Mine came today and I used it tonight. I eat *a lot* of salad, so I buy these huge platters that serve 20 people. Using a knife and a fork it would take me close to 45 minutes to chop it up to put it in air-tight containers that don't take up an entire shelf in the 'fridge. Took 15 and cut up a lot better than the good ol' knife and fork. That it's made like a pizza cutter means it's not pushing into my hand and wrist that was operated on last year - good ergonomics. I know it seems silly to say that one kitchen tool changed the way that I eat, but it couldn't be any more true. I've always enjoyed salads, but at the same time, I didn't REALLY enjoy them until the last few bites where all of those goodies that you add have dropped to the bottom of the bowl. Pure heaven! Needless to say, I didn't eat much salad. Maybe two or three a week. When I purchased this bowl and salad chopper I wasn't sure what to expect. I put in a handful of baby kale, a handful of arugula (two greens that I generally couldn't stand that much of in my salad, but are a POWERHOUSE of goodness), and a handful of spinach. A couple slices of cucumber went in also, as well as half of a chicken breast, half of a hard boiled egg, about 5 or 6 dried cranberries, a pinch of nuts, a few shakes of badia complete seasoning, and a couple squirts of boar's head sandwich olive oil with herbs. Holy cow. Every bite was like that delicious salad at the bottom of the bowl! I have been eating salads for two meals a day ever since. As far as the actual product, it is very sturdy. When I saw that the bowl was plastic I was a little worried about how it would stand up to use with the chopper. I thought that perhaps the chopper would form grooves in the plastic bowl. So far, after two solid weeks of use, there is not a single scratch on the inside of the bowl. Clean up is a breeze as well, as nothing has stuck to the bowl at all. I even left a little salad in the bowl overnight by accident, and when I woke up in the morning it all easily wiped out with no scrubbing power at all. The only thing that I don't like about it is that you can't take the chopper apart to clean it. That said, I am able to take a toothbrush, put a little soap on it, and really get down into the grooves of the chopper with each use. I bought the Oxo salad chopper to use with about 20 - 30 oz. of spinach that goes into a casserole I make about every 10 days. It has been much faster and easier than my previous methods, and I get one bowl full of spinach instead of figuring out how to deal with more containers. I found that if I nuke the spinach in the microwave for a bit, the spinach wilts slightly so it doesn't get stuck between the blades, and it all fits in the bowl at one time (chop the first bag while nuking the second, repeat as needed). I just tap the cutter handle against the edge of the bowl to clear the spinach as needed (DO hold the cutter as Oxo says). This product does well at cutting the stems off of the leaves, holds a lot of spinach. I am evil and wash the product in the dishwasher. After 2 and a half years, the cutter gets a bit dull, so I bought another one rather than treating it better or trying to figure out how to sharpen the thing. I have many issues with hand mobility and chopping fresh herbs or almost anything with a knife is almost impossible. This bowl solved so many issues for me. I made the best fresh herb egg salad in no time and no pain in one bowl. You have total control of how chopped everything gets by when you add it. I love this. I will use it for so many different things. Salads are a great start. The cutter is simple to use and allows you a certain flexibility in grip strength and angle for mobility issues or pain if you have these issues..It cleans up so easy and is an ample size for larger salads. I'm a huge fan of OXO products. My experience has been that their products are durable, yet inexpensive. I'm also a huge fan of chopped salads, but hate making them due to not having a ton of counter space to chop nor do I enjoy the clean up. So I squealed with glee when I saw this product for sale and decided to give it a try. First, the bowl is very thick and durable but not heavy. I wish it came with a lid, but I'll forgive OXO for not including one. The chopper tool itself is just "okay" in my opinion but it does the job. On leafy greens it's great, but I struggled with broccoli and cauliflower which kept getting stuck between the blades. In the end I was able to get everything chopped up, but not without effort. It may be that I need to practice more, or pre-chop the vegetables into smaller pieces on a cutting board before chopping into finer pieces with this tool. It's a minor inconvenience, but I still prefer using this chopper bowl over anything else. For the lettuce chopping alone it's worth it. ... show more
