This paint gauge is fantastic! It’s incredibly accurate at detecting factory paint versus repairs – a real lifesaver when inspecting car paint. The build quality feels rock-solid and premium in hand. It even comes with a sturdy case, perfect for tossing into a work bag without any worries. Super easy to use, I didn’t even need to open the manual. • Great
So far it’s been working. Not too sure how accurate it is so I’m ordering a different one to compare. I’ve used it multiple times and the battery life has been good. And it’s made with decent material so the quality is nice. Very well priced.

  • Wonderful for learning powder-coating
This paint thickness gauge is an excellent tool and has been a great help as try to teach myself powder-coating. It's very easy to use, and the interface is simple and intuitive. The gauge feels very solid and well-made. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, every single time, with no errors. I've been using it to check coating thickness on various projects, and the continuous measurement feature is a huge time-saver. You can easily check consistency in a bunch of different spots. I also tested it on a bunch of different materials I had lying around, just to see what it could handle, and it worked flawlessly on all of them. I also used it on my car, and discovered that the body shop that repaired the damage from a deer running into me (yes, you read that right) did not match the original paint thickness at all 🤦 This gauge is a must-have for anyone learning to apply coatings, or for anyone who just wants to double-check a professional job. It's a fantastic, reliable tool, and an excellent value, that I highly recommend. The only thing I can't report on is the battery life, as I haven't run it out yet 😂 ... show more

  • Reliable and Accurate Tool for Daily Inspections
I use this gauge almost every day while inspecting FPE-coated pipe, and it’s been spot-on since day one. The readings are quick and consistent, and I’ve had no issues with accuracy. I mainly needed something that could keep up with frequent use out in the field, and this one delivers. The continuous measurement feature is a real time-saver. It lets me scan large areas without stopping to reset or wait between readings. The rotating screen is also a nice touch when you’re working in different positions or on awkward surfaces. Build quality feels solid, and it hasn’t let me down even after being tossed in my work bag or used in less-than-perfect weather. I haven’t used it on cars, but I can see how it’d be just as useful for body work or checking paint thickness when buying a vehicle. For what I do, it’s a dependable tool that does exactly what it says it does. ... show more

  • Good device to have when you're into car buying or painting
During my first time at a car auction, I wondered what the **** those old dudes kept sticking on the sides of the car was. Hehehe. I had an idea but I never realized that it's something that's affordable. If you're trying to determine if a car has been in a wreck and has been repainted multiple times by determining the consistency of the car paint thickness, this is the tool you will be using. It seems to be close to accurate based on the test samples provided by the seller/ manufacturer. It's a simple device. But a very useful one especially if you are in the trade that involves paint. The item came with a fairly decent case, some instructions, some calibration/ test samples, and AAA batteries. ... show more
