The media could not be loaded. Upon opening the small box in which this candle arrived, I knew I was going to like it. 1) I could smell the fragrance (Smoked Pistachio) through the packing material and 2) I really liked what I smelled. The cold throw was very heartening and I was guessing there was a high fragrance load as well. The scent seemed very floral with deep wood notes. If a nose had taste buds, mine were all very happy. And, yes, I'll confess, I buy a candle based upon the strength and impact of the scent. Looking nice is secondary to me. An unscented candle to me is an oxymoron. I understand the need for them – fragrance sensitivities or allergies – but I don't have either of those problems, so hit me over the bridge with that essence. This candle from Paddywax is made of soy, a clean burning and natural alternative to paraffin. And comes in a ceramic container that looks slightly French to me; a bit French and old fashioned. (On Amazon that would be known as Boho.) I'm thinking the attractive green trim helped me arrive at floral early on, now that I think of it. I don't know if it is possible, but the soy wax feels a bit oily to me indicating how much essence is in the finished product (1.0 to 1.5% per pound). The container is made, as I mentioned, of ceramic and has a matching lid. The inside of the lid is not glazed and will soot stain if you use it to put out the wicks. I am really curious to see how the dual wicks will effect the wax here. The melt pools do not seem to overlap, but they do come awfully close to each other and I have yet to have the candle lit for more than 10 minutes at a time. Paddywax, incidentally, “intentionally” designs containers to have a second life. I love the concept. Once the wax is gone from this container, they invite us to find a second purpose or life for the item. Jewelry box, trinket holder, etc.. They also invite one to shop their wares with one's eyes as well as one's nose. This particular offering is definitely a candidate for gift giving. It has substance, style and worth. Your thoughtfulness will be noted repeatedly. This is a solid product from what appears to be a solid and socially conscious company based on their product portfolio and marketing materials. I am happy to own my Smoked Pistachio (it comes in four other scents) container candle and look forward to a long lasting relationship with it. Even if I have no idea what a smoked pistachio really smells like. I'm giving this wonderful candle 5 Stars. ... show more

    • Smells amazing, but the lid arrived scratched
Scent: Yuzu Woods
This candle is a clear dupe for the Volcano scent, it smells so good! The fragrance fills a room quickly and has that perfect citrusy, fresh, and slightly sweet balance. Unfortunately, the presentation was a bit disappointing. The ceramic lid came badly scratched/chipped. The damage makes it feel less giftable (my intention) and a little cheap for the big price. The jar itself is about the size of an open hand (but not very deep), so you don’t get a ton of candle for the cost. Still, the scent makes up for it, I’m even thinking of sealing the lid with resin so I can repurpose the container once it’s done or share with a friend who makes her own candles. Love the ceramic container more than the soy candle itself! Yes, I chose the black fig & olive scent since I love extraordinary fragrances in my home but it’s lacking, significantly. It arrived well packed in foam and was so excited yet upon opening the lid I couldn’t even find the scent. So, a quick wick trim and light and two hours later I still struggle to find the scent. Absolutely no throw at all and I’m dissatisfied but I will be hanging onto and repurposing the ceramic dish the candle comes in. ... show more

I adore this candle! It's not very often you can find a woodsy, musky, citrusy scent in such a feminine, pink candle. Normally they're so sweet or gourmand, which is not really my jam. But this scent is perfect! And the vessel is really the star of the show. I almost can't wait to finish the candle to clean and repurpose it. It's so cute in my daughter's nursery, and I already plan on using it as a jewelry box next. It came well packaged with no scratches, but it didn't come in a box, so keep that in mind if gifting this to someone. ... show more

The candle smells delicious, both lit and unlimited. The soy burns cleanly, which is nice, and one of my favorite things is that this company designs their candle holders to be reused, so you eliminate landfill waste. This candle looks beautiful sitting out, the ceramic jar and scalloped lid are definitely a nice touch, but that’s pretty much where the excitement ends. It smells nice when you first open it, but once lit, the scent completely disappears. For the price, I expected a stronger aroma and better throw. I could smell it even before opening the box! It smells absolutely delectable. I just want to take a bite out if it lol. Super cute design, I actually look forward to using this candle entirely do that I can use the dish for trinkets afterwards. It smells so good, I’m obsessed!
