Description

Waste less and save more with the OXO GreenSaver™ Produce Keeper. Storing produce in a plastic bag or crowded crisper limits airflow and enables moisture buildup, creating prime conditions for rotting. Each Produce Keeper uses all-natural, activated Carbon Filters to trap and absorb ethylene, a gas emitted by fruits and vegetables that accelerates the ripening process. Along with the Carbon Filter, the GreenSaver Produce Keeper’s unique construction keeps food fresher longer. A removable basket promotes airflow and prevents moisture buildup by keeping produce away from the bottom and sides of the container. A vent on the lid slides open and closed to optimize the humidity level for the produce being stored. An illustrated guide on the lid shows which fruits and vegetables thrive when humidity is higher (vent closed) and which ones keep best when the humidity is lower (vent open). The 5 Qt Produce Keeper ids great for carrots, cucumbers, celery, kale, scallions and more. The GreenSaver Produce Keeper is BPA free and dishwasher safe. The 5 Qt Produce Keeper comes with one enhanced Carbon Filter. Each Filter lasts up to 90 days, at which point it will no longer have the capacity to absorb more ethylene. Filter refills are sold separately. To sign up for reminders to replace your filter, or to learn more about the OXO GreenSaver line, visit

  • Keeps Sprouts Fresh
Size: Large Style Name: Produce Keeper
This item really does seem to work great for keeping produce fresher quite a bit longer, like maybe 3 or 4 days longer at least. I think you probably do need to use the little carbon packets to absorb the ethylene gas that produce naturally gives off and will cause spoilage faster. I do use the packets. I grow my own sprouts at home, like alfalfa, radish, bean sprouts and so forth. So when I grow a batch, I tend to grow a LOT at once, or enough to fill this large container. And in the past, I've needed to eat them within 4 or 5 days or they start rotting. So in this case, my sprouts were still plenty fresh enough to eat 8 days later. (I did wipe off the resulting moisture condensation from the inside of the lid and also the walls & floor of the container at least once during storage, because you don't really want that condensation in there for too long.) A common complaint I noted here in the reviews before I bought it is that the lid doesn't fasten to the top like you'd expect. It doesn't fasten at all actually and just sits there. So you really need to use both hands to lift it up and carry it around. If you just use one hand on one side you'll probably drop it. So I don't know why they couldn't have manufactured a lid that secures to the top, but they didn't. I'm not too lazy to use both hands, but it's just remembering to do it is the thing. The first time all your produce ends up on the floor then it's easier to remember to use both hands. But I'm still giving it a 5-star rating here in any case, because it works as advertised to keep produce fresher quite a bit longer... ... show more

  • Keeps berries fresh!
Size: Large Style Name: Produce Keeper
I’m currently supporting 2 raspberry addicts, and this ensures not a single berry rots away in the fridge. I love it. I haven’t had an issue with the lid (it doesn’t lock/snap). I love how large this particular one is. I also love the internal chamber. I use it to rinse my produce because it’s got all the holes for air circulation. Once dry, I place it right into the container and then the fridge. About to order another for cucumbers. ... show more

  • Actually Keeps Vegetables Fresher Longer
Size: Large Style Name: Produce Keeper
I've used this for kale, different lettuces and leafy greens. All stayed fresh longer than when wrapped. It's easier than wrapping leafy veggies. I still have to try other vegetables in it. There is a guide for which vegs need the vent open (the vent holds a charcoal packet that absorbs the gases that let vegetables spoil faster). ... show more

  • Works well but could have been better
Size: Large Style Name: Produce Keeper
I grow our own greens during spring + fall and needed something that could provide long term storage after I harvest big batches. Since I love OXO products I wanted to try their produce keeper first. It works really well and keeps salad greens, arugula fresh; in our case up to two weeks from harvest, however I need to remind my husband every time when he picks the container from the refrigerator as the top is NOT secured at all to the bottom container. It seems odd to design such a thing but here we are, the top part sits loosely on the bottom and you can easily forget and hold the wrong way causing unpleasant accidents in front of the fridge. ... show more

  • Fresh for 2 weeks, will pay for itself.
Size: Large Style Name: Produce Keeper
A head of romaine was edible for 2 weeks! I bought a head and did an experiment to see how long it would keep for. All leaves were separated, washed and mostly dried. I also used unbleached paper towels to absorb the little water left. I checked it every other day. I dried the paper towels and reuse them with each new head. The broken ends and breaks turned brown first, i cut that away and ate the rest. ... show more

Finally, something that keeps celery and carrots fresh!

  • Nope
Size: Large Style Name: Produce Keeper
I love OXO products but this one definitely failed me. Food goes bad even more quickly imo. I was ok with having a container that didn't securely close (have to carefully hold the bottom when pulling it out or everything falls everywhere). Save your money but 7/10 vs the lower score for the smaller ones. *NOT good for strawberries, raspberries, grapes or any fruits. It's nice for lettuce / long vegies. ... show more

  • Excellent product which delivers the freshness it promises
Size: Large Style Name: Produce Keeper
I have owned two of the large OXO 11140100 Good Grips GreenSaver produce savers since October 1, 2018 and have just bought two more of the same size. All of the items that I've kept in the Keepers have stayed fresh and are peak condition for more than one week. Depending on the produce item, I am able to keep them for over and two weeks without deterioration (for example, romaine, radicchio, celery, radishes, zucchini, peppers.) Further, I have not reordered the charcoal filter that is included in the initial delivery and notice no difference in keeping quality. I made my initial purchase of these rectangular Keepers after a few years of using my small and large OXO Salad Spinners to keep lettuce after washing it. I experimented with transferring arugula from its packaging to the salad spinner and found that it kept for over a week IF --- and only if --- the arugula was either dry in the package (tip: Organic Girl arugula is the driest I've found) or carefully dried before storing. This informed the way in which I stored produce in the Produce Keepers. Items that have approximately the same humidity requirements can be stored together. The icons on the inside of the slider show which items belong together. By implication, items from the other category should not be combined. Produce which gives off significant amounts of ethylene as it ripens should not be stored in the Keeper at all. That includes apples, bananas, pears, apricots, and so on. Look it up if you're not sure. The whole point of the keeper is to prevent the produce from ripening/spoiling and the presence of ethylene will hasten that process. Produce should be dry before being stored, and given enough space to allow some air circulation. This means cutting up some items so that they can be placed in the container (e.g., a whole head of lettuce or radicchio) without crowding or squashing them. The Keeper should be cleaned with hot, soapy water at least once a week to remove any bits of produce (tiny celery leaves, bits of arugula) which have fallen to the bottom of clear plastic shell. Produce should be used in rotation: first in, first out. I have only one negative comment: the Keepers do not stack well. They certainly fit on top of each other, but the top is not designed to nest into the bottom of another. That's a pity, as removing them from the refrigerator requires that one be a little careful to hold onto both the bottom and the top of the Keeper. For me, that's a small price to pay for an excellent product that delivers the freshness it promises. ... show more
