  • Bold colors, holds up well outdoors
I recently used these Permanent Markers to number our mailbox, and I'm impressed with the results. The ink colors—black, white, gold, and silver—are vibrant and stand out nicely. I went with black for the mailbox, and it adhered well to the surface, delivering an even and consistent finish. One thing to note is that you need to shake the marker well and lightly press the tip to saturate it before drawing. This helps ensure the ink/paint flows smoothly. The quick-drying, fade-resistant ink is a big plus, especially for outdoor use. After a few weeks, the numbers are still clear and haven't faded despite exposure to pacific northwest rain and summer sun. ... show more

  • On 3D printed plastic, white and black coverage is a little weak but other colors are good
The main reason I wanted to try these paint pens was to see how they would perform on 3D printed plastic (PLA). I found an extra octopus in a bright color to test how well they covered the color underneath, how well they adhered to the plastic, and how badly they bleed along the printed layer lines. The gold and silver colors performed better than I expected. Neither one showed real signs of color bleed along the lines (and almost every paint, pen, or marker I have tried will bleed down those little lines, so I'm impressed.) The silver coverage was almost flawless with one coat. A couple of tiny places were not painted, but you have to look hard to find them. Gold has very good coverage but more blue peeked through than with the silver. Coverage-wise, black and white were not as even as the silver and gold. The blue underneath the paint was more visible, and blue was totally exposed along a lot of the ridges of the layer lines (each layer is 0.2mm thick). The black actually looks ok, because its black and glossy. The white looks uneven. Perhaps with multiple coats it could look more consistent. But both white and black had bleeding along the lines. This would make it impossible to draw a straight, clear edge on a 3D printed surface, but based on my past experience with other paints and such, I'm more surprised that gold and silver work so well than that black and white have an issue. The nib width is about 2 mm wide. You can't do ultra-precise work with these (at least I can't) but it's a good size for adding details, lines, or spots. In my experience, these pens should work well overall on whatever medium you want to use, and in the right cases, these could be an easy way to throw some detailing on plastic designs. ... show more

  • Perfect paint for art projects that will be exposed to rain and sun
I ordered the SAKEYR Permanent Oil Based Paint Pens to restore a faded Native American Orca wood painting. Since these paint pens are waterproof and fade proof, this wooden art should now last longer outside in all weather. The black pen was thin enough to provide a nice outline of the Orca before filling it in with paint. These paint pens are easy to use. After giving them a good shake and pressing down a few times, the ink will start flowing. The pen worked smoothly on wood and dried up quickly. I look forward to using the other colors to decorate shells and rocks. ... show more

  • I've used them to personalize metal travel tumblers and acrylic wine glasses.
There are 4 oil based paint markers - white, black, gold, silver. The colors are opaque and vivid. They dry quickly, and are permanent and waterproof. First, shake the pen. Then press down on the tip to get the paint flowing. It paints smoothly without much odor and does dry quickly. The tips are a good useable size - not too thick and not too thin. I only need one pass for good coverage. Their stated use is for metal, plastic, wood, glass, rocks, and fabric. My research found that oil based markers are better than acrylic markers for hard surfaces. I've used them to personalize metal travel tumblers and acrylic wine glasses. ... show more

  • Work Great Other Than White
I use paint pens like these to mark engine oil filters, hydraulic oil filters, or other things on pieces of equipment. These all work great other than the white... Black, gold, and silver worked perfectly on all surfaces I tried them on. The white wasn't very thick and it struggled on everything I tried it on. I'm not sure if I just got a bad white one or if they're all problematic. It's just watery without much white pigment to actually come out and layer on the surface. Gold, silver, and black worked phenomenally well on everything I tried. Honestly gold, black, and silver are the ones I use the most anyway, so I'm not out much. I'll keep trying the white anyway and maybe eventually it'll come around. The ones that have worked are exceeding my expectations. These are about $2 each which I think is fair. I'm fairly confident these will do what I need other than the white pen. I'd consider these again, but I'd most likely try to buy the ones I have confidence in indididually instead of buying a set with the white in it again. ... show more

  • They work great if you follow the directions
You have to be patient when you start to use these SAKEYR Paint Pens. They must be shaken, and it takes a bit of time pressing down with the nib to get the paint to flow. Once you have it flowing, it writes smoothly. It's low odor and dry quickly. You can mark on pretty much anything with these pens. I'm told they work well to paint on rocks, can't wait to try it. I've tried them on wood, glass, fabric, plastic and my thermos and they have worked well on all surfaces. ... show more

  • I love these
I like to do tangle art. While it is mostly done with superfine, micropens, these are perfect for adding highlights to my tangles before I shade my designs with pencils. These are not micro-tipped, they are dramatic. They absolutely add a valuable element to my Zen drawings.
