I have many issues with hand mobility and chopping fresh herbs or almost anything with a knife is almost impossible. This bowl solved so many issues for me. I made the best fresh herb egg salad in no time and no pain in one bowl. You have total control of how chopped everything gets by when you add it. I love this. I will use it for so many different things. Salads are a great start. The cutter is simple to use and allows you a certain flexibility in grip strength and angle for mobility issues or pain if you have these issues..It cleans up so easy and is an ample size for larger salads. I will keep this very handy..

Money Well Spent

I'm a huge fan of OXO products. My experience has been that their products are durable, yet inexpensive. I'm also a huge fan of chopped salads, but hate making them due to not having a ton of counter space to chop nor do I enjoy the clean up. So I squealed with glee when I saw this product for sale and decided to give it a try. First, the bowl is very thick and durable but not heavy. I wish it came with a lid, but I'll forgive OXO for not including one. The chopper tool itself is just "okay" in my opinion but it does the job. On leafy greens it's great, but I struggled with broccoli and cauliflower which kept getting stuck between the blades. In the end I was able to get everything chopped up, but not without effort. It may be that I need to practice more, or pre-chop the vegetables into smaller pieces on a cutting board before chopping into finer pieces with this tool. It's a minor inconvenience, but I still prefer using this chopper bowl over anything else. For the lettuce chopping alone it's worth it.

Another Great Oxo Product - Works Great

A short while ago I tried a "chopped salad" in a restaurant and loved it, no overly large pieces of lettuce you have to stuff in your mouth [not so lady like] or cut with a knife! Thus the reason for my purchase. I debated over several "salad chopper" styles and decided to keep things simple and chose the Good Grips based solely on previous experiences with Oxo products. First, the bowl is really big....in fact its huge! Which is a plus as it can double as a mixing bowl [would be perfect for letting bread dough rise!] It is made of VERY STURDY plastic and is dishwasher safe. The cutters/chopper's blades are slightly larger than a pizza cutter blade and are also very sturdy. The blades roll smoothly and the angled design of the handle fits perfectly with the inside slope of the bowl's sides. All you do is dump all salad ingredients into the bowl and start rolling the cutting blades down the sides of the bowl. The salad can be chopped from coarse to fine depending on how long you continue rolling the blades. Yesterday, I made cabbage slaw with it and I think the uses are only limited to the imagination! You can make a salad in half the time it takes using standard methods. All in all I believe this is the best designed salad chopper, its easy to use and clean. I've never been disappointed in Oxo Good Grips products and this one is no exception.

Chopped Salad--I'm Lovin' It!

I was introduced to chopped salads when I visited New York a few years back, but it always seemed like it would be too much trouble to make it at home. But this thing does a great job and I've become a salad-eatin' fool. I do chop up bell peppers and cucumber and cabbage before putting them in the bowl, then toss in roasted tomatoes, spinach and lettuce for a few chops, then dressing (use less than you might expect), a few more strokes, and finally olives, sliced avocado, boiled egg (quartered), diced grilled chicken, walnuts or sunflower seeds, and chop it until it looks right. It ain't rocket science--even when I change up amounts or use different ingredients, the salads are just delicious and I end up going back for seconds every time. Clean-up is a breeze--just fill the bowl with soapy water while I enjoy my salad and everything just rinses away. I do see some marks from the cutting wheels--inevitable I think, as you're running steel blades over a plastic surface. But it doesn't seem to impact usability at all. If you like chopped salads, or think you might like to be able to eat tossed salads without the challenge of appearing dignified while trying to fit enormous lettuce leaves into your mouth, I don't think you'll find an easier option. And $25 is a bargain price for something that can change your diet this much.

I like it!

I bought the Oxo salad chopper to use with about 20 - 30 oz. of spinach that goes into a casserole I make about every 10 days. It has been much faster and easier than my previous methods, and I get one bowl full of spinach instead of figuring out how to deal with more containers. I found that if I nuke the spinach in the microwave for a bit, the spinach wilts slightly so it doesn't get stuck between the blades, and it all fits in the bowl at one time (chop the first bag while nuking the second, repeat as needed). I just tap the cutter handle against the edge of the bowl to clear the spinach as needed (DO hold the cutter as Oxo says). This product does well at cutting the stems off of the leaves, holds a lot of spinach. I am evil and wash the product in the dishwasher. After 2 and a half years, the cutter gets a bit dull, so I bought another one rather than treating it better or trying to figure out how to sharpen the thing. I do note that in that period, Amazon's price increased by a couple of dollars - what hasn't?
