of heat, humidity, and ventilation. The 6' x 10' Hybrid Greenhouse comes as a complete kit and can be easily assembled with simple tools. Extend the enjoyment of your growing season and protect your plants from harsh weather and pests with the Hybrid Greenhouse kit from Palram - Canopia! Manufacturer Contact Information

  • Surprisingly Sturdy Design
Color: Forest Green Size: 6 Ft. x 4 Ft.
I was pretty sceptical of this greenhouse when it showed up in a relatively small box with many very thin plastic parts amongst the aluminum frame. After last night's 45-50 Mph windstorm I'm pretty positive about this purchase. My wife and I hybridize roses as a hobby and we have gone through two of the really cheap greenhouses made with interconnected tubes. Those cheaper ones usually would last a single Seattle winter and recently we had two major windstorms which lifted tossed them around our yard just before we put our 1400 seeds in for stratification. With this greenhouse I was able to build a more solid base out of 4x4s, some weed barrier and some rocks. I screwed the base of the greenhouse into the 4x4s. It took me about nine hours to build, over the course of a few days, but if it wasn't raining it would have gone a lot faster. As I put it together I had more and more respect for the design. It was pretty simple, but clearly well thought out from a structural perspective. The one thing I didn't like about the greenhouse was the vent. It was clearly pretty weak and it would rip off in the wind - so I converted the vent to sliding by slipping the bottom of the vent square under the lip of the lower window. This seems to work great. It slides relatively easily and it isn't going to pop open under the weather. I added some rubberized tape to the bottom lip to make sure the water continued to run smoothly down the roof. Within short order we had all the rose seeds in pots in the greenhouse and last night a major windstorm came through. Trees fell all over the neighborhood, the power went out - and I went to bed having a nightmare of waking up to all of our pots spilled out because the plastic windows buckled under the onslaught. At 6am I woke up with the kids and went out and everything was perfect and undisturbed. After seeing our other tube-based greenhouse on it's side twice this winter this was a great relief. We will see how it survives over the years, and I'm a little concerned about replacement parts but so far so good. ... show more

  • Not a trivial build but totally doable Not a trivial build but totally doable
Color: Forest Green Size: 6 Ft. x 8 Ft.
It took five of us about 7 hours to put this together. You can do it with 2 people but there are lots of duplications to the instructions on opposite sides so you can easily work in tandem. Someone can take on the task of building the door and work ahead on organizing the pieces needed in next steps while others are working. This 7 hours was not counting the sight prep. Note in my pictures for site prep we : Dug 4 squared holes for form tubes. Leveled and squared QUIK-TUBE 12 in. x 48 in. Building Form Tubes cut into 1.5' lengths and anchored in 6"x4" timbers with brackets via cement into these forms a few days before starting. Per other peoples reviews, anchoring the Greenhouse to a sturdy foundation gives the highest success rate. Before starting we all had the instructions and youtube videos on our phones and reviewed them. At the end of the build we used the Palram - Canopia Anchor Kit, on Amazon, to attach it to the foundation. This final touch produced a really solid feel to the Greenhouse for a five star sturdiness and stability result. We also put in the Palram - Canopia Automatic Roof Vent Opener for Greenhouses, on Amazon, for the roof window - a nice finishing touch. Before starting the greenhouse assembly my daughter put in gravel and pavers, from home depot, inside the foundation we built for drainage - much easier than adding after the fact. All in all it seems a very good value for the price and quality but only if you do the foundation stuff. Be patient with your build and be prepared to do and redo a few times. A screw gun is a must have along with a level, correct size wrench, extra screws, hand screw drivers and people who cooperate well with each other ;) We had no missing parts and almost no extras so use caution with screws and parts. Some are very small and all are critical. Thank you to all the reviews and tips that helped us plan the construction. Good luck and happy building! ... show more

  • Sturdy—but assembly and broken pieces...
Color: Forest Green Size: 6 Ft. x 4 Ft.
Two of the “581” roof tiles arrived cracked and I have to try to figure out how to get replacements. The greenhouse instructions only had drawings but no words and knowing exactly what is meant required that we had to spend a lot of time looking at the directions and working slowly. A one sentence explanation would be helpful for each page of instructional drawings. This did require two people to assemble mainly so that one person could hold things while the other person worked—until the greenhouse is 25% assembled. If the wind picks up—as in our case, it will slow down progress by a lot. There is a tie down kit to keep the greenhouse from blowing away. You have to buy this $65 kit—on another website that you have to buy separately. I feel this kit should have been included. However, the greenhouse seems sturdy and has a functional design. We love the rainwater collection down spouts. If we can get the broken tiles replaced we will love this greenhouse. ... show more

  • Flimsy Waste of Money That Lasted 3 Weeks
Color: Forest Green Size: 6 Ft. x 4 Ft.
This 4x6 greenhouse is flimsy. There are no "written" instructions for building it, just pictures that can be somewhat confusing and skip some steps resulting in having to undo and redo steps to correct a missing instruction. After many hours of building, it lasted 3 weeks before a strong gust of wind destroyed it and moved it 50 to 60 feet from the original spot it was sitting. It is extremely light weight. We used cement blocks to keep it in place and that was not enough. Granted, we did get unusually high wind gusts that caused this, but unless you can guarantee that occasional very strong wind gusts won't happen where you live you, I would not recommend this product. (it only took one wind gust to destroy what took hours to build) I had 2 stand-alone 3 tier plastic shelving units inside the greenhouse that were knocked over but those did not blow away like the greenhouse. The money spent on this is just gone into the wind. ... show more

  • - Packaged simple and easy for bringing in and setting up
Color: Forest Green Size: 6 Ft. x 4 Ft.
Overall, this greenhouse was satisfactory for the need and price. Shipping & Logistics: - Timely delivery from time of purchase. About five days. - Packaged simple and easy for bringing in and setting up. - Ordered the 6X4 and wasn't sure what to expect for the size or quantity of boxes. Waited a couple days to ensure all parts were shipped due to a note on the box that said some additional shipments might occur. Read misleading. - The parts in the package were well-wrapped but two poles did arrive slightly dented due to the lack of protection (bubble wrap or anything similar). Overall Appearance - Generally speaking, the greenhouse is visually appealing. - The 6X4 is a good starter greenhouse and doesn't overwhelm a space if you just need a basic greenhouse. - The green framing is great. Bright and classes it up. - The side panels are plastic - heads up. Yet, still sturdy enough. - The door and window feature is a nice benefit. Both were not fitting as a tight seal and it may be due to the 6x4 size, not sure. - No shelving provided and the accessory shelves you can buy online for the 6x4 aren't made to fit this size well. They are off-size and need a plan b solution to "fit perfect". Assembly & Setup - Directions were good and intuitive - if you can follow Ikea-level instructions or picture-imaged instructions where self-logic comes in to play. - Prior fabrication or assembly experience is going to be your best friend. If this is your first time building something with instructions, find a helper. - Two people for 80% of the build is very helpful. Until the walls get setup at least. - Assembly would be A LOT easier if they had you build the walls first, then put together after. There are some continual improvements to the instructions and product approach needed. - Some areas like using the black corner covers (the joint pieces) needed black 3M to make more sturdy on the 6x4. Not sure if this was due to the 6x4 size or not. - Plan for 3-5 hours of setup and allow for ample space to layout all the parts and pieces. Continual Improvements & Additional Comments - Shelving may be an issue to fit perfect with the 6x4s - Follow the instructions. The steps might not seem to have a purpose at the time, but they really do the way they built their instructions around everything. If you cut corners or go to far ahead with your own logic, you'll find yourself backtracking or redoing some steps. - Take your time, don't rush and don't force things to work. When you start to get worked up - at the product assembly or your helper - step away for a minute. It really will all come together even at the time it feels like hours of work is ahead. ... show more

  • Love it Love it
Color: Forest Green Size: 6 Ft. x 4 Ft.
#1 take your sweet time putting it together. The instructions were easy to follow if you don't try to rush it. #2 you MUST have something solid to ancor it to if you want it to be sturdy. We spent almost as much on our deck as we did the green house and it has survived 2 major wind storms so far. #3 placement is key. I live in the deep south, so I actually didn't want full sun exposure the entire day or everything would fry....this thing gets hot in direct sun light. I put it togther on a sunny day and it took no time at all to reach 110F. We purposely put ours agianst the house to keep wind down and ensure we had close water access with two 3 hour periods over the day getting direct sun light. Everything we have started as seeds has done well and spotted so far. #4 I was missing 5 parts in the kit. PALRAM customer service was kind and responsive and got my parts out to me in about a week. Lucky for me they were all finishing parts so I was able to put it togther and wait for the final 5 pieces while using it. Complete an inventory before you put it togther. #6 I ordered the heavy duty palram shelves and was able to install them, but not exactly how I wanted to becuase the 6x4 is too small to run two next to each other across the side. Over all, I love it and am happy as can be. ... show more

  • Very good product, assembly is an excellent brain exercise Very good product, assembly is an excellent brain exercise
Color: Forest Green Size: 6 Ft. x 8 Ft.
My hat is off to the engineers who figured out how to pack a 6' x 8' x 7' structure into a box measuring approximately 3' x 4' x 1'! This is an ingeniously designed product, as I was often reminded during the assembly process. The assembly instructions consist of a 1/2" thick, 8 1/2" x 11" book full of pictograms. The part numbers are either stamped into the parts themselves or printed on sticky labels that are then affixed to the parts. The printed instructions also include pictures of the parts and their numbers. There are a *lot* of parts in the box, so sorting and assembling them takes a little while at first, but as the parts in the box dwindle identifying them gets easier. You’ll definitely want to follow the pages in order one at a time, as each step is dependent upon correctly following the instructions for the previous one. It could be completely assembled in one weekend set aside for the task; we spread it over a couple of weeks. In our case, we had a concrete pad in the back yard that previously had a dog kennel on it. I read various reviews of this greenhouse before purchasing it, and had originally thought I would fasten it to a base of timbers to help stabilize it during high or gusty winds. However, when I priced the timbers I found they ran about $200 each, so I opted for putting railroad ties around the outside of three sides of the steel base and bolting it to them – a much more economical solution at $12.50 each. I haven’t moved any plants into it yet, but we had our first frost of the season this morning so I’ll be filling it up starting today. I’m quite pleased with this greenhouse so far, and look forward to enjoying it. ... show more

  • My budget dream greenhouse!
I've waited years to get this lovely greenhouse. I have used the soft plastic greenhouse with zippers that broke within the 1st 2 years and made do. I decided I deserved a better one after suffering through the last 2 years...don't you? I hired a handyman who brought in a yard of pebbles for the base, then 4 2x4's to create a solid base. The bases of the greenhouse was secured to the beams and then the construction began. I spent almost as much for the base as and the assembly as I did the greenhouse but it's so worth it! You must closely follow the instructions as to it's assembly and the better base you build the longer the greenhouse will last. I can't wait for cooler weather! I added sand to the "floor" of pebbles and watered it in. I also built a "moat" in stone filled with the pebbles to keep it from shifting. All in all I'm happy as a clam with it and know it will last for years and years. ... show more
